I went to Citibank in Monterey Park to cash a check issued from my employer because it's not from my bank and depositing it takes 7 business days from Friday, resulting in it being available a week and a half later. What can you do, right? Sadly, they end up having me to go to the Alhambra branch because they didn't cash checks there. Fair enough, I understand. Unfortunately it was 30 minutes until they closed at 5 and I was 15 minutes away and wanted enough time to complete my transaction. I get to the Alhambra branch at 4:45 and am helped fairly quickly. The person who helped me was very professional and polite and made me feel comfortable. With the way that I dress, I feel it's normal to judge me and don't feel any type of way about it and completely get it, but I didn't get that feeling at all here. The gentleman ends up verifying my check with my employer, the account holder the check came from and unluckily, I forgot my boss is actually in Europe, 9 hours ahead from 5. They answered but were not believing the call was legitimate and was a scam, which is understandable. The person helping me respectfully tried to explain it to them a couple times but had to end it afterwards due to them not believing it was real. The gentleman and another colleague of theirs were reassuring and super nice about the situation and told me to come back tomorrow morning, which I will. The gentleman helping me was even willing to wait after closing for me to see if they would call back after I attempted to call on my own phone, so I could cash my check. Really appreciated that gesture of kindness, but I definitely had to just come back again out of consideration. Just wanted to commend them for being honest, polite and patient folks. They truly turned my very annoying day, into a hopeful tomorrow. read more

I went to Citibank today for 5 Month CD. Manager Yvette is a good manager, she knew me and said Andrea will be back at 3 pm, but I did not want to wait. Jeffery was available and opened the CD for me today. He is fast and accurate, I did not have to wait and wait like before. read more

Use a Better call system, no one answers the phones here and can't communicate with anyone because it hangs up on you for not selecting a number based on options that are clearly only for customers. I will be taking my business elsewhere. Don't waste your time. read more

First time at this location and I didn't even know it existed. It's located next to the post office off of Garfield Ave. This Citibank location has it's own parking lot in the back, which is easy to access. Staff is friendly and efficient. I was in and out fairly quick and didn't have any trouble. read more

Horrible phone system, and customer service. It was very difficult to get a hold to a representative. The Alhambra branch is under construction but no one knows when it will be open again. Operation hours still showed active. When i got there no signs for when they will resume business. After 2 weeks I called the branch number again, no one answered. It was connected to the central line and transferred between the lines no one can provide the update of the branch's operation. Very frustrating as this is the type of banking services only can be taken care in the physical branch. Citi needs to more responsive and thoughtful Bout their customers' needs read more

I'm afraid I disagree entirely with the other comments on this post. They are not just racist against Hispanics. They are very incompetent and rude to their customers in general. I am writing this review for my father-in-law, who is an elderly Asian. The branch manager (Tang) was extremely rude and treated him poorly. Alhambra Citibank is great. During the times that I go, there is hardly a line. If there is, the line moves really quickly and each teller ALWAYS smiles, greets, and even starts short conversations with you. Many of the tellers are bilingual in English and Chinese so there should be no problem if you only speak Chinese. There is usually coffee for customers as well...I have never touched it. When business is slow, someone will stand by the entrance and greet each customer who comes in. I think that adds a nice touch. The PB's are great too. Winnie is fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese and English, so my grandfather and my mother both ask for her assistance if they have to do anything beyond the teller desk. Because she has to deal with my family, I think she's a super trooper! read more

The worst experience of my life. For one I felt discriminated against being Hispanic. No banker or teller acknowledged my arrival. I noticed they had greeted everyone at the door. Second I waited over 30 mins to see a banker. No one acknowledged that I was waiting there. The main person greeted someone behind me and was going to take them next and I said excuse me I had been waiting here for 30 mins and haven't been seen. She didn't know I was waiting there. The people behind me stated to her that I had been waiting there for awhile. She said to them I am only helping Citi gold members. How the hell would she know if I was Citi gold member or not if she never asked me?! Racism at its pure best. I'm a Hispanic male and the only people she acknowledged where Asian and white. It such a dam shame that I can't even get acknowledge when I'm trying to open up an account. read more

The service and wait time at this branch is ridiculous . Do not walk in here unless you have an appointment.. I had to wait 1hr and 20mins.. **There is no sense of urgency here*** Bankers here have very minimal knowledge and don't know what they are talking about. (How did the bankers here even get the position?!) **!!BEWARE!!**The staff here will lie to your face just to get you out of the branch and not help you. The district manager really needs to guide this branch and educate staff to provide better customer service, have a sense of urgency and going out their way to please the customer. read more

Great location right next to postal office, since is often hard to find parking in postal office, i usually go to my bank since is just few steps away. Also you know is safe because is right next to the police station, very unlikely a rob could occur, line isn't long most of time except lunch time. read more

The staff at this bank are so sweet and helpful. Teresa and Yvette were great. This past Saturday my mom and I walked in hoping to do a seemingly (to us!) rather quick transaction that involved a medallion signature guarantee stamp. We had just waited an hour at the Pasadena B of A where they said over the phone they could not help us with this transaction only to learn they couldn't:(. Then came Yvette and Teresa to the rescue. Yvette explained the federal regulations they must follow and Teresa helped my mom in opening an account. So my mom and I will be back in 3 months for that medallion stamp, which BTW, Bank of America no longer offers at all. Both Teresa and Yvette stayed until 2:45 pm, well past closing, on a Saturday to help us with this and we couldn't be more thankful. read more

Citibank is the absolute worst bank I have ever dealt with. In the past month, they have double charged our bill pay payments to create a huge mess and caused us to be overdrawn. They then had the audacity to charge us an overdraft fee. I have also been on the phone with them for over 8 hours to try to track a wire that was received by Citibank but never made it to our account. I have been told to call different numbers and that we would receive calls back from supervisors multiple times but have never heard back from anyone. No one is willing to take responsibility for any of these situations and has wasted countless hours of my time. To this day, almost a full month after the start of our issues, we still have not come to a resolution. read more

This isn't my local bank so I don't come here too often, but when I'm in the area running errands I'll stop by. I usually don't write reviews but I felt compelled to write one because of the exceptional customer service I received here the other day. I was having the worst morning! Locked out of my apt, went to deliver something and the business was closed (even though they were supposed to be open), and just the usual bad drivers on the road. When I arrived at the bank I was in full grump face mode. But Florence, the teller was super quick and efficient with my transaction and was over-all friendly without being too pushy. It's so amazing what a simple smile (and good customer service) can do. Thinking back to previous times I've come to the bank they've always been good experiences: friendly, efficient staff. yay! read more
