I have hired this Stanley Steemer two times--once in July 2024 (5 stars) and once in June 2026 (3.5…read morestars). Stanley Steemer has hundreds of company-owned locations and locally owned franchises across the country. This particular location operates in the Pittsburgh area. Its services include cleaning carpet, air ducts, dryer vents, upholstery, tile and grout, hardwood, area rugs, etcetera. Unlike some competing businesses, for cleaning carpets, Stanley Steemer does not use steam but rather hot-water extraction. Their vacuum pumps hot water into carpets to release dirt from the fibers, and then powerful suction extracts the water and dirt. 2024 review: Through the business's website, I scheduled an appointment for cleaning carpet in my guest bedroom, upstairs hallway, and basement stairs in the morning. Many convenient times for available in the week, so I did not have to wait long for an appointment. Two employees, Dominick and Ray, called me when they were on their way, and they arrived at my house on time. They spoke very courteously to me, and they did an excellent job of cleaning my carpets. They connected their vacuum to the spigot in my garage, and they spent over one hour cleaning my carpets. My carpets had old stains from the previous homeowner and from my dog and cats, and the employees were able to remove most of the stains. 2026 review: I made an online appointment for an arrival window of noon to 4 PM. The first email confirmation said my correct city, but their second/reminder email said an incorrect city. On the day of the appointment, Stanley Steemer called and texted me that they were on their way and would arrive at 10:30 AM! I hurriedly got ready for their arrival. Two employees, Johnny and Wilbur, arrived. The one who was in charge walked through my house to look at the carpets, added up the total price with a coupon, and he pressured me to add on a deodorizer, which I declined. They spent 1 hour 45 minutes cleaning my carpet in 6 rooms, 1 walk-in closet, 1 hallway, and 1 stairwell. (They did NOT have to move any furniture.) The employee in charge said that they removed a lot of cat hair from my carpet, and he pressured me to adding on ScotchGuard for stain protection, which I declined. He commented on the cost to replace the carpet. He asked me if I have any children, etcetera. I walked through the rooms, and I saw that some pet stains were removed, and others were not but probably could have been removed if they had tried. He asked me to sign three agreements on his tablet without showing me the on-screen text. The total price for the carpet cleaning, tax, and tip minus a 15% online coupon was $495. (A competing company would have cost more according to their online estimate.) I used my credit card to pay, and they thanked me.

While there was initially a misunderstanding regarding a carpet cleaning service at my rental property, I greatly appreciate the way the company ultimately handled the situation. After I shared my concerns, they took the time to listen, review the matter carefully, and reach out to me directly to ensure my experience was fully understood. What I appreciate most is not that a problem occurred--every business can face challenges--but rather how the company responded. My concerns were escalated appropriately, and I felt genuinely heard and valued as a customer. Their team demonstrated professionalism, accountability, and a sincere commitment to customer satisfaction. As a gesture of goodwill, they offered to provide a future carpet cleaning service at my convenience, which I greatly appreciated. More importantly, their willingness to revisit the situation, communicate openly, and work toward a satisfactory resolution showed that they truly stand behind their service and care about their customers' experiences. I am grateful that my concerns were ultimately heard and addressed appropriately. The effort made by the company to resolve the issue and make things right is sincerely appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to listen, respond, and stand behind your service. For that reason, I am happy to update my review and recognize the professionalism, integrity, and customer care demonstrated in resolving this matter. Companies should not be judged solely by whether challenges arise, but by how they respond when they do. In this case, the company showed a genuine commitment to making things right, and that is something I truly value and respect.

Given that my ac went up a few years ago and my furnace broke down twice in a year I knew I probably needed it. They came out and dude the inspection. They took over 100 pictures and spent over an hour there. Then sat down with me and showed me several options from how to nurse it for a few years, to simple fixes to get better performance, to whole system replacement. Given the struggles and ptsd from my experience I went with whole system replacement. They then had several options for that. They walked me through all of my options and scheduled the job for the very next week. They arrived punctual and performed the job in one day. All of the workers are so nice and just a pleasure to meet. They almost feel like family. They even played with my pups and my birds! For what I got the value is amazing! I will for sure stick with these guys and will tell everyone I know to use them, if I could give them 10 stars I would!!!

Needed a water heater replacement the day after Christmas. Took advantage of my 79-year-old…read moregrandmother, pushed her into signing a contract for a tankless water heater that wouldn't be installed until 3 days later for $7000 total, $3000 up front. Didn't give her other options. Called another place (Mr. Water Heater) that replaced it with the same model 50 gallon we already had, same day, for $1400. The woman we spoke to was APPALLED that they would charge that much. Wahl put that it was an "emergency service" onto the back side of the contract that originally said she had 3 days to reconsider, which waived her right to a full refund, and they kept over a THOUSAND dollars of her money as a "penalty". The penalty amount was not listed anywhere, on the contract or the website. Clearly it wasn't actually emergency service, since they came during business hours on a Friday and couldn't do it until Monday, and someone else was able to put it in same day, not calling it an "emergency", for less than a QUARTER of what they were charging. Essentially stole an elderly woman's money the day after Christmas by feigning urgency and using legal loopholes. Classy. Stay away.
