There's a surcharge when paying for registration, but that is well worth the convenience that they offer. (They have to get paid somehow.) I can use my credit card, and I get the tags right then and there. No wait for the mail or other hiccups that can occur when trying to pay through the DMV. Sometimes there's a bit of a line. The line does move quickly. But I'm also happy to go grab a coffee somewhere and come back.
