Was in CT for a 5-day visit. I contacted ACE during my trip on a Saturday morning, where business hours were until 1pm. We were referred by friends who said ACE would take good care and resolve the issues with the truck. ACE owner (?) responded to say he was away on Saturday but could look at my truck Monday. We drove out to the shop that weekend to be sure we knew where it was. A small shop but plenty bays and a few cars on the lot. Looks like they may be a reseller for motorcycles or sell used cars/motorcycles also? The problem reported was that my truck would stutter between 40-50mph, then 60-70mph only on an incline. As much as this was a pain in the neck issue with driving al the backroads at those lower speeds, I felt that waiting a couple more days was ok. On Monday AM, I called ACE and asked what time to come in to have the truck looked at. Making a long story short, the owner said he could not take time to look at my truck as he was already busy. I asked then why he said he could help. He just repeated to say he could not take time to help. All he needed to do was take a road test of the truck and see if it was a simple issue, that's all we asked him to do. He continued to say no and if we were his regular customer, he would help. It's unfortunate that ACE could not at least assess what could be. Or, if he could not assist and knew it Saturday, then just say that Saturday. I wasted time waiting and could have gone elsewhere. If ACE had looked at the truck, he would have found out that the number 6 coil needed replacing. Could have made some money and kept a positive review with the business. read more

Great experience!!!! If you need car repairs, this is the place to go. Mike was great. he easily diagnosed what I needed to get my air conditioning running again. He gave me a couple of repair options and let me choose. He go the repair done on time, within his estimate. Since this was the first time he had seen my car, he checked out the rest of the engine and made some recommendations for me. Since I was due for an oil change, he did that too. As a woman, I hate going to the repair shop because I always feel I am getting taken advantage of...not with ACE.. I never felt like he was talking down to me or trying to sell me something i didnt need. I'll be returning here for all my repairs going forward... you should too! read more

When I was growing up, there was a neighborhood shop called Laborie's Garage, run by an old-time mechanic named Rollie. Rollie was honest, hard-working, skilled and experienced. In fact, the only problem was, he sort of spoiled me for every mechanic I ever met after him, because for about 30 years, no one else ever measured up. A few years back I was in an auto parts store waiting my turn at the counter, and some other customer was asking if there was anyone who would put a rebuilt engine in his '97 Ford Escort. He said that the shops he'd taken it to had said to just junk it. The parts guys told him, "that's a big job with not much of a payout. The only place I know of that does work like that is Ace Auto." I decided to try them out and I've never looked back. Mike, the owner, is sort of like Rollie Laborie, but with all of the advantages of formal training, certification, Alldata, and OBD-II diagnostics. He's also a licensed dealer and sells cars, and anything he sells he checks out carefully beforehand. As for his repairs, he doesn't push work you don't need, he doesn't cut corners, and he'll always take the time to explain exactly what you need, and why. If he finds additional work, he'll call you and let you know, and if you authorize it, he doesn't total up the time it would take to replace each part individually the way many shops do. You'll often hear, "I just did it while I was in there, no extra charge on the labor". Ace Auto is the only place where I've ever looked at the bill and felt the need to say, "I know you spent a lot of time on this, are you sure this is enough to cover the labor?" If you're thinking about taking your car to Ace Auto, just do it. I've sent many friends and family over the years and they've always been pleased. read more

I came here for a prepurchase Toyota Prius car inspection for a car on Craigslist. Although the transaction did not end up working out in the end with the seller, as a first time car buyer the help I got here was phenomenal. I was given advice about offers to make both on the low end and on the high end, about the cost of necessary repairs and how to factor that into my offer, and how the process compared to the NADA values and other cars in the area. It was an amazing experience. When I finally went to pay the amount I had been quoted for the inspection, he told me "Don't worry about it. Go buy your car!" He is fair, honest as they get, fully explains everything and your options and most importantly is a man of his word, if he says its going to be ready by 300..that is...ready by 300. Ace Auto is the real deal! We were first introduced to Mike when we had a problem w/ an unaffiliated tow service and he gave us free advice over the phone that ended up being the best solution and saved us a lot of headache. Since then we've taken both our cars to Ace Auto and always feel confident we are getting honest, knowledgable service AND the best price (I checked). Once when I dropped off my car for repairs he quickly got back to me to let me know there was a few recalls on my vehicle that would be fixed on Chevrolet's dollar - he even made the appointment and said to get those fixed free and he'd finish anything that wasn't covered. The owner of this place is wonderful! I took my car to him and he understood what I was describing. Took one look at my engine and found the issue in seconds. Fixed the issue and didn't charge me.
