A few months after becoming a member, I tried spinning classes, which were fun and challenging. I…read moresoon noticed the seats, set parallel to the floor, didn't fit my anatomy. I was sliding forward uncomfortably. I brought a wrench, raised the front of (just)one seat a notch, and then it didn't feel as if I were struggling to stay on. I chose the narrowest, least padded style, similar to a racing bike saddle. The owner told me I was the only one who preferred that kind. There used to be a 'needs fixing' sheet for members to list equipment problems. Some had written complaints that the bike seats were 'tipped.' So, the staff flattened all the seats. I went to Lee, the manager, and asked politely if I could have one seat (just one seat!) adjusted to my comfort. I was met with an expression of surprise and mild annoyance. Denied. The classes were never full so nobody would've been forced to use a 'tipped' seat. But even if all the bikes in the spinning studio had been taken, there were four more in other parts of the gym, which I never saw in use simultaneously. One seat on any of those could've been adjusted without forcing anyone to use a 'tipped' seat. And of course, the seat posts are interchangeable. So, on it went: I'd adjust a single saddle, a staff member would flatten it, and the charade would begin anew. I politely raised the issue with Ruby, the owner; she said she'd put a note on a saddle to not flatten it. A week later she reneged, implying Lee wouldn't allow it. The reasoning: If one was changed, then all could be changed and Lee wasn't willing to deal with that. Denied again. BUT, he accommodated all those who complained about 'tipped' seats. That's not fair. He could've easily worked with me and gotten to 'yes.' The seats are adjustable for a reason. The entire business is BASED on human anatomy, including its--ahem--variations. I was 'nudged' by the former manager shortly after starting my membership. Under my original 4-star rating on this page, she added a note asking me what it would take to add a fifth star. Consistent, prolonged and respectful treatment as a valued member, I would've told her. But, my reasonable requests were repeatedly ignored. A couple of the staff(K and K) seemed to view me as demanding, difficult, and treated me with veiled hostility. And then there's this: The two managers, Lee & Jen, plus Lee's wife, wrote 5-star reviews on this page. These are conflict of interest violations per Google usage rules. Owner Ruby added praise and thanks below these 'reviews.' P.S. The managers' illegitimate reviews and owner-added comments have been deleted. October 2023.

I was only there for the 90 day trial and I'm a night owl, so coming here closer to midnight was quiet and at times, I'll have the gym to myself! It's a great gym. However, one thing I did notice is when I go take a shower after a work out and some bugs enter the bathroom flying around. At first, I was so hysterical because I thought a wasp came in, but no, idk what it is, but it's definitely not a wasp or mosquito. Other than that, great gym.

My last 5-star review for OneLife at Pike & Rose was posted in 2020 shortly after Maryland Gov…read more Larry Hogan lifted the COVID remain-in-place restrictions. Ever since then I have remain a committed member of OneLife at Pike & Rose for a number of reasons: 1. Pike & Rose staff and trainers are awesome! Everyone is willing to help and answer your questions. If you frequent the gym consistently, say 2 or 3 times a week as do I, gym staff and workout buddies will become a positive influence in your life. This helps you want to return to the gym on a regular consistent basis. 2. The outdoor astroturf workout space as well as the natural light throughout the East and South-facing gym always supply good visual energy. I have yet to find a gym with the high quality of natural light Pike & Rose supplies to members. 3. Local manager Skyler and Fitness Director Carolyn listen to members questions and/or concerns. The over all quality of the gym, the efficiency of equipment, the way in which members approach and use the gym are all on Skyler and Carolyn's radar. They may not be able to remedy a situation at any given moment for a number of valid reasons yet they will make a note. And they are always looking for ways to improve our experience at OneLife. Things do change for the better; new equipment arrives and class schedules are adjusted to help members. 4. The personal trainers are awesome! Every single one of them is kind, polite, friendly and approachable. You can always ask them a question or two and if they can't help you, they will direct you to someone who can. Over the years I have worked out with a number of personal trainers and I can guarantee you this: you fitness achievements will increase so long as you stick to it. What ever you are facing as far a personal limitations and/or goals go, your personal trainer will work with you to help you achieve your fitness goals while remaining mindful of any physical constraints that may need extra attention. Over time, the returns on your investment working out with a personal trainer will manifest themselves in a positive way (body, mind & spirit). 5. Lastly, the cleanliness of the gym and locker rooms remains attended to throughout the day. Cleaning staff are great, I enjoy seeing them as well when I work out at Pike & Rose. Keep at it and pace yourself. Slow and steady wins the race!

I love this location!…read more 3 Floor of fitness options: cardio, strength training, stretching areas, several group classrooms, red light therapy room, massage chair rooms, outdoor turf area, and saunas (within gender locker rooms). This gym is nicely constructed and renovated (from a different gym), and offers 2.5hrs of validated garage parking. No pool, but there are so many fantastic amenities and new equipment available, you won't mind. You'll get a warmup in trekking those 3 levels via stairs, but an elevator is readily available for accommodating all accessibility levels. Also, being located in the convenient area of Pike & Rose, there are plenty options to run errands, or grab food. I Highly recommend!

I loved the workout sessions! If you're new to the gym, I recommend this gym as a great starting…read morepoint. The personal trainers tell you what you need to do, the machine is always available when you need it because they plan ahead, and they help you with your form. That said, I wasn't thrilled with the 6 week program at the Rockville location. Usually, 6 week programs help you lose 20 lbs (or a percentage of body fat if you're under 200 lbs) in that timeframe. It was a few hundred more then the cost of just sessions, but I saw results pictures from other people and I was promised nutrition sessions, so I thought it would be worth it. At the beginning of my program, I didn't get any before pictures or starting weight check at the gym. All that I had to do on my own. The nutrition session wasn't super helpful. I already watch a lot of videos on the topic and I aim for 100g of protein a day, so when I said what I was currently doing, they said to just keep it up and we never talked more about it. My other complaint is that not all the trainers use the app correctly. I came to the gym at a few different times depending on my schedule that week. The morning trainers never entered the weights I was lifting into the app log, so when I went to the afternoon trainer he wouldn't know if I progressed at all since I last saw him. That was kinda annoying because I'm paying over $1000 for a trainer and they don't keep track of my weights for me, I had to track that myself. The afternoon guy was good at using the app though. Hopefully they fix that. Overall, love the workouts, form critique, and direction in the gym. Accountability was good too since you scheduled sessions in advance. I wouldn't recommend the 6 week program. I started at 176.8 lbs and ended the program at 176.7 lbs, but I can see a little more muscle definition on my arms and I started thinking 30 lb weights were so heavy and only good for farmers walks, but now I use them in dumbbell overhead presses. I just feel like I didn't get anything extra out of it. Gym was worth it but 6 week program was not.

Everything in there is meant for you to get better, faster, stronger: - The personal training - while small group and not 1-1 - works out well and remains intimate, while giving you time to breathe between sets. - The bootcamp classes are never the same and you get the high intensity workout your body craves. Can I give 6 stars, please?!?…read more Z Sweat is my happy place!!! I love that this studio focuses just on Zumba/Zumba toning. Mariela and Nati are hands down the best Zumba instructors I've ever had (and I've taken oh so many Zumba classes!) They are fun, energetic, kind and engaging and truly invested in their students' experiences. The enthusiasm in class is absolutely contagious. They've recently brought on another instructor, Alyona, who is super high energy and fun as well. The choreography and music at Z Sweat are the best. Zumba contributes to better physical and mental wellness- many of us slimming down, getting more fit, and getting major stress relief from class. And getting fit while dancing with your newfound friends is pretty awesome- I know I definitely prefer it to a treadmill! What keeps me coming to Z Sweat, and makes this place so very special, is the sense of community and comradery. So many friendly people and smiles throughout class with a "Zumba high" lasting the whole day long. I always look forward to class at Z Sweat. I would encourage anyone interested to check this studio out. You won't regret it!

Theres people of all ages and demographics here, which i personally love. There was a lady in the front who was super toned and giving 150% and i loved that because it made me want to go harder. There are also elderly people there and that also made me smile :) One thing that I could say wasn't my favorite was the shape of the studio. It is a very skinny rectangle and i was kind of off to the back left so I felt kind of squished (it was not crowded though). I also wasn't the biggest fan of the specific routine that day, but i wont really consider that in my rating. The only other thing is that it seems like a lot of the people there already knew the routine so it was a little hard for me to keep up with the instructor but im honestly not too worried about that because for me the point of zumba is to be active so it doesn't matter if im hitting all the moves right. The classes also are pretty cheap i think, so thats nice. Id definitely come again!
