I had an appointment for 8:30 AM, but the Ace Lock employee got lost and showed up at 9:30 AM. He was very friendly and talkative. He changed five locks in my doors and gave me four sets of keys. One of the locks was put on backward, so the knob side was outside and the key side was inside. My husband pointed out the error, and the locksmith corrected it. All of the keys and locks work well. Best locksmith in Pittsburgh, without exception. We used them when we moved into our new house 16 years ago. They rekeyed the whole house for far less money than I would have expected. My wife has used them for all of her rental houses ever since. She is always pleased not only with the cost but their great response time. The other week one of her tenants had a break-in (while they were home. The had left their keys in the door). Ace Lock was out within an hour of opening the next morning to change the locks. Their service call fee is always more than reasonable, no matter what the circumstances. In another instance, I have a vintage motorcycle that had the key broken off in the lock. Not expecting much, I took the lock in to them without a lot of hope. They were not only able to take the blade out of the slot, they were able to make a new key from the blank I had. In addition, they gave me the number I need to make another key in case I lose the new one. I had a deadbolt/door handle assembly on my front door that I was convinced had been installed improperly, and after a couple of years of dealing with its maddening idiosyncrasies, it failed entirely and I was no longer able to enter my house through my front door. I called Ace Lock, and they sent over Matthew who immediately recognized that the entire assembly had been installed by someone who clearly didn't know what they were doing, just as I'd suspected. Matthew tore apart the entire assembly, made the appropriate fixes and adjustments, and in the end was able to show me features of my door handle assembly that I didn't even know I had. To top it all off, he arrived within an hour of my call, and he accomplished the entire repair operation within an hour of his arrival at my home. He clearly knew his business and was thoroughly professional in every way. I couldn't be more pleased with my front door, and I couldn't be more pleased with Ace Lock for their great, prompt service. Contrary to what it says above, they actually are open on the weekends. I wish I knew that so I wouldn't have ended up with another locksmith who insisted they needed to drill our lock open. Wasted so much money that way. Should have gone to Ace first. They fixed the lock for $230 (they had to come out) and they said they would have opened it the first time for $120, not the $187 I was charged for drilling into our door. read more

These guys are the best! Fairly priced, efficient and very customer focused. I've used them over the years and most recently had a service call with them that ended on a very positive note. When they came over, I'd just solved the problem myself before I had a chance to call them back...they waived the service charge due to me being a regular customer. I had never been there before, but in a recent move a file cabinet was locked and we couldn't find the key. I put it in our van and drove it to Ace, arriving before their official opening time of 8 am . They were already open and when I described the problem one of their people came out to the van to look at the cabinet. He pulled out some lock picking tools and had it open in perhaps three minutes. He looked in the drawers and found the keys. Of course I was happy and asked how much I owed. We went inside where he conferred with a colleague. The charge was $0.00. I thanked them and was on my way home by 8:10. The office looked very professional and I would certainly go there again if I had another problem. I wouldn't even object if they charged me! read more

I already had a transponder key for my truck but needed the key cut so I could use it. They did it right then and didn't charge me anything.

I called this company to get a quote to rekey or exchange two locks after losing a house key in the shuffle of my recent wedding. I was told there was an $82 service charge for the first hour (every other place I called was a standard flat $29.99 service charge) and I was offered $15 to rekey each lock instead of replacing them. Someone from the company called me back and at that time I very politely asked to clarify whether they thought rekeying the two locks would take more than 1 hour because I did not want to get stuck with extra unanticipated charges. (I don't think this was an unreasonable question to ask). Out of nowhere the guy's tone completely changed and became extremely impatient and patronizing, stating what I already knew, that the "FIRST" hour was $82 and that if I had two cylinders it should take exactly one hour, skirting my question of whether I would be charged more. Then he started saying something about how his truck's key maker didn't work and he would have to bring the exact keys out and really impatiently asked me to find my current key and read him the serial number. At that point, I just said, don't worry about it I'll find someone else. read more

As someone who relies on reviews, I was anticipating great service from Ace Lock. And following my appointment this morning, I now see why they score highly. Not only was my initial call met with a friendly, and patient voice, but, they traveled a bit outside of their service area to take care of me. As they had promised, the locksmith (Tony) called 30 minutes prior to arriving and was on time. He was friendly, and caught an issue about my deadbolt that I wasn't even aware of.
