We're not regulars at Acme but stop here sometimes. They have the pepperoni I like that I can't find at Caraluzzi's or Stop & Shop. The prices here are very competitive, but their deli can't compare with DiCicco's or Caraluzzi's. One revelation I had recently was their bread. I was making a large sandwich for a neighborhood picnic and I got a giant loaf of Italian bread. That bread was amazing and really helped make the sandwich. It was fluffy inside but strong enough to hold the fried eggplant, roasted peppers, mozzarella and basil that made up the sandwich. I still think about that bread. I always use self checkout so can't comment much on staff but this is a decent place. It could be tidier in general but with good prices and a terrific selection, I can't complain. read more

We were in line with 7 other people. Meanwhile the manager and another employee are watching the self checkout line with nobody in it. Or really, they are talking to each other ignoring the store. One of the things we wanted to buy was past it's "best by" date by a month and I thought, "why not ask the manager if I could get a discount?" Well, she wasn't very happy about having her conversation interrupted. She was even less interested in giving a discount. She said she'd pull the merchandise, but I wouldn't bank on it given her attitude and the way she was running (or not running) the store. Our checker was nice, though overwhelmed. And basically if we didn't bag the groceries ourselves, they weren't getting bagged. The acme up the road in Patterson is better, though we aren't from here and so maybe just got lucky. read more

Two stars because the lady was somewhat friendly and these days it's hard to come by. She pulled the old cold cut trick on me though and I really don't appreciate it. I asked for the cold cuts to be sliced very thin. I have small children and it's a waste in my house if the cold cuts aren't thin as no one will eat them. So to my request she replied "sure". She proceeds to cut the first couple slices thin and gave them to my kids and they were sliced perfectly. But then when I'm not looking turns the dial and makes the rest of the cuts thicker. At these prices, you should be able to get what you ask for even if it takes what? A minute or two more?! Also, there was no line. Now I have a pile of unappetizing cold cuts here and wasted $36. I didn't even ask for cheese I got it from the pre packaged section to make her life easier. Never again. read more

This Acme market needs to be cleaned! It could use some updating and the lighting isn't great, either. The bakery, floral section, and prepared foods areas are good but expensive. But I think the craziest thing is that you have all of these young people that are hanging out in front of the store by the registers, but nobody's actually checking anybody out. There's one person on the regular checkout and everything else is forced to use self check out no matter how many things people have. Except for one little -haired old lady, who doesn't even smile, the creepiest part was that there were two young guys who obviously worked there who were "sizing people up" at the self check out. They were giving people dirty looks and staring. And playing on their phones. You would think they could make a better use of their time and I truly felt uncomfortable. There are so many other markets around that have better prices that I'm going to start looking elsewhere. Especially in this economy. Pass it up! read more

I have found the stores Bakery items to be very tasty rivaling that of local bakeries. Overall prices are quite high, need to catch a good sale to get value. My main discontent lies with a couple of customer service employees that they have. I have found them to be unfriendly and unaccommodating. If I could give this place 0 stars, i would. such a run-down, tiny store. I stopped here back in September omw up to Massachusetts to "let the load out" and there was no toilet paper! luckily one of their employees (i believe he may have had a disability or something) helped me out and brought me some. but there still shoulda been some in the bathroom. i didn't even bother buying anything as again, the store barely had anything in it. i work in the bakery at shoprite, and let me tell you, we have TONS more pastries to offer! Absolutely disgusting, on August 5th I decided to do a drive up and go order. It was a very hot and humid day so I stayed in the car and waited for the employee to arrive with my groceries. So I took a minute get out of the car so I told her I was ok and could go back inside. Long story short... WHO ever does the shopping for these orders should be retrained 2x on shopping!!! 4x on bagging 100x on food safety/cross contamination!!!!!!!!! I should have called the health dept The shopper decided it would be great to sell me opened raw chicken!! that's not all decided to pack in in a paper bag with lemons salads etc.. what a SH*T show. So the paper bag ripped and there was raw chicken blood all over all of my brown paper bags all over every single item I bought it's not like the store didn't know about it it was clearly visible. It was so disgusting and unbelievably unhealthy They gave zero cares to customers So seeing as I purchase through the app, I reached out through apps chat (as the women who work front desk in the store never seems to care about anyone waiting in line and always look like unhappy bothered and such Remember they chose to work there ) anyways and the chat was really nice at first, says This is no worries will give you a full refund and you should receive it by August 17 and they went on with that story for entire month. it's coming your refunds coming your refunds coming then finally on September 9 , I was questioning why I hadn't received my refund yet and Michelle from customer service said oh no worries will send it over to the payment services and they'll take care of it so payment services decided to decline my refund and said I needed to go back to the store. The store clearly knew about the situation because I spoke to customer service through chat many times. So not only did I lose out on all of my groceries. ACME Markets is a great supermarket. They have almost everything I'm looking for and more. For someone who has allergies, I have found everything from gluten and dairy-free mac and cheese and Oreos (which is a super rare find), and they have great selections of produce, meat and fish. I will definitely continue to shop here in the future. The only thing that I have seen so far is that they should stock up on dairy and gluten-free alternatives for things like sour cream and cookie dough but that's it. I also didn't see any caviar or truffle oil options but I might not have been looking hard enough. Overall, I love this grocery store and will continue to come back here in the future. read more

The pharmacy is beyond wonderful!! Jolanta went so far above and beyond this past weekend for us!! My husband was getting discharged from the hospital and they phoned in Prescriptions for him. It was at closing time, and she realized this was something he would that night. She called and asked about it. We were still at the hospital and she kept the pharmacy open until we could get the prescription picked up! THE BEST!! Anthony who is the other pharmacist is also WONDERFUL!! read more

Ok, things have definitely improved here. The sale prices are now real sales. The price of things is ringing up properly. The produce department is coming along with improving quality. I think management actually took the initial wave of deserved criticism from the area seriously. I'm giving these people a second chance. Just one other new thing ok? It's only paper bags now in NYS so if you don't bring your own , ACME charges you 10 cents per bag . (1) the bags are not the standard paper grocery bag size they usually are, they are smaller so you need to pay them for more bags and (2) the quality is so poor they immediately tear if they have more than one paper towel roll in them . In fact, there were small holes in one corner of each bag before anything went in it - in other words, the bottoms were not properly put together . C'mon people! Do you really want to nickel n dime your customers AND give them a worthless bag so what you sold them falls out, breaks and they come back in fighting with you so you have to replace the jarred pickles? Is that good business ? Not it is not. read more

No one cares about their job here. You can ask multiple employees where a product is they all point different directions. Never take the time to bring you to the item. No one is professional, all rude and it seems as if youre bothering them. You got people who dont even give you eye contact and pretend youre not there and other people wearing tails. The "service desk" and some older women who work there can be rude and nasty on a regular basis . Most of them and some front end managers can sigh and roll their eyes when you need help . People from other departments are kind and helpful, unlike the key holding crabs . Being treated as intrusion more than once , I have to be blunt. ACME is fine otherwise - but if the ones I speak of are THAT unhappy, don't spread it around , leave the baggage at home. read more

Definitely a bait and switch operation. If things are on sale for example this week chicken breasts and thighs nowhere to be found on first day of sale. Same with Sargento cheese. Try getting store brand whipped cream. They have been out for over a week. The ad has them on sale for 3.03 I had to pay 4.99 for name brand. If you ask you are told we have a truck coming in tonight. Doesn't mean what you asked for is on it. The next favorite is we can only put out what they send us. Then why advertise. The worst day to shop is Tuesday senior citizens day. That is almost a guarantee that the sale item will not be there. If you advertise a product and when the customer arrives and they have to pay more for a non-advertized product that is the definition of bait and switch. Their biggest asset are the teenage cashiers because they at least say hello and don't talk to you like an idiot. The produce and meat are just okay. I don't buy deli meat due to the lack of hand hygiene in the staff handling the meat. I am not going to want when the old guy at the deli counter touched his dirty hat with gloves on, rubbing his nose and then handling food. Eww! The stockings staff rude. When I was shopping and they needed to get by me just stood there moan and groaning cold not simply says " excuse me ". Otherwise they nearly run you over. If you need to get by them when they are in the way the seem to have a loss of hearing when someone says " excuse me ". The bottle return machine is not maintained and when there is a problem only the cart person is able to fix it. That the various people are rude and treated me like doing their job is inconvenient. My boyfriend and I have been at this store numerous times, old guy in the deli is rude and when a customer asked for their cold cuts to be sliced thin he just does not listen and continues to do what he pleases. Most people do not like thick cold cuts especially salami and this guy when corrected gets very nasty. Then the cashiers who are also in their own world like to make you feel like a fool and have you prove to them by going back to whichever department and retrieve the sale sign for them, not only that if you don't want an item the cashier tells you have to bring it back where it came from. WOW unbelievable never seen anything like this before! If I were a boss they both would have been fired. To top it off the cashiers will try to cheat you out of change and swear you didn't give them a certain bill size. REMEMBER THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT!!!!!!!
