Located in a long and narrow downtown building, the store has a variety of hardware ranging from screws and bolts to paint and barn gadgets. Older men in suspenders are available to assist you, and there's something interesting to find in every aisle. Sure, it's kind of unattractive, cramped, and din, but it works. You'll find what you need here. Need keys cut for your RV? No problem here. We even brought in a paint can from Lowe's and they were able to skillfully color match the paint. WIN. This place may not be as big or have as many options as Home Depot or another national chain, but it's local and they have heart. Support them. Give VanHook a shot before heading to a big box store. Oh, and on your way out, lift up the latch a bit on the door to open it.

Unfortunately, the delivery and service experience was extremely disappointing. For the initial delivery, I never received a call or text with my delivery window. I had to call that morning to find out when they were coming because the online status had not been updated. The washer and dryer were installed and tested, but after working once, they immediately stopped working. I contacted Home Depot customer service and was told someone would come out the next day to inspect the units. It took five phone calls just to get a service window, and I didn't find out until 9:30 p.m. the night before that they would be arriving in the afternoon. Because I had no idea when they were coming, I had to cancel previously scheduled morning appointments. To make matters worse, two installers arrived who did not speak English. They communicated by speaking into their phones and having me read the translated messages. After determining the washer and dryer were not working, they simply told me to call Home Depot. When I contacted customer service again, I was told they could replace the washer and dryer on Saturday. However, once again, I would not receive the delivery window until 7:00 p.m. the night before. That means I have to rearrange my schedule yet again because Home Depot cannot provide customers with a reasonable delivery timeframe. When customers spend several thousand dollars on major appliances, they deserve better communication and more consideration for their time. While the in-store sales staff were excellent, the delivery scheduling and customer service experience have been frustrating from start to finish.

Chevy Chase came through for me. There is plenty of off street parking in the back plus a back door for customers. The inside of the store seems huge but its hard to tell since the aisles are narrow and it looks like its two buildings put together inside. The rows of aisles is endless it seems. I got there just before closing and did not have time to browse the whole store. Staff was super friendly and extra helpful. I highly recommend this store for your home maintenance needs.
