The trip was made somewhat affordable for our family of five, because I was able to use my IHG employee rate. Our trip was booked for five nights from Thursday 2/13 through Tuesday 2/18. Knowing that our flight would be arriving late into OKC and taking into account the drive from OKC to Lawton, I called the hotel front desk the afternoon of 2/13. I explained that we had a reservation, but would be arriving after midnight. The person who answered told me that it was no problem, she would let the night auditor know. When we arrived at the hotel at 1:30 in the morning, the night auditor, Gina, told us that she canceled our reservation and that the hotel was sold out. I had a reservation confirmation in my email that I was able to show to Gina. She proceeded to tell us that the hotel was sold out and there was nothing she could do about it. She was unapologetic and made absolutely NO effort to help us whatsoever. All she could suggest was that we get on our phones and try to find another hotel. The hotel's policy states that if this should happen, they are REQUIRED to find us other accommodations, arrange for transportation, and cover the cost. Gina did none of this. Instead, she asked us to leave (it was now 2:00 am and below freezing outside). She insisted that we leave before WE made other accommodations, even though that was her job as the host. She then proceeded to call the police on us. We were not loud, belligerent, or threatening in any way. When the police arrived, they understood our frustration and there was no further incident. Our family then checked into My Suites next door. Since they could not accommodate us more than one night, we then checked into Homewood Suites for the remainder of our stay. The manager and the Holiday Inn was not on duty when we went to speak to her the next day. Instead, I have been dealing with IHG. All I am requesting is compensation for the difference between the rate I had booked and the rate we had to pay at the other hotels, which is a difference of about $350. To a family like us, that is a lot of money. We took the trip to visit our son because the employee rate allowed the trip to fit into our budget. Paying a much higher rate at a different hotel does not fit into our budget.

My most recent memory of Blondie's was seeing some guy get a beer bottle bashed over his head. Never saw that before in real life. I thought that kind of thing only happened in movies. You see, this middle aged fellow was there with his new girlfriend. But his ex-girlfriend was also there -and likely already had quite a lot to drink. Seems natural. Rejection can lead to lots of drinking. Rejection can lead to fighting as well. Anyway, these two ladies get into it. Their fists start flying. The boyfriend just had to jump in between and separate the two. In one fluid, sweeping motion, ex-girlfriend swiped a longneck beer bottle off a table and smashed it on the back of the guy's head! The movies never show just how much a head bleeds when a glass bottle is smashed on it. I mean this poor guy bled all over the back of his shirt. I'm sure he needed several stitches at the hospital. Reasons for the two star review? The bar is tiny. It's in a crappy area of town. If you're not worried about getting your ass kicked inside you're going to be worried about your car getting jacked outside. And besides, I just bought a huge mug of beer when that guy got the bottle smashed on his head. The cops got there and we had to leave. I think I had only two or three sips out of that mug. Arrgh!
