Acme T-Shirts in Lawrence, KS, YASSS, Kansas, is one of my all time FAVORITE places to go and hang and just make super creative tees! They have ready to order creative shirt ideas or.......you can design your own!!! (That's what I typically do.) Their shirts are really well-made sturdy fabrics, that last the test of time. Whatever the materials are that they use, for the designs, also withstands a million washes! Their staff are so kind and patient too! They're really accommodating and creative themselves, so you won't have trouble thinking of something fun to make! These are just a few of the reasons I keep going back! They have stickers, pint glasses and other options too ~ just ask! They're so great! Layout on the screen was scaled to what appeared to be a smaller shirt background. So when actually printed to the shirt, the XL shirt was bigger a little bit. But it was enough to make the graphic look smaller. Came out terrible. Front logo was crooked as well on (2) of the shirts. Spent over $100 here and got ripped off a bit. Sucks. Didn't want to pull a "Karen" in the store so I left with my shirts and we aren't coming back. read more

I paid to have four t-shirts made on February 4th around 10 a.m. They said that they could get them done but it wouldn't be till 2 p.m the next day. I went in at one forty-five 15 minutes early. I've had shirts with a couple different designs I made printed on shirts here and I have been more than satisfied with each one. If you've got your own design they'll put it on a markup for you to see how it'll look, and they'll usually get just a couple shirts printed pretty fast. Any time I've gone in to get one or two shirts printed it was ready the same day. You can even bring in your own shirt if you've already got a blank one. Very neat place! read more

Great concept for a store, terrible customer service. Bought two shirts off sale rack and paid to have another one made. Went in after days with no notification that the ordered shirt was done. It was done and they claimed to have sent a text that was not received. Tried to exchange one of the two shirts bought on sale because one had a hole. I was told that's why they were on sale. Nothing about the sale sign suggests the merchandise was damaged. Same shirt in size and color was available but they would not exchange it because "that's why it was on sale". Sign suggested the merchandise was on sale not that it was damaged. Sign should suggest the merchandise is, or could be, damaged. I feel ripped off and received bad customer service. read more

Really cool place. T shirts made to order. There's a good assortment of designs on hand that can be applied to a number of different shirt formats (t shirts of various configurations, sweatshirts etc.) Came into town for a conference, and this is where they printed off the conference t-shirts. I actually spaced on ordering one but when I asked they told me to head here and I could get the custom design on any type of shirt they offered. So I got to make a rare edition. As a bonus got to pickup a unique travel gift for my partner back home also. Super helpful staff and turnaround was very quick. read more

I came in and tried to create a baby shirt for an upcoming baby shower next weekend. Each time I had to go get a staff member to help me get started, then again to put it on the shirt. It was like they were annoyed they had to stop talking to each other and actually do something. I am VERY aware of copyright laws and the information they gave was incorrect. The image I wanted on a shirt was not copyrighted but they refused to do it. I've been here years ago and loved it, but after experiencing such rude employees and no service, I won't be back. There's too many other businesses that are friendly and will offer help. I went not too far away and got exactly what I was looking for. read more

Alex helped me turn my germ of an idea into a fabulous design, and she was willing to try all kinds of things to make sure I was happy. And boy-oh-boy was I happy! ACME does some great work, and can definately pride themselves on getting their work done quickly. I wasnt a huge fan of the price however,which is why they get a 4 star in my book. When you walk into the store, you're immediately greeted by a wall full of colorful, witty, creative, and satirical designs. Each of the designs on the wall show case what the store has to offer. If you find one you like, you can have them print it up right there for you. ACME is really known for helping it' customers customize their orders to look however they want. They have a station in the center of the store with a group of iMacs specifically for customers to use in editing their design. Each member of their staff, from what I could tell, had been trained in graphic design in order to assist customers in designing their shirts. I was able to get some tips from one of the guys working behind the counter, who immediately stopped folding and came over to help me out when he saw me walk into the store. If you're looking for some smaller custom shirt orders, and need them quickly, ACME is definitely the place to go. this being said, there are a number of other places in town that offer much better pricing, as long as you're willing to wait a bit longer. That being said, I do like the atmosphere, and the helpful staff. read more

I ordered 5 shirts for Christmas. 3 out of the 5 were spelled wrong aftwr I showed her the exact short we wanted. They said I approved them which I didn't. I wasn't allowed to even touch the computer when I am a designer. 1 was off centered and the last one came back with black marks all over it. Spent over $100 and no presents. Worse they have no manager on site to do anything so I have no presents for Christmas! Won't be shopping here again. read more

Whether you're wanting something specific or just want to laugh at some clever t-shirt designs, ACME is the place to go. They use American Apparel shirts, so the quality is high, and have both women's and men's sizing. Basically how it works is you tell them what you want on your t-shirt and they use Photoshop & Illustrator to help you design it. You can bring them a specific image, font, etc., or they can help you find what you want on the computers in the store. They'll show you a preview and if it's what you want, you pay and come back to pick it up after it's ready. They also have their own designs worked up that you can have printed for your own shirt, as well as some that are ready-to-purchase in the storefront. Any time I've had a shirt made, it's been done the same day, although I'm sure it varies depending on how busy it is and how many shirts are in your order. $25 or so will get you just the shirt you want and you can be the envy of all your friends! read more

I always try to resolve an issue with a business if there is a problem before I would even think about providing a bad review. In this case, the staff was not responsive to my calls and emails to resolve the issue of bad workmanship, and was unreasonable in how they handled the reprinting of the shirt that was clearly not acceptable. UPDATE: As a result of this Yelp review, the store manager quickly reached out to me to discuss the outcome of this issue. She was able to provide a very fair resolution and I look forward to visiting the store to try again with a future purchase! read more

Some friends and I stopped in ACME to make a shirt for a groom-to-be to wear at his bachelor party. The staff helped us turn a hilarious Facebook photo of his face into a two-color shirt-worthy graphic, and helped us sort through colors and fonts to make the perfect shirt. I've made two shirts there now and both times I've been so happy with both the people there and the outcome of my shirts. Both times I have a design on a flash drive I bring in--they put it through Adobe Illustrator and make it compatible with their system. The whole process is lightening fast and you can watch them and tell them how you'd like it. (Size, color, etc.) In addition to the colors they have on hand, they have a binder of color fabric swatches that you can special order, too. The actual print on the shirt is high quality stuff--it's not like a cheap sticker. (One of mine was printed with ink and the other feels kind of raised, probably because it's white on dark background.) It's even better with the fact that it takes about an hour for your shirt to be done. (The special orders for colors not in-store take about a week.) Considering the shirts run about $20 or so (and the design is included in that price), it's definitely worth your money to give them a shot. They know what they're doing! This place is beyond Unprofessional. I took a simple design in to be printed on a shirt for a bachelorette party. They had problems with the design so I went home and drew the Design myself and illustrator. I spent an hour of my life making sure a design was print quality and ready to be printed for them. I emailed them three different file versions to be extra sure they could work with them. I then called to make sure they received my design and that it would be ready by 3 PM the next day. They assured me that was more than enough time to have the design done and that my files looked good. I asked don't you need to take my name down or something so you know what order it is for they replied no not since we have your email we should be good. went to pick a shirt up as I was on my way to the party And oh guess what, they didn't print my order because they said I was supposed to pay before they printed a shirt. Nobody told me that after I had went in , emailed , called them several times To make sure my order would be completed. I'm now on my way to a party for my best friend without the gift I designed that I really wanted to give to her. I will never do business Again. They are unreliable unprofessional, period. read more

Have cloth, will print. Acme offers a variety of softies soft shirts, undies, baby gear, tanks and hoodies for you to decorate. They have a large selection of iron-on decals that they will then iron on for you. If there's a very special shirt you want to make, this is the place to go. They have kiosks set up with USB ports that allow you to bring those personalized pictures to be printed on just about anything. I should also mention that you can bring your own cotton delights (button up shirts, totes, skirts, dresses, etc.) for them to decorate. I highly recommend Acme for your very creative iron-on needs! Be warned: The prices can add up for extras. Specialty items are pricey. read more

Walking along Mass street one day, we came up with a fantastic idea for a t-shirt. How CONVENIENT that Acme was right there for us to put our t-shirt dreams into reality. We told the staff member our silly idea, and she was totally into it and ready and wiling to help us. She knew what she was doing with the graphics and the design program and whipped right through what would have taken me 4 hours I'm sure. In the end, we ended up with a funny shirt that no one else has, and all done within 2 hours! The only downside is it was a bit pricey, but for a custom job in good timing, well worth the price. This place is SO great, I'm going to need to fine something similar at home. They have a whole bunch of awesomely great (did I mention this place is great?) pre-made graphics you can put on a t-shirt; I made my younger, Arrested Development-obsessed brother a Bluth Company t-shirt. Also, if you are more creative than I am, you can bring your own graphic to put on something. The prices are extremely reasonable, probably less than you would spend on a t-shirt already made in the store. The staff was sooo friendly and helpful, and I love it that they will text you when your shirt is ready, which usually only takes a couple hours. When I came to get a price estimate the person that helped me was kind, friendly and very knowledgeable about font style and choosing text font color. I was happy that I decided to go the route or choosing a small business over ordering over the internet. HOWEVER, When I went to actually order the shirts I had a completely different experience. The girl that helped me was unfriendly and refused to help with suggesting a font that would look good with the vinyl I had chosen for the text. She seemed annoyed that I would even ask as evidence of her facial expression, tone of voice and zero interest in trying to help. The manager than made the situation even worse by loudly asking if there was a problem causing all of the other employees to begin staring at me. She provided no help in resolving the situation. Even stating that they are so busy and can only spend 10 minutes with a customer. It seems she didn't notice my 18 month old and that I was trying to get it of their as fast as possible due to my son squeaking! My paper that I had written my price estimate on disappeared with the girl that was helping me and ended up paying 37 dollars per shirt when I was quoted 25-30 dollars. with a possibility it could be 33 dollars. Also I was told it would be the same day or the next day when I first went to the store, however my order will not be ready for three days. I didn't feel comfortable to ask why due to the experience I had already encountered with the manager. Needless to say I would recommend ordering from the comfort of your home and using an internet company. Avoid this store. read more

We have had ACME make a few of the shirts we have worn and every time I was blown away not only by the final product, but their helpfulness and ability to take exactly what I imagined and turn into an amazing design. When I was on a trip to Lawrence 5 years ago, had acme make a t-shirt to repay my dog sitter back home. They did such a good job that the shirt, though my neighbor wears it often, honestly still looks brand new. I'm headed back to Lawrence soon and will definitely buy from Acme again. read more
