There was one major difference this time, I was referred to THIS amazing surgeon! The staff, from start to finish and front to back, are perfect. I was so nervous and miserable but after my consultation I felt much more confident. They got my prescriptions sorted out and prepped me for what to expect on the day of my surgery (1 week, a very quick turnaround). The actual surgeon is the BEST medical professional I've ever interacted with. No exaggeration. On the day of my extractions he explained everything that was going to happen and really put my mind at ease. They knocked me out so efficiently I don't remember even feeling funny, I simply woke up with everything done! Leaving, I received a take home kit with all the info I needed, an adorable penguin ice pack to use on my jaw, lip balm to help with dry lips, and a device to spray medicine or saltwater on the extraction sites. They also called the next day to check on my progress. With the promise that I could always call with questions or concerns, our business was concluded. Honestly, I'm so grateful for the care I received here. I'm also glad that I'm now a patient here, If I ever need a similar service there's no question I'd come back here.

They replied that they did. Later, I found out they do not accept Aetna DMO and that I would have to pay. I contacted the office with my concern, and they told me they would resolve the issue and contact me within a few business days. I did not hear back for almost six months, so I believed the issue had been resolved. After six months, the billing coordinator called and said I had to pay $92, accusing me of not informing them that I had Aetna DMO. I clearly stated that I informed them I had Aetna DMO both before my appointment and on the day of my visit, and I have the original email as proof. She did not listen, insisted I pay, and threatened to send the bill to collections. She also accused me of not knowing what insurance I have. I was very upset and went to the office in person. She was not welcoming, did not apologize, and did not acknowledge that this was not my fault. She said she started the job in August and was unaware of the issue, and even said, "Do you want to argue all day?". Unbelievable . I did not want to talk to her anymore and then they said DR. Rhie will see me after she is done with the patient but did not show up, i guess she just wants me to leave asap. Later after adjusting my balance to $0, billing coordinator said, "It's done. I was first introduced to this office in 2015 on a free exam promotion. No complaints but I want…read moreready to switch from my existing dentist. Recently, I had a ten year old crown break. The dentist at the time who will remain nameless at this time made a new crown but gave me a referral for crown lengthening surgery which she felt I needed because she didn't have enough of my molar to work with. She also was thought I might need a root canal as well. I declined both procedures, had her put on the new crown which broke right away as my bite wasn't right. I went to visit Dr. Neu for a second opinion. He looked at my x-rays from the other dentist and examined the tooth and told me the crown lengthening surgery was unnecessary. He used a tool to blow air on the exposed tooth and since the pain did not linger and based on his xrays the nerve was not dead and he did not recommend a root canal either. He gave me the option to return to my dentist with this information or he could just create the new crown in office. I opted to just have the new crown completed. Everything about the procedure was completely opposite of the one my previous dentist did. He gave me two injections of novacaine in one spot versus her multiple pricks all over around the tooth. Where the old dentist's manner of giving the novacaine caused pain, I felt zero with Dr. Neu. I felt zero pain for the entire procedure which was much more involved as he had to use a solution to get my gums to back away from the base of the tooth and he prepared not only the top but the sides of my molar as well. My previous dentist was not able to keep my pain-fees during the drilling process. Dr. Neu had a great attention to detail when he created and fitted my crown which has now resulted in no pain when I bite down on it. (The previous crown that my dentist put on and I broke still caused pain when I chewed on it before I broke it). Your existing dentist might be ok for routine care but i have a high degree of confidence in Dr. Neu for anything that is more intensive and will be switching to him moving forward.

After many months of research I found Dr. Shapira's website. I was hesitant to make the appointment due to the distance I would have to drive and feeling hopeless, but after being astonished from watching all the testimonials on his website I thought it was worth a shot. At the first visit I could instantly tell he had superior knowledge about my issues than other doctors I met with previously. He was open and honest about my condition, the long treatment plan, and the high cost of care. Although this information was intimidating, I finally knew what the saying meant "health is wealth", life is not worth living in constant pain and discomfort. Therefore, I decided to proceed with his treatment plan. 1 year later I can honestly say that it has been the best money I have ever spent. I am about ~80% better and I will hopefully continue to improve over time. Not only is Dr. Shapira one of the best and most knowledgeable practitioners I have encountered, he treats you like family and is honestly one of the most interesting people I have ever met. I never leave his office without learning a fun new fact. He truly cares about his patients and work. You can tell he loves what he does. I can't recommend him enough if you have TMJ pain/issues.
