They cancel reservations and leave you stranded with no other options. Even though I still see a reservation in my account. Don't use them

I am writing to formally complain about the unacceptable experience my family and I had with…read moreOlympic Rent-a-Car on December 30 following our arrival in St. Croix. I had reserved a rental vehicle months in advance, fully aware that cars in St. Croix must be booked ahead of time. On December 30, we traveled from Las Vegas to Charlotte, NC, and then onward to St. Croix. While in Charlotte, we were notified of a flight delay. I immediately contacted Olympic Rent-a-Car to inform them of the delay and was explicitly assured that our reservation would remain valid for up to 24 hours. I was also given a phone number to call for shuttle pickup upon arrival. When we arrived at the St. Croix airport later that evening, I immediately attempted to contact Olympic Rent-a-Car to arrange shuttle pickup. Every call went directly to voicemail. The recorded messages referenced "Mike" for roadside assistance and a towing company. I called both numbers in an attempt to reach anyone associated with your company or to determine whether there had been a miscommunication. I also left multiple voicemail messages, none of which were returned. As it was getting very late, and with no response from Olympic Rent-a-Car, my family and I were left stranded at the airport. We were forced to take a taxi at our own expense ($80) just to reach our cottage. By the time we arrived, all restaurants were closed, and we had no food, as we had planned to stop for essentials on the way--something we could not do without the rental car. Olympic Rent-a-Car left us without transportation, without food, and without any assistance. The following morning, I contacted your office and spoke with a woman who informed me that our reservation had been canceled. She could not explain who canceled it, when it was canceled, or why it was canceled. She further stated that even if it had not been canceled, there was no vehicle available to rent. Her attitude showed no concern for the situation or the hardship caused to my family. I was told that the owner, Sol, was out of the country, and that the manager, Darrian Knight, would contact me. To date, I have received no return call or explanation. Based on the circumstances, it appears that our reserved vehicle may have been rented to another party at a higher rate, despite our confirmed reservation and prior communication regarding the flight delay. If this is the case, it is completely unacceptable and unethical. This experience caused significant stress, inconvenience, and unexpected expenses at the very start of our vacation. I am requesting: A full explanation of how and why our confirmed reservation was canceled Reimbursement for the taxi fare incurred due to being abandoned at the airport Appropriate compensation for the disruption and hardship caused

If you are a tourist to the island and find yourself renting from Olympic, BE WARNED! This place…read morewill do whatever it takes to scam more $$$ out of you. ANYTHING, beyond what the car comes with at the time of rental, that is left in the car will cost you on the return of the vehicle. The attached pictures contain what Olympic deemed "Excessive Sand" in the car. When asked, they told me that they wouldn't let me take the car across the street to the car wash and it out vacuum it out because they said I had already returned it. Even though all my luggage was still in the car?? They just wanted the exta $150. Thank goodness my credit card company (Chase), saw the pics and agreed that they had attempted to scam me. They did me right and got my money back from these thieves. RUN AWAY!!!

I see quite a bit of Yelp angst with some lowly reviews for this establishment, and I must concur…read more It is poorly run, and the employees I met have a lot of attitude. I've rented here twice, and I'm unlikely to do so again. Here are some of the issues. It takes a long time to process one person, so if you're third in line, count on a 30 to 40 minute wait. When they finally complete the paperwork, they then hand you a multilayer form, to review your vehicle which is in the lot. That means, you then have to walk to the lot, note the preponderance of damages that adorn their mediocre vehicles, walk back to the counter, and hand them the form. Then, you are done. So third in line means a 40 to 50 minute wait. When I mentioned the laborious process, the woman responded curtly, "that's the way the process works." The car had so many issues, I circled every area of the car, citing dozens of dents, dings, scrapes and paint issues. Almost every panel had some type of issue. However, beyond these cosmetic issues, lies a more serious problem. The tires were balding and in bad shape. Most of the time the weather is good in St. Croix, but when it rains, this isn't the vehicle you want to use. The return was worse than the pickup, with the male attendant yelling at me, "Hey where are you going?", as I walked toward a small building that looked like the return center. And I responded that's where I was going. He then said something like, "well hold on, you don't go there, I handle the returns." Our conversation continued and not in a positive direction. In a rudeness race against the woman who process my paperwork, he wins for top rudeness. Suggestions that would help Budget: 1. I entered my information when I purchased online, if the systems aren't compatible, why doesn't Budget enter the info BEFORE people arrive. 2. Inspect the cars BEFORE people arrive, then it will take less time to document all the damages. 3. Use newer vehicles in good condition! 4. Replace bald tires. 5. Customer service training for your employees. Hey folks, politeness doesn't cost you a nickel and can deliver great dividends. We think St. Croix is a great island, but unfortunately Budget St. Croix is not a great rental operation. If you think I'm exaggerating about the condition of the vehicle, check out these photos!

I called back the next week, was strongly reprimanded for calling, and was told that I would receive a call when the item arrived. I asked why I was being yelled at and the individual calmed down significantly, but continued to speak in a stern tone. The third week, yesterday, I received a phone call and was told that the item would cost over $400 more than I was promised and that it had never been ordered. Yesterday evening I sent an email saying that I would like a refund and would be picking up the car. This afternoon, I called and asked if they had received my email. I was told that the email had been received and the car had been ready this morning along with a check. I explained that because of my schedule at this point in the day I would be unable to pick up the vehicle until tomorrow. I was yelled at and told that the vehicle had been made ready first thing this morning. I explained that I had not received a response to the email and did not know. The individual then yelled again and said they did not need to respond to the email. The conversation ended shortly afterward. Basically, I have been yelled at, provided with rude service, and lied to, and the repair I had been waiting for never got completed.
