I called Ace this year for an estimate to chip several large piles of tree trimming that I created and to remove 7 pepper trees that burned in a fire. Gil came to the property the next day, gave a very fair price for all the work I needed to have done and said his crew could do the work two days later. The crew arrive right on time, did everything they were asked to do but the cleaned up several other unruly pepper trees in addition. Gil was scheduled to give me a quote and never showed up or called. An hour past my appointment, I called the office to get an update and the receptionist said his car broke down and they would need to reschedule me. They couldn't get me in for another 4 days and when I asked if they could put me in sooner the receptionist was super rude and said I could just go with someone else. I have used this company in the past, but will NEVER use them again. Love how the receptionist was rude to me, when they were the ones who no showed for an appointment and didn't even call. Really annoyed that I have to write this... Ace just cut down a large tree on my property that died. I had been clear when they came out to quote that the tree needed to be completely removed as we were planting another tree in that spot. When I came out to check progress I saw that they cut it down to the stump and I clarified again that it needed to be removed completely. They pushed back insisting that the work order said to cut it level. I tell them it doesn't matter what the paperwork says, it needs to be removed. After more pushback and back and forth it becomes clear they are not going to remove the stump for the quoted price and I say fine, just let me know what it will cost because it needs to come out. Now the foreman has the owner on the phone who continues to blame shift and give me grief... saying the quote stated it was to be cut level... whatever. Stop arguing and just fix the problem. I am trying to get past the obvious misunderstanding to get the damn stump removed, but he keeps putting the onus on me after I've already agreed to pay more. At this point he says on speakerphone that he told me "ten times" they couldn't remove the stump. This was a bald-faced lie... we had NEVER had a single conversation about removing the tree stump or stump grinders. Not one. Which is why there was confusion ffs. Long story short, I told them to forget it and leave. So instead of making an extra $300 on the job they lost a repeat customer. I'll remove it myself. read more

We hired Ace to correct drainage problems in the back yard and oak tree trimming. Gil, Daniel and crew were very professional and did a great job for us. The drains were root compromised so they re-routed them and put some root guard barriers in to make the new drains last longer before the roots get in again. Santa Clarita City approved for oak tree trimming - they know what they are doing and won't over cut and harm the trees. Highly recommended. read more

I have been Using Ace for 15+ years. I have 2 gigantic Canadian pines on a vacant lot that I bought 30 years ago so no one would build and ruin my view. Trees grow! I called Ace and Gus came over to give me an estimate about 15 years ago. I asked him to make them "Disneyland trees" with lots of airspace between branches and no topping. He understood completely. I have used Ace Tree Service for almost 9 yrs now. I have a large pepper tree that I get trimmed every year. Gil and his crew have always done a very good job and a very rate. I usually have to call them 2 or three times to remind them. This yr when I called, I left a msg to call me in regards to my annual tree trim of my pepper tree & I didn't receive a return call, so I called again 2 days later. Talked w/Gill & he said, "....it would be at least 6 wks or more b-4 he could get to it." I understand that this is a busy time of yr for tree trimming, but I reminded him that I have been using them for 9 yrs and in the past they have worked me in w/in a wk or two. He wouldn't budge. I said with the Holidays you mean it would be after Xmas or 1st of yr? He said, "yes". He said that he would check his schedule and call me back the next day. Well, he never called and it's been 1 wk now. I called Maria in the office to see if she could get through to Gil, but she said that Gil does all the scheduling. Pretty rotten way to treat a customer that has been loyal to you for 9 yrs, recommended you to several people and pays the bill the day of service. Called them yesterday. Spoke to Gil about removing a quite huge old PIne tree that curved over my 6 ft.fence and somewhat over the street and was becoming dangerous. He was nearby and was here in a half hour with a very reasonable price. Made an appointment for this morning at 8. They arrived promptly...I spoke with the man in charge, Frank, and they began the work immediately. The Tree was gone in just under an hour and the tedious-looking clean up in just under 30 minutes. I called Ace Tree Service to have a couple of olive trees trimmed, I'd used them before and was happy with the service they provided. Gil came to give me an estimate and it was right when I needed the front yard landscaped. I had no idea they do landscaping too. He scheduled me in right away. We've used Ace for years and they've generally done a decent job. This year, when we called for our annual trimming, Gil their estimator quoted 50% more than last year for less work. We needed to have a tree cut down that was too close to the roof, and our big pittosporm needed trimming. Ace has trimmed the tree twice previously. The first time the tree had a big split and they cabled it together, trimmed it, filled a gap with tar, and saved the tree. All within one day of getting my frantic call that it had a big crack! Each time, Gil comes out (on time, at a convenient time for me), assesses what needs to be done, writes up a detailed bid, and we set a price and time for him to come with the equipment and workers. I came home the afternoon after he did the trimming, and there was not a single leaf on the ground, no sawdust, no mess, no crushed plants. Their prices seem fair to me. read more

The Crew that performs the trimming has always been great - The Office on the other hand is not doing the business any favors. Being promised a return call does not happen and when the Office is being called out on the situation be ready for rude excuses. They leave you with a feeling like you have to beg them on your hands and knees just to get an estimate and it was not the first time this happened. I'm done with this abuse and I'm looking to do business with a company that will appreciates my hard earned money. read more

He could tell a beetle was destroying the trees. He treated the trees, cut away the dead branches, and applied fertilizer. He saved two trees and the other three are growing back. I have been using Ace Tree Service for six years and would have given 5 stars but this last call to them for service was very disappointing! I have them out for the same exact job every year and we had gotten to know each other and I would always refer them to family and friends , but for some reason this year I had to call 4 times to have Gil come out for an estimate he said he didn't remember me each time. I had gotten to know him through the years and I have a very distinct tree that is hard to forget. I felt something was different but thought I would try one more time. The last phone call again he kept trying to remember me and when he finally did he gave me a quote $500 higher then the last time I had service. I was shocked and actually thought with our history and the tough times with the pandemic he would quote me lower then the last time. I am very loyal and was hoping they would be too, especially with all the business I sent there way. If their work was worth the extra $500 I would have continued with them, but I couldn't justify the extra expense on average work. Gil came to look at my tree. It was very bad pest have got to the tree . needed to be remove I got 4 other company out here to see if it was the same it was. To Remove the tree it cloud fall over soon in a big wind storm. Ace is a big company with INS and Lic and workers ins. that's why I went with them. I've used them twice -- for fairly major jobs, removing a large tree up against my property line and trimming & shaping a large front yard tree that had never been touched. Gil came out, evaluated things, offered alternatives, gave me a very specific estimate. They came when they said they would come, ten minutes early, and came with a large crew and several trucks. It was like a military operation. And they have an aesthetic sense, didn't just hack away the green. I wanted a little less taken off of a row of ficus and the foreman told me the requirements relating to powerlines and told me how quickly the bushes would grow back, now cut back and shaped away from the wires. Ace Tree Service came out to do a major tree trimming at our condo complex. Close to 50 trees were trimmed in 3 days. Francisco and his team were punctual, did an amazing job and cleaned up like they were never here. They submitted a reasonable proposal and were able to schedule quickly. We were also have sprinkler issues and Francisco came out and replaced our timers in a fast and cost efficient way. Francisco was very helpful and his team was fast and efficient. Used them before and they were great. Will never use them again! Received a proposal in early August and was told they would come when they were doing another job in our neighborhood. Never heard back from them despite numerous calls and email. Finally had a date set up and sat home all afternoon. Finally called them to see where they were and were told that the man who set up the appointment never should have set it up-he was at another site. Left more messages. No return calls-ever. Called again a few days ago and said it's fine if you do not want our business but can you give us a referral. No return call. Just called for a last time and the woman I spoke with said that she knew who we were, that they had tried to let us know that they had to cancel that day. When I responded that no one contacted us she started talking on top of me and said that she has e-mail proof. As a retired sales person I cannot think of a worse response to a prior customer after 2 straight months of no responses. Not sure if they are under new management, but we will never waste our time with them again. read more

These folks did a good job when I could get them to come out. A year ago, they came out once to assess an ailing tree and seemed very knowledgeable. They charged us about $700 to trim the tree properly, and they told us they would contact us in early spring to come back out to feed the tree. I finally called them in April, had to call half a dozen times over two or three weeks and beg them to come out to do the work. They finally did the work for another $250. This year, when we called to get another tree trimmed, they never showed up for their appointment, and when I called to reschedule, after they swore they would call me back that day, I never heard back from them. I got a quote from another highly rated tree service in the area. They charged me a lot less to do the same work, and they showed up exactly when they said they would. They know what they're doing, but they're overpriced and unreliable. read more
