Know what it's like to live in the world of Back to the Future. An absolutely adorable treat to experience Acme, an envy of the rest of Northern Neck. Mechanicsville just has a generic Baskin Robbins, but if you take your girl to Acme right here in our very own Tappahannock, she'll never forget it.

Great little Ice Cream Shop along the main drag - Ice cream was great but the environs are even better! Think old gas station housing a mid 20th Century malt shop. The shop is decorated with a mashup of memorabilia to gaze at if you're eating inside. There is also outdoor seating in back if you are so inclined. They were scooping Hershey's ice cream, but it still hit the spot (we stopped here twice on the way to & back from our vacation). People at the counter were great - this is a great pit stop if you are passing thru the area!

Cookies and Ice Cream? Together at last! And I don't mean as a sandwich. That's right, Acme Ice Cream Parlor offers several ice cream flavors that are partnered with America's favorite baked treat - the cookie. As soon as we arrived at Acme Antiques and Ice Cream Parlor, we knew we had found someplace special. The entire store was adorned, inside and out, with unique and fun antiques. There was an antique lion who greeted us on the way in, and an antique giraffe who bid us goodbye on the way out. And who doesn't want to sit next to Elvis with their ice cream cone!? Even the patio had an antique circus car that looked like a fun ride! We were lucky - we arrived when there was a lull in business. It didn't last long, as the place was packed by the time we got our orders! So, let's talk about cookies and ice cream. Acme offers a variety of flavors featuring cookies! Caramel Cheesecake Cookie Monster. Oatmeal Cookie Craving. And many more. So what did we enjoy? My husband opted for his tried and true Oreo Cookies and Cream in a waffle cone. A coffee fan myself, the Coffeehouse Cookies and Cream Oreo ice cream was the perfect choice! I paired my coffee flavored ice cream with another exquisite flavor - the Coconut Almond Chocolate Chip! Together, the flavors of coffee, Oreos, and biscotti made for a luxurious summertime treat. On the way out, the line was still backed up! Service was fast and friendly from start to finish. Everyone was so patient. They must know how delicious the ice cream is! Parking was plentiful within the parking lot outside the store. We didn't need to use the restroom, so we don't know about those. There was also plenty of seating inside the store, as well as on the patio.

ACME means at the peak or highest point... and this ice cream parlor is the pinnacle of frozen delights!! If you love soft serve like I do, this spot is for you! Not only is the ice cream amazing, Hershey's scoops, sundaes, root beer floats, etc., but the cool, retro decor will certainly keep you entertained bite after bite! Tons of toppings and flavors, you sweet tooth will be more than satisfied! Love the life size statues of Betty Boop, and circus animals! What a fun place for a delicious treat! The service was fast, friendly, and attentive! The prices are as sweet as the ice cream! We went on a breezy summer day and can't to go back! It's right next door to the most awesome antique center in the Northern Neck!

This place is the coolest! Delicious ice cream in such a unique setting. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area. And check out the antique shop next door too!

They offer hand dipped Hershey's ice cream and soft serve in cups, cones, waffle cones, sugar cones and waffle bowls. Decor is most likely provided by the Acme Antique shop next door and is a fun mix of vintage carnival ephemera. Ice cream was delicious and reasonably priced.

This ice cream parlor is next to the ACME Antiques store in Tappahannock. Please do not make the mistake of zooming by, or entering the antique store without coming next door. Featuring Hershey's Ice Cream, there are a few dozen interesting flavors at reasonable prices. And the staff is VERY friendly. The whole place is decorated in old toys, amusements, circus memorabilia, and bright colors. It's just a lot of fun. And the air conditioning was heavenly on a hot day!

New owners ruined it. Me and my family have been coming to NN burger for years, like since 2015…read more When we came back eariler this year, the table service was terrible. Picking up your order from the counter was perfect, it was quick and the food was fresh. The table-side service they do now is a huge problem. Our food took forever to get to us, and it was cold and soggy. A minor problem that I wanted to point out is what they did to the fries. The famous twister fries are now two separate things, "twisters" and "chips". The only difference is that the "chips" are shorter; the difference is also not specified on the menu. It used to be that you ordered fries, plain and simple, and you would get a mountain of them. Now it's a confusing process to get them and what you end up with is a measly handful of cold and soggy fries. The live music is still great, but everything else just took away the uniqueness and excitement of this place. This place used to be the best burger place ever, very genuine and a local favorite. Now it is just a cheap tourist trap. Will not be coming again. TLDR; the table-side service takes forever and ruins the quality of the food, the menu adjustments are confusing and vague, and the new portion sizes are way smaller.

And since the star of the show is a burger, they did NOT disappoint. I had a classic bacon cheeseburger and enjoyed every last bite of it. In fact, it dork slapped me that I don't go to burger joints enough! If this spot was closer to me, I would definitely return more often. With them I had their fries. They were CLASSIC fries. Very good and perfectly prepared. If it had any downsides it would be that they ration your ketchup portion. With the prices these days I didn't appreciate that. The atmosphere was wide open and clean. Plenty of covered seating outside. And, best - they had plenty of good staff. Always the sign of a great management team. Pro-tip: They have their own parking lot and plenty of street parking around. However, there is a VERY busy intersection right next door which makes is stupendously difficult to leave in some directions. Take that into consideration on your planning: how to get away from the place.

UPDATE REVIEW DustyPending…read moreDusty My son and I visited this establishment 3 months ago, I was treated so disrespectfully by the manager because of the iced coffee I ordered was pure sugar no espresso. They "fixed" the issue still was not good, but I left with the coffee any way. We decided to go to the winter celebration last night November 29. We had to pay $38.00 admission. The vendors were all packed up and gone. No hot chocolate, or cookies to decorate yo be found. Hay rides were not available. I decided to talk to Katherine the manager to see if I could get my admission money back. I explained to her that there was nothing open all the stuff was gone. She proceeds to tell me that it should all be available until 9. I tell her that it was all packed up. I told her that I have cancer and I can not walk back down there to try to figure out their process again as I had already walked down there to no avail. She to say the least was of no help. We walked away 38$ poorer and did not get any of the attractions promised for the price of entry. Needless to say 2 trips to this establishment and disappointed twice by the managers that should be there to help. Thank you Katherine, for not returning my 38$ in which I spent for nothing to see. I at least could have used that money to purchase food. Needless to say I will not go back for a third lest down.

They not only had hand dipped ice cream and soft serve, to include every variation of sundae and milkshake and "blend," but they offered a lunch and breakfast menu too! They make all of the ice cream and most of the treats in-house. They also partner with local businesses to sell things like custom straw cups and lotion. The cashier was super patient as we sorted out our order, and they will bring your order to you at a table outside or to your car. Outside there are picnic tables, cafe tables, Adirondack chairs, and a swing set for the kiddos. The ice cream was soooo delicious! I got a blend, and there were huge pieces of candy included. Definitely worth a stop if you are nearby!

We were able to sample different kinds of ice cream in the process of figuring out what we wanted. They have a great selection of ice cream and sorbet flavors! Like their name suggests, they do not shy away from big scoops! The scoops we have in the attached pictured was for the medium size (2 scoops of different flavored ice cream) and it was more than enough for us! We highly recommend this place for the generous portions. The ice cream itself is also very good (I had blueberry cheesecake and banana pudding, yum). Beyond your usual ice cream scoops, they also do shakes, sundaes, banana splits, and more. And they also have a claw machine for all the claw machine enthusiasts out there!
