Alder Plumbing - 6/27/2020 - And here is the after he fixed it!

    Alder Plumbing

Let me start by saying I bought a mess...like you do when you buy a house that was built in the…read more50's. The previous owner was a carpenter, aka knew just enough to be dangerous. So, they did an add on and a whole bunch of plumbing which they did not vent properly or cut off correctly. So, there's an overflow that shouldn't exist and isn't a problem till it overflows but since there isn't proper venting, it does. I know its an issue and one I have been trying to get fixed since I bought the house in 2005. The problem is that the clog happens every year or so where is slow builds, the whole thing backs up and I need to get a pro in. The problem is that I was always at work when the other homeowner would have the plumber come out. So, I never got answers, an estimate or a person who did more than the bare minimum for some crazed price. I'm also a female so, being honest here...we really get the short end most of the time since its going to be a guy who is going to talk down to us, assume we know nothing and overcharge. And then come Monday night...it starts... And then Tuesday I did laundry which took the clog from a slight to a full bathtub. In addition, I genuinely have been meaning to get a plumber out anyway since another fun spot has been the trickle coming out of the kitchen sink. Zero water pressure which is another "issue" separate but, again, the other person would have the plumber fix yet no explanation or exploration of a permanent fix (of course not - since we have to keep calling you!). A friend was getting some general jobs done around her house and had a maintenance guy she was going to send my way but then he threw his back out and she found Juvenal. I also went onto the ole Facebook and asked friends to throw some names into the hat. Sure enough a lot were the big companies or were just douchey when I called. It really was between Juvenal and another company but when I called those guys on a Friday they scheduled me for Tuesday AND, get this...he'll message you when he is 20 minutes out yet NO SERVICE WINDOW! What?? So I am supposed to basically take the day off work, MAYBE? I called Juvenal who said between 9-10 am the next day (Saturday). He arrived right at 10am and from the moment he arrived I was impressed - he was super friendly and genuinely was listening and talking back and forth with me plus he had a some ideas from the start. He was so respectful and explained everything he was doing to me clearly. So, my father had his own remodeling business BUT I am not a plumber, in a pinch I know where to shut a valve off and if you explain to me the engineering of the issue I get it. He did and was amazing. Plus, I had two other issues I wanted to discuss getting pricing to have done (provided I had someone I could trust and work with) and also I was hoping to have him look at the kitchen water pressure. He brought it up himself and offered to repair it for me. His prices were amazing and he took his time to fix it not just correctly but clean. Everytime we would have a plumber out I knew because the drain was fine but I was cleaning the kitchen and bathroom. He did all of that! Plus explained to me why it keeps happening and how we can permanently fix it which is not nearly as drastic as I thought it would be. I cannot wait to get started on other projects with him to finally bring my plumbing up to being correct! I was amazed at his knowledge and willingness to not just explain what is happening but to do it so well. I have basic knowledge thanks to my dad BUT most people don't. He explained it so beautifully that I genuinely feel like if I was not an all knowledgeable I would have completely understood. And he was not talking down and anything of the like - it was a genuine conversation between two people which means so very much! I wish he did electrical too but I ill just have to settle for finding a plumber I intend to stay VERY loyal to. Oh and the kitchen sink trickle...its so weird to have legit water pressure again - I was so annoyed even thinking about calling around to get an appointment etc so I put it off forever! Its so weird to have such great pressure again AND he explained what was happening there to me as well! I just cannot say enough great stuff...he earned every word!

He took his time to plan out the work and put together a beautiful re-pipe job of a section of our house and helped us finally get a toilet flange that sits flat to our floor. But what I loved about this job, was him. Juvenal, thank you for sharing your cat photos and for being so kind and willing to help us. You treated us and our house with respect. We will be using Juvenal for any of our plumbing needs moving forward.

We selected ProFleet to repair our fence at our rental house. Since this is a rental house and we go through a property management company, we were not able to set foot on property while they were working. They tilted the fence back up in the one section that it was falling over, and other than that they did nothing. They left a big pile of trash for us to remove, and not to mention, THE GATE OF THE FENCE WONT EVEN SHUT NOW! I am so floored by the fact that we paid over $3000 to have two sections of a fence fixed, and because of the poor repair job, the fence now doesn't even shut. I really don't like giving small businesses poor ratings, but this was one of the worst jobs I have seen. ProFleet, you need to take better care of your customers.

update: Pro Plumb never filed permits for my job, as the city, as well as the minor label…read moredepartment have no record, and there is no permit minor label on the unit itself. Their negligence almost cost my family our lives. I will be filing a complaint with the CCB and the Better Business Bureau as well as the Oregon State Minor Label BCD. second update: pro plumb installed plastic concentric venting on a unit that requires metal concentric venting. They also cut the venting improperly. This is what caused the carbon monoxide. I had to have a second company come and completely redo their install, venting, gas lines, and replace the damaged unit which they installed. They still have not refunded me and continue to make up lies about me. ** installed a damaged unit, put my family at risk of carbon monoxide, left me without hot water for over a week ** They installed a rinnai tankless water heater less than six months ago. I repeatedly smelled gas and carbon monoxide and had issues with the water heater not putting out heat properly, and now it has started shaking violently. They said to call northwest natural. Northwest natural red tagged the unit for carbon monoxide leakage. 5 days later, Pro plumb came out to look at the unit, I was advised by pro plumb and by rinnai to contact a rinnai certified plumber to inspect the device. Jennifer told me the warranty would be long and that I would not have hot water, and that if i purchase another unit that they would install it for free. By now I have not had hot water for 6 days. The rinnai certified installer said that the gas line pro plumb was 1/2" instead of the required 3/4", the exhaust on the unit did not have an exhaust port, it only had an elbow which was causing carbon monoxide to enter the house. He also noticed that it was damaged and didn't look like a new unit. By now I have not had hot water for 8 days. When I contacted Jennifer at pro plumb she said the other plumber was just badmouthing them, and is very upset and angry with me that I would insinuate that there is a problem with their install, and insisted there was no damage on the hot water heater. When I asked her how the unit would be damaged on the rear of the unit facing the wall, she said she did not want to argue with me. She eventually hung up on me. I don't know when I will get hot water again, or when Pro Plumb will come out to fix the install.
