I went to Citibank in Monterey Park to cash a check issued from my employer because it's not from…read moremy bank and depositing it takes 7 business days from Friday, resulting in it being available a week and a half later. What can you do, right? Sadly, they end up having me to go to the Alhambra branch because they didn't cash checks there. Fair enough, I understand. Unfortunately it was 30 minutes until they closed at 5 and I was 15 minutes away and wanted enough time to complete my transaction. I get to the Alhambra branch at 4:45 and am helped fairly quickly. The person who helped me was very professional and polite and made me feel comfortable. With the way that I dress, I feel it's normal to judge me and don't feel any type of way about it and completely get it, but I didn't get that feeling at all here. The gentleman ends up verifying my check with my employer, the account holder the check came from and unluckily, I forgot my boss is actually in Europe, 9 hours ahead from 5. They answered but were not believing the call was legitimate and was a scam, which is understandable. The person helping me respectfully tried to explain it to them a couple times but had to end it afterwards due to them not believing it was real. The gentleman and another colleague of theirs were reassuring and super nice about the situation and told me to come back tomorrow morning, which I will. The gentleman helping me was even willing to wait after closing for me to see if they would call back after I attempted to call on my own phone, so I could cash my check. Really appreciated that gesture of kindness, but I definitely had to just come back again out of consideration. Just wanted to commend them for being honest, polite and patient folks. They truly turned my very annoying day, into a hopeful tomorrow.

There aren't very many Wells Fargo Banks (WFB) that are open on Saturdays in the San Gabriel Valley (SGV) area. Fortunately, I found this one right in Alhambra. Yes, I do drive all around SGV for good eats plus banking needs LOL. The outside has two ATMs available for use. The inside was clean and well kept. Upon my entry, there were a couple customers already at the teller station and no one was in line, but me. I was up next... cool! Just a tip, if possible, go to the bank when it opens and right before it closes so you don't have to wait in line for too long. The bank teller who assisted me was very nice. I asked for new $20 bills... she didn't have any, but she had new $5 bills so that's what I got. I should have gotten the whole stack of $500 worth of new $5 bills for future Lunar New Year gifts and/or any celebration red envelope gifts, but I didn't. Oh well... maybe next time. My bank visit was very quick. Got my money and I was on my way. Now that I know this WFB is here, I'll be back for sure. Thank you! P.S. This WFB is right around the corner or so from Jollibee and Tony's BBQ... nice!

There has been no change in the amount or anything unusual about the check, yet this branch decided it needed to be verified. What normally takes me about two minutes has now taken over 30 minutes, and I'm still sitting in the lobby with no clear explanation or answers about what is taking so long. I understand that banks have verification procedures, but there should be better communication and a reasonable level of efficiency for a routine transaction. This was not even my closest Wells Fargo branch--it was simply along the way. After this experience, I will definitely not be coming back to this location. There are plenty of other branches where I've had much better service. Very disappointing experience.
