My male therapist cranked on my neck, causing a sprain and two bulging discs in my neck. For the past two months, I've had extreme and constant headaches and neck pain. I've missed work and I spent thousands on follow-up doctor visits and imaging. Before my encounters with Mallers and Swoverland, I had never had any problems with my cervical spine or headaches. In addition to the injuries sustained, the therapist made several inappropriate comments and performed "tests" that were inappropriate. The therapist's commented that my headaches and neck pain were due to my period cycle. He stated that my cycle was causing the pain and it wasn't my fault, part of being a woman. I didn't care for the therapist's repeated scoliosis "tests", where I would bend over for a very long time, long enough that I ended up standing up on my own, without any directions from the male therapist to do so. He also had me open my mouth as wide as possible, and would then make statements that I couldn't open my mouth very wide. He would then ask if anyone ever told me that. He stuck his ungloved knuckles in my mouth to prove that I couldn't open very wide. Remember, I went to PT for pain in the front, right shoulder. No complaints related to my mouth, facial muscles, or spine were ever expressed. Wish I could give them negative or zero stars.

The male physical therapist did not treat my shoulder, never once touched my shoulder. He did injure my neck, state that my pain was related to my cycles, stick his hands in my mouth, and completed multiple rounds of scoliosis tests. The PT was overall very handsy, even when not necessary. For example, placing his hand on my shoulder when he sat next to me. Just placing it, not for any treatment purposes. Details are below. I would not recommend this practice to any family or friends. I especially feel that female patients should be cautious. The therapist that I felt abused me is unlikely to be fired from the practice, as he is heavily intertwined in ownership. In the second appointment he cranked hard on my neck hard. Within hours, I had severe pain in my neck and headaches. I've been in pain since this appointment in early June. A recent MRI confirmed that the pain resulted from two bulging discs in my cervical spine. Surgery may be needed to fix the damage caused by Mallers and Swoverland. As PT continued, I stated at each appointment the pain in my neck and headaches were not getting better. At the last appointment, the PT questioned if the cervical pain and headaches were a result of my cycles. I'm in my mid-40s. Prior to this therapist laying hands on me, I never had cervical pain or headaches. When I denied that the pain was related to my cycles, he continued to question if it was, and stated that it wouldn't be my fault, just a part of female hormones. During multiple visits, the PT repeatedly forced me to open my mouth as wide as possible, and would ask if anyone ever told me I couldn't open my mouth very wide (remember, I'm seeking treatment for pain in my right shoulder). The therapist surmised that the pain in my shoulder was related to tight facial muscles. On the last visit, he stuck his ungloved knuckles in my mouth to prove that I couldn't open vary wide. My upper teeth scraped his knuckles as he pulled his hand out of my mouth. I tasted his skin for the rest of the visit. Also, the reason that I attempted PT is to relieve pain my shoulder. The pain in my shoulder continues. Finally, something to note is that at least one of their 5-star reviews were written by an employee, not a patient.

The drs are caring and friendly and they know what they are doing. The office staff is wonderful and respond quickly when you call or text. They also offer therapy in addition to spinal adjustments. This is something that other chiropractors I have seen, do not offer. It's a definite plus if you want to change your body and feel better.

I had been on a long two year road of several needed surgeries that had caused nerve damage to my pelvic area. I had a hypertonic pelvis due to the stress and all my pain. I ended up seeing a doctor in Chicago that recommended Terri who she felt was the best therapist in Fort Wayne. I had been to Steppin up for a few weeks when I was referred by my Dr here in town but they really didn't do much for me. The knowledge at Steppin Up just wasn't there. Steppin Up versus Healthy Expectations was night and day! On the first day I met Terri, I really couldn't do much of anything . Sitting and walking was hard to do. I just felt terrible and very depressed. Over time she taught me skills on how to release and stretch my hips and pelvic area. Calm my flared nerves that caused me so much pain. Terri taught me ways to breath to relax my tense muscles. I stayed dedicated to seeing Terri twice a week along with my Dr in Chicago. I did all the homework Terri gave me to do and listened to her calm words of advice. After seeing Terri for almost a year, I am almost pain free. I have started doing things I used to enjoy and slowly feel my life is returning back to normal. It's so important to have a good physical therapist that understands the process of healing, patience that is needed to fully heal and pushes you. I entered Choice using a walker! I had cleaned my carpet…read moreseveral days earlier.....leaving my lower back with so much pain. My GP Doctor did CRT scan and X-rays. With the results my Doctor gave me a detailed schedule to follow. A list of Orthopedic physicians in our area, physical to start according to their schedule and follow their schedule. Seeing a Ortho/Nurse Practitioner, gave a complete list to follow. Physical Therapy to start..... My husband had gone to therapy several years prior, Brian Roth as his therapist. Finding Mr. Roth at Choice in Auburn. Mr Roth took time with the exam, he started slow, pain tolerance was his concern. Three days a week that included muscle stretches, rotation, walking backwards on treadmill.....etc. Each day of therapy was a win! The walker was placed back in storage, I could drive myself to Choice, and feeling stronger each day! I quit muscle spasm meds! Each day eased muscles soreness and doing several of the stretches at home!! I was advanced to just two day per week and have an appointment with Orthopedic Doctor next week for prognosis to date.
