We hired Coastal Prefinished flooring for a bathroom tile job and bedroom wall to wall carpeting…read more Tile job was a disaster. The guy the owner sent showed up intermittently. He gave excuses. The owner did not have a clue and never followed up. When we complained, the owner expected us to deal with and manage his worker. Awful. The tile job was awful. The owner had the tile guy "fix" the job, but it came out mediocre. The tile installer was unprofessional and hardly showed up and we simply had to get the job done so we accepted the final crappy job. The owner did not look at or review the job once. We learned that the installer never installed an underpayment under the flooring per the work order. He installed directly over linoleum. We have no idea how long the flooring will hold up snd the owner provided 0 guarantees. It was too late once we learned what happened. He's awful. Please stay away from this business. For the carpet install, we have no complaints with the installer. The owner installed a crappy underlayment pad. It was worse than our original pad. We are very disappointed. He gave us 0 choices. I only gave a 2 star rating because the carpet installer is very good and he happens to work for a crappy owner. I would stay away from this business.

I contacted a number of contractors to inquire about repairing the concrete floor in the basement…read moreof my 80-yr old home in Portland. Jamie from Custom Concrete of Maine was definitely the right person for the job. He replied to my online inquiry and came to the house to check out the project within 24 hrs. He gave me a detailed cost estimate before he even left the house. The next day, he worked a 10+ hr day and completed the project. He communicated clearly with me about the extent of the work; he told me when to expect him at the house; and he gave me project updates along the way. Based on my experience with other concrete contractors in the area, Jamie's rates are very reasonable. In the end I was happy with the repaired floor. He's one of the good ones and I wouldn't hesitate to work with him again!

It doesn't seem plausible to me that it would be necessary for them to be there since the fire department would be too busy dealing with a fire to talk to them. I realize that going to a fire is far more exciting than meeting with a prospective client. These last minute cancellations have happened to me twice before with other companies I have made appointments with in the past year. It must be clearly understood by the managers of these companies that people often times have to take time off from work and deal with other inconveniences to meet with workmen and last minute cancellations are unacceptable. You only get one chance with me. Next time I will reschedule and purposely miss the appointment and let them know what it's like to have someone waste your time.
