After purchasing a quality, heavy gauge telescoping flagpole, I needed a strong base for mounting it on top of our concrete in our backyard. Now, for all the inexperienced and "nay-sayers" out there - I successfully installed this flagpole on top of a solid concrete pad (6+ in. thick) as pictured. I almost ordered another brand deck mount for telescoping flagpoles, but after more research I found a comparable and less expensive "Dock Mount for Telescopic Flagpole" (3 iin. O.D.), thru "Ace Flag & Visual Promotions" out of Depew, N.Y. Their customer service was awesome, very friendly and very helpful! I installed the Dock Mount with four "Parawedge" 3/8" x 3-3/4" concrete anchors from Home Depot. (Be sure the drill w/masonry drill bit is held as vertically straight as possible while drilling!) Directions call for min. 2 3/8" depth of hole but recommend adding ¼" to that depth, making sure to completely cleaning out holes after drilling, by blowing in them with a baster type squeeze tube, small rubber tube or even a bent straw. I did have to lightly tap the threaded studs left or right after installing them for a better fit of the base plate. I also recommend applying a corrosion inhibitor and lubricant spray to the entire telescoping pole sections which not only protects but helps in smoother movement. I also treated the studs and nuts since they are only galvanized steel and exposed to the elements. Since installation over a week ago, the flagpole and mounting base have withstood several days of very brisk winds here in southern California! Very pleased with both!

Great service from this store. Helped us find what we needed. Flag pole ball , this store has everything you need as far as flags and poles and lawn ornaments. Nice that they give military discounts.

Enormous military selection and they offer a military discount.

I had a little spare time while passing by again today, and pulled in. I was immediately greeted by Riley, a good natured Golden Retriever with a tail on non-stop wag mode. Passing through the door, I was also hailed by Dan Curtis, who owns the shop with his wife, Julie. Dan warmly welcomed me right away. For a small, cozy shop in someone's home, it is PACKED full of lovely things; handmade candles, birdhouses, decorative hand painted signs, antiqued furniture, floral arrangements, tea, etc. And even though the sheer amount of goods was a little staggering, there was definitely order to it. I was immediately charmed. While I browsed, Dan chatted with me and another customer perusing the shelves. "95% of the things you see in the shop are made right here by my bride," he informed me. "There's nothing she can't do." Looking around, it was hard not to be impressed. A few minutes later, Julie came out, and like her husband, I found her very gracious and welcoming. She was happy to chat with us. For handmade things, I was surprised to see that the prices really weren't as high as I expected them to be. I picked out three wall accents, and I think I spent less than forty bucks. Not bad. I could have bought more (and wanted to) but my budget wouldn't allow it. This place is awesome, and I love love love supporting a local business, especially one run by such friendly people. I'll definitely be back - they have great gifts! Oh, and a tip - if you can't make it in during normal hours, you can make an appointment. And if you swing by off hours (within reason, obviously) and Dan happens to be in the shop, he'll open it up for you. Yay for a great locally owned shop! (PS. I wish I could give this place another star, for the adorable dog.)

Shhhhh I could spend hours in this store. Kirkland's has a great selection of pieces for every room in your house. This is a really good-sized store, too, so you are probably going to get what you need in-stock. Once upon a time, Pier 1 was right down the road from me. When they closed their doors for good, I was a bit bummed because I honestly had forgotten about Kirkland's. I don't go out to this side of town very often, but I was looking up home decor places online when I moved and lo and behold, Kirkland's popped up. I was so happy to walk back in their doors! Yes, there's Home Goods, and who doesn't love Home Goods? They've got a great selection, too, but I find the items at Kirkland's to be a step above. The store is arranged more nicely and is less picked-over. Sometimes at HG, you'll see things that are broken or dented in some way. I've never seen that at Kirkland's. Something else - they've often got a coupon or other discount you can use at the register, but I find their prices to be fair as they sell goods that are not cheaply made and rarely damaged. If you're looking for fall decor, Christmas decorations, something for Easter or Thanksgiving or Valentine's Day or summer, they've got you covered each season with fresh decor to make your house feel like a home.

I would estimate that only about 10% of the inventory was antiques and many of these were bigger items like dressers. Several of the products I looked at were made by small businesses, such as the soaps and seasoning I bought. We came in December so the store had a lot of Christmas decor while we were there. I'd love to come back during another time of year to see what they have then as well!

I paid a quick visit after going to Mayer Bros - this place is right down the street crossing Transit road, and is so easy to spot! They've got a small parking lot beside the building. The Olde Steeple itself is absolutely gorgeous - it's an old church built in 1880, and at one point the building had been burned down almost entirely. Extensive renovations eventually brought the Olde Steeple back to life, giving it new purpose by way of becoming a lovely shop, where you can now find some of the cutest home decor, craft items, even teas and coffee! The small barn in the back was donated to the Olde Steeple in 2010, and houses a ton of cool antique furniture pieces. I thought this place would lean more toward being an antique shop, but I didn't find very many antiques here besides what could be found in the barn. (They're listed in Sunday Driver, which is an antique shop directory for NY, so had guessed they would've had more antiques to offer.) I would classify it more as a country store if anything, though one that leans a little more toward the expensive side. I also thought this place would have had more locally made products. They had some awesome homemade jams, but the tea I bought came from SC, and one of the little decor items I bought came from China. The doily I bought also appeared to be mass-produced. I also noticed a lot of 1803 Candles products, which is a company based out of IL. There's nothing wrong with that, of course, but I would have looked more forward to spending what I did if they maybe had some Alpine Made stuff, or maybe some Amish linens and doilies? Maybe I got the wrong idea about what this place was supposed to be. But I will definitely visit again now that I know what sort of things they offer here. Just...don't plan on doing any serious antiquing at this place. Day 22

Buffalo winter took its toll on her interior real bad this year. We kept the outside as clean as we could, but neglected the inside. I'm flushed with embarrassment thinking about how bad I actually let it get. Remnants of Rusty, going to Smooches for Pooches, and other stuff... sad to say...We lost our umammi mojo. It's gonna take me a month to harness it again. Bring in Art Lazazzero, of Wilde Art. The date for Si's trip to the spa has arrived! Used their convenient key drop off box, Art called me to confirm our appointment and that he would call me when she's had enough pampering. "Dont forget to wash behind her ears!" I thought to say, but tucked that quip away into the severe cheesiness category. All day I thought about those spots he's NEVER going to reach. He can't get it that clean. Well.. I was wrong. We walked around outside while he explained his bathing techniques and massages with the buffer. My shines usually come out pretty good, but Art's was an exquisite shine! Saddle into my bucket seats a scan the inside. The feeling I got reminded me of settling into my cozy beach chair at the beach. I could not find a spec of dust, or Rusty's hair, or dirt, or shoe scuffs on the door. Windows impeccably clear. The dashboard is black and not grey with dust. Can this be true? The "spots" I thought he'd miss? Spotless! Umammi is back!! The time Art spent with Si, you'd think he was cleaning his own car. His attention to the littlest detail will bring this guy back often. We talked about his tinting and wrapping services too which I plan on coming back for.
