I called this shop after being recommended & asked if they could replace my ball joints. The owner, JT, obviously didn't want to do the job. He asked me if I called other shops (I should've hung up on him). What kind of a shop doesn't do ball joints??? He finally agreed to take a look at the car. He made a big fuss that he would have to replace the lower control arms to replace the ball joints. WRONG! The ball joints are separate from the lower control arms on that specific Toyota. What an amateur!! It took him 2 days to change 2 ball joints & 1 tie rod. Then, I had to get an alignment somewhere else. A week later, I heard a noise coming from the front driver's side wheel. I took it back to the place who did the alignment & they showed me that the wheel bearing was damaged. Since JT & his crew had to take off the wheel & steering knuckle, I had no doubt that he destroyed the wheel bearing. It doesn't stop there - he didn't even secure 1 of the ball joints to the control arm. I would NEVER EVER go back & deal with this idiot JT. He gave me a sob story that he downsized after COVID & only does small jobs. Meanwhile, his sign says "We Do It All". Because of him, I fix my car myself. read more

JT has been saving my butt for years with my Lemon of a Jetta GLI. I was beyond broke living in Norfolk and JT was the one person I could trust to work on my car. He came highly recommended from his nephew whom I served with. Every time I had a problem with my car I would take it to JT and I rely on him to fix my car without taking worrying about getting rip off like at other mechanic places. I used to enjoy coming here and working with JT. His shop often used cheaper third party Asian parts, but he was friendly and polite and was usually honest and upfront about the work. Today when I stopped in, a different guy was behind the desk. Unfortunately, this guy was rather rude to me. He didn't directly answer one of my questions, so I repeated it, and he replied, "If JT were here, he'd tell you the same thing." JT may well have... but he wouldn't have been an ass about it. My review is for the Va Beach-College Park location because I can't find them on Yelp and they truly deserve some recognition! I get so nervous and uncomfortable whenever I have to take my car to any auto center. However, when it comes to the Accurate-Tune Plus College Park location, I don't feel like that at all and I believe it's because the guys here are just really nice & sincere. I've been to them for various car needs and I've thankfully always received great service. The only reason I've had to go to other auto shops is because this location doesn't take appointments and gets really busy (which is great for them but not so great for me!). I appreciate their affordable prices and ability to explain & address any car-related issues/concerns without being snarky or devious. I'm sure the other Accurate-Tune locations are also just as good but I know for certain this particular location is great and I highly recommend them. read more

Today was my second time coming here for an oil change. The first time i also got a tire rotation and state inspection. Prices are awesome, service is friendly and quick! I waited today for my car to be serviced and i was out of there within the hour. I actually think it was less than a half hour. Managers special was $69 full synthetic, and i paid exactly that no crazy "oh but we found this" just the service i asked for. JT both times was very personable, welcoming and straight forward. As a woman it's nice to find a shop where the employees allow you to feel safe and that's how i felt here. I always recommend this shop and will never go elsewhere. read more

Up until recently I have had great experiences with the shop. That changed today. Back On May 20, 2020 they replaced my rear brake pads. I moved to Georgia about a week later. Today July 7, 2020 I took my car to a different shop to have a tire fixed. That shop discovered that my rotor was assembled incorrectly and the whole rear pad and rotor system needed to be replaced. They said "Top caliper bolt not inside of the slide. Causing the brake pad to not be able to press fully onto the rotor. Since the rotor wasn't being slowly grinned down it became pitted." I sent pictures of the issue to a mechanic friend who confirmed the diagnosis. I contacted JT at Accurate-Tune on the phone because I no longer live in the area and he completely refused to work with me whatsoever because he wasn't able to evaluate my car himself. Even after I informed him I could send pictures of the pads. After how many times I used this mechanic is disappointing that they refused to accept they may have messed up. read more

These guys are super helpful. Went in for an inspection and explained I had a small window of time due to a deployed husband and preschool hours. They got my inspection done super fast. I ended up going back for an issue with my tail light prior to driving to Texas. I went in and they remembered me (not a lot of places can do that nowadays) pulled the car in within minutes. A few things to know: free oil change if you get your car serviced. If you need a diagnosis, it's $50, but will go toward the price if your bill if you fix it with them. Inspections are $16. A woman came in with a busted tire and they patched it up and sent her on her way in less than 30 minutes. $15. PBP - that's how I would describe this place - as in professional but not pretentious. Unlike some other places that will play soft music, have shiny leather couches and cucumber water, but will charge you an arm and a leg to get your car fixed, this place is not it. Walk in and you will see chairs, a pot of coffee and some robot movie playing on the television, and JT, the front desk man and mechanic who looks like he could have been a professional wrestler, who will greet you, tell you what's up with your car and give you an estimated wait time. He was courteous and professional and ensured my flux capacitor was fixed. His mechanics are hardworking and seemed very good at their craft. JT and I also had a conversation about how to keep business running smoothly and he seems the expert on it, always trying to resolve issues of negative reviews to make his business better, which he seems to have successfully done because there were a lot of customers. I got in and out within a few hours because they were busy and the price was reasonable, too. I am extremely happy with my experience there after a friend referred me to this place. Now I am referring it to you. They get busy, but that's because they are good. Cars are something I know nothing about and I need a reliable shop. It appears I have found that. Made 2 visits to this location to try and get my car inspected before the holiday weekend. The first was Thursday morning, but by the time I got there it was already at 1.5 hour wait, so I chose to come back Friday morning. I arrived around 7:45am and was the first in line! The guy at the counter was very friendly, and definitely in the holiday spirit (he had on a Santa hat). He told me he could get it done in about 30-45 minutes, so I asked him to call me when it was done and walked next door to the Chick-Fil-A for some breakfast. 45-minutes goes by with no call. I decide to head back over and I see my car sitting there with the current inspection on it. I don't know if it was the lack of communication, or what, but it would have been nice to receive the call once it was done. Other than that, staff was friendly and joking around with me. I didn't end up getting my car fixed, because JT was honest enough to tell me it wasn't a job his shop could handle. He even had a recommendation of mechanic shop that could handle the issue. I get notifications that my lights are out. But somehow 2 just went out before I went into the horrible place I visited. They charged me $10.00 per bulb. I never saw them change my oil. The dipstick still shows black oil. I had zero notification lights on when I went to the shop, but my tire pressure light was on when I left. I filled it up myself after being told they found a nail in my front tire.... while filling my tire, I saw no patch. But I did see a rusty nail driven into the tire. I was charged for 2 plugs. When I called to ask J.T. what they actually did, he responded, "come back!"...... I paid $112.00 for a state inspection & an oil change. I failed the inspection because of my fender reflector. They tried charging me $50.00 to repair it. When it's generally available in auto stores for $14.99!!! That's a gigantic price gouge! I could go on about what occurred as I waited..... I was also told, "first come first serve" but somehow 2 MEN were seen before me. This is absolutely pathetic. I hope other individuals do not have to endure what I experienced at Accurate Tune & NONSENSE. I will post my receipt if that's what it takes to keep this post up. read more

Accurate-Tune Plus has committed fraud against every customer who has walked through its doors. They false advertise a $16.90 oil change, drawing many customers from the community in because of the good price, then charge you for "supplies" not included in the price for things like the pen they had to use to write on your invoice or the rag they used to wipe their hands. Also, they violate their own disclaimer you sign by saying the "supplies" they charge you for will be 5% of the total invoice. My total, even with the fraudulent "supplies" charge, was $21.00, of which 5% would be $1.05. So not only are they falsely advertising, but they are outright overcharging every customer they have. The worst part was how the owner responded when I confronted him on the issue. He was belligerent and immediately defensive, because he knows he is a thief. Overall, it's not a bad price for an oil change. However, I (and I hope the rest of Norfolk) would rather pay much more than see Accurate-Tune Plus lie and steal from the community. Also, the oil they put in your car is from a large drum. Certainly not as clean or fresh as oil from sealed containers most shops use. It could even be used or recycled oil. My rear wheel bearing broke on the drive from CT to VA, and with only 40 minutes to closing on a Friday night, they not only looked at the car, not only diagnosed the car, but ordered a part early and fixed the car first thing in the morning. Let me start by saying I am a huge mechanic skeptic.. My first encounter with JT and crew was for my annual inspection. It was the end of the month and I had the day off so I decided to sit and wait for my car. It was a busy day for them and I watched probably 10 people walk in and out of the shop for inspections. All but 1 of those customers failed inspection - and the one that did appeared prepared for it. On top of the appropriate number of pass rates a number of customers walked in and out of the store that seemed to have great rapport and long term relationships with the team. I think this says a lot about an auto shop. My second interaction with the shop was just recently. I blew a tire and took my car to tread quarters up the street (where I purchased my tires) to have it replaced. Long story short, of course they found a "serious break issue" that was going to cost me nearly $600 on top of my tire replacement. I remembered the guys at Accurate-Tune and decided to call them up for a second opinion. Sure enough, after inspection by these guys my suspicions were confirmed. No issues with my vehicle and I walked out free of charge. JT and team - thanks for being stand-up, personable guys. Come for the oil change, leave before the inspection. I'm new to the area, looking for a solid mechanic, and probably won't be back. JT (I think that was his name) was a nice enough guy and offered a great deal for an oil change. I needed to get my fiancé's oil changed and my 2007 Toyota inspected. I should have listened to the other reviews about vehicle inspection, however, and I left feeling quite jerked around. The story: My mechanic back home suggested my wheels were out of alignment and I'd need a shimmy on one to get it back in place (costing about 50-100$). Yet, instead of this minor maneuver, I was pushed to get my struts completely replaced (on my newer car) to the tune of 700$+. Obviously I didn't do it and he wouldn't pass the vehicle. I know a thing or two, and to really 'inspect' the struts, he'd have to do more than quickly eyeball it. I couldn't help but feel that the 'inspection' was just a chance to up sell me for other services and search for a good mechanic has taken a hit. Update: Took my car somewhere else and told the guy why I failed the previous inspection. The mechanic checked it out, said there was nothing wrong my struts, and that my car was perfectly fine. Took my car to Firestone the next year, turns out it was indeed an alignment issue, no problems on the inspection pass. This place is a scam. read more

Inaccurate-Tune. My experience was displeasing and worst of all, inaccurate... I went there only to get an engine checked. I told him I can tell something is wrong, and just asked for a diagnostic check. JT told me, No problem, we can check it and if we find a problem, we will wave the fee for the diagnostic and apply it towards the fix. Well, that is a great deal I thought. So he calls me after I dropped the car off and said he couldn't see into the engine because it was so clogged, he had to clear it out in order to see into it. Wanted to charge me for an additional 100 to clear it out so he could "diagnose it". So I'm not that great with cars, and he sold me. He cleared it out, told me I had some other issue with my motor mount, and it would be 550 to fix it. He said, "but in the mean time, she is purring like a kitten; the check engine light is off, and when it's in your budget come back and he'll fix the motor mount." Well, "JT's kitten", lasted about 3 days, and my car started rattling. So i just decided to suck up the dealership price and I took it straight to Nissan. They took about 75 minutes, and came back with a full detailed review. They told me about very obvious issues to the complex ones. All in all, my my Engine oil gasket, Timing chain, right front inner CV joint boot, oil pan gasket, and Power steering pump. But thank you JT for your Diagnoses. I think I'll take my business else where. My experience with Accurate-Tune Plus was horrible. JT is a decent sales man, who hangs behind the desk all day. But, my diagnoses was way off. I'll never come back, and I'd never recommend this place to anyone. read more

My car is still pretty new and I have not had any major problems or issues, but I get so nervous when it comes to going to a shop. After calling around to a bunch of places and being told "first come, first served and we're booked for the day" or "it's about a 2 hour wait"...I decided to give up and run other errands. As I was heading downtown, I saw a sign for state inspections and decided the drop in and see if there was a chance of getting it done. I knew a headlight was out and told the guys that when I went in. They ordered the bulb for me, put it in, and I passed with no issues and without any surprises popping up. I was just there last week for an oil change and although it was the middle of the work week in the middle of the day, it was really busy. The manager, Mr. Turner (who is always so down to earth, friendly, and funny) got me in and out of there much sooner than I could have hoped for. We have had other work done as well and the prices are very competitive. The folks here are very honest and will not push anything you don't need, which I really appreciate. This is my mechanic now and I'm really glad I stumbled upon the place. read more

I am a female, therefore the moment I drive up at most mechanics shops, I get this feeling the guys in the shop are looking at me like a walking checkbook. Not at Accurate Tune! I stopped in my first visit to have a patch done to my tire. They had it done in 15min while I waited. It was so easy and cost me about $15. I went back in when I had an issue with another tire slowly leaking. I explained my issue and they took a look and came back letting me know they looked at everything they could only to still not be able to find what was wrong. Now, that may sound like bad service, but like I said, they are so trustworthy! They could've come to me and said I needed a new tire entirely but didn't! I really give them my trust after this visit especially. Most recently I was in for an inspection, just walked in, and as usual, easy conversation with the office manager and friendly dealings all around. They are very nice, friendly, and want to help. I've witnessed conversations they've had with other customers about larger repairs (over $400) and they always suggest ways to save money and make the best decision for the situation. read more

My car didn't pass the state inspection at another shop because of suspension handles. They said it would be $700 to fix. I took it to accurate tune up and JT told me he would do it for $528. I called 5 other places and asked for an estimate... All said $650-700. No idea what suspension handles are an how much I should have paid but this was the best deal I could find in the area. He also did my oil change for free and re-inspected my car. It was a good experience overall. Very nice people. Will go back if I need anything else. read more

Sigh...I've been here before and I've always received good service. I recently got a synthetic oil change for my car. It took about an hour for them to finish it. I'm disappointed because I feel like I got ripped off! I was charged a $20 labor fee for a simple oil change.
