This is currently Lawton's most popular bar. Most simply call it Scooters. Make no mistake it is a country bar above all other purposes. Scooters features a fairly large dance floor with enough room for a couple to step through some complex country dance moves. But arrive early to do anything fancy. Once the club is packed, the floor gets packed with couples and line dancers. Scooters tends to get very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights. The crowds predictably grew even larger when Scooters' main competitor, the Electric Cowboy, closed. The interior has a good amount of open space and a high ceiling. Cigarette smoke here isn't as bad as some other Lawton night spots, but if you visit on a crowded night you will smell like an ashtray when you leave. The mix of music is the usual of any mainstream country bar: blocks of recent country music hits separated by a few non-country dance tunes. The same complaint about the playlist here can be made at so many other places. The playlist doesn't get updated often and lacks variety. If you're there long enough, you'll hear "Atomic Dog," "Electric Slide," "Pussy Control" and that damned "Cha Cha Slide" thing played at least once or twice. Just about any bar will play "Back in Black" by AC/DC as an attempt to make us white guys happy. But that song is not meant for grinding on the dance floor. Air guitar and slamming a shot is more appropriate. The crowd can get pretty rowdy at times. Fights were not all that common in the past, but more have occurred recently. The upside is there are plenty of bouncers and they do immediately eject those who try to get violent. Scooters features three bar counters, a beer cart (on the weekends) and a staff of servers. The place is prepared to serve the volume of customers up to what the fire code will allow to enter. Variety of beers is average (you will have to travel elsewhere to find anything exotic). I'm not the best one to judge their mixed drinks since I'm mainly a beer drinker in social situations. I give Scooters a three out of five stars rating. It might rate higher if the music playlist was recycled with a wider variety of more current stuff. read more

Pros: cheap 3.2 beer, pool tables, beer pong. Cons: trouble everywhere, cover to get in, lots of townies, same music, cigarette smoke everywhere, and impossible to get a cab. This is one of the more popular weekend bars in Lawton, but is definitely a hotel in the wall compared to most bars in America. First of all, I'm not a big fan of dance clubs and certainly not country music. That being said, I will still give Scooters a great review. Nearly every business review you see for this town begins with "Well, for Lawton this is okay." This place is great by any standards. As others have said; this is mostly country music and any other tracks they play are fairly dated. The prices were great, the bartenders were EXCELLENT, the dance floor is fairly large and the crowd is diverse. My wife, also not a country fan, had a great time as well. A very standard roadside country dance hall/bar. Was exceptionally surprised with fri night .75 cent domestic bottle beer, was a hellava deal!.. And any coin on Thursday will get you a beer as well.. Can't beat that. Smoking inside is ok but isn't that noticeable as its a large structure so your not smelling like an ashtray after you leave. Entry was 5 bucks but the beer prices more than offset that cost. I came into this establishment with high hopes, hoping to relieve stress and enjoy myself for the first time in months. I witnessed a verbal and physical altercation between patrons in front of the main bar closest to the entrance. Shortly after the forementioned altercation I witnessed, one of the African American security guards place his hands on a white patron that was supposedly involved physically in the altercation, that I witnessed. I simply questioned the forementioned security guard on what I observed to be an abuse of authority, in which he had no right to place his hands on the forementioned patron. He then non-directly threatened to "kick my ass" verbally twice. After which he called his fellow security guards to surround me and ask me to leave. After I exited the establishment the "floor manager" continued to inquire about what happened to me outside. I informed him of what I witnessed and he "claimed" that he would look into the security cameras, and question the forementioned security guard. I then returned to my vehicle in which my "DD" was driving who also witnessed everything that occurred. He informed me that he was listening to the police scanner and heard that the police were dispatched to C W Scooters, in reference to a "disgruntled patron that witnessed an altercation, in reference to a white male named "Brandon"". I then walked back towards the entrance and questioned the "floor manager" asking politely if he could please page my friend to have him come outside since he was part of our original "3" person party. At which time LPD had already arrived in response to the "disturbance" call. The man I talked to in place of the "floor manager" informed me that the police had not been called on me, "lying to my face". Then tried to express his empathy towards me, stating that he hopes that I decide to come back. Lol, I will never be back as long as I live, and I hope that anyone else that reads this review feels the same way! read more
