Sam came out 45 minutes early and found the problem with my LG washer extremely quickly. We had a hose leak internal on the unit and it caused corrosion leading to much bigger issues. He offered a reasonable quote considering the motor had malfunctioned and implied it might be best to get new as we discussed approaches. After the warranty suggestion he advised to look into it and I caught the tail end of a 10 year coverage on the part. My gas clothes dryer was making a thumping noise that sounded like gym shoes were in the drum drying, which they were not. Research online suggested a worn out roller wheel or drum belt. I called Accurate at 8 AM this morning, got a live person who said she would refer me to Carl and when he could address the problem. I heard back from Carl in about 10 minutes. I told him the problem and he said it sounded like what the internet described. He said he had a call near me and would squeeze me in between 9 and 11 AM. He got here about 10:10, checked the sound it was making and agreed it sounded like the rollers and drum belt. He had it fixed and running in 15 minutes. Amazing! He then explained to me what the issue was and walked me through how to fix it. Both times I have called Accurate Appliance we have gotten a callback from Carl Giacomino. This guy rocks! My husband and I are pretty much the least handy people on the planet! Our skill set stops abruptly at light bulbs! I called Carl last year because our gas stove would not ignite. Turns out some safety switch needed flipped. We paid a very minimal service call fee and were thrilled to not have an actual repair bill. Today I dug Carl's card out of my kitchen knife drawer because our dishwasher stopped working. It was making dishwasher sounds with NO WATER! Carl gave me a tip over the phone for the most likely cause of the issue, explained to me how to fix it (i.e. wipe the soup out from under your floater) and miraculously the machine started pumping water again! No charge! It's so refreshing getting help from someone that is legitimately interested in finding simple, inexpensive solutions. Carl showed up to my house 30 minutes after I called him. I have an older GE Profile Performance refrigerator that was leaking water when I tried to dispense water. I had tried to setup an appointment through GE repair which was going to charge 89 for the visit Plus and hourly rate plus materials, and they couldn't get to my house for a week. Finding Accurate Appliance on yelp I gave a ring. 30 minutes later Carl is at my condo and working on the issue. 30 minutes after that I have running water from my fridge and no leaks. He called back within minutes and after hearing what I was experiencing with my refrigerator, he made some troubleshooting suggestions. I was actually surprised that he was willing to share these suggestions instead of coming out right away and charging for a service call. He said that if his suggestions didnt work that he would come out and see what the problem was. The prices he quoted for the service and repair rates were very reasonable. Accurate Appliance Service were a recommendation through a handyman friend who also owns and maintains buildings throughout the city. They are terrific for any kind of appliance repairs. They've fixed two refrigerator (two different refrigerators), and my washer. They're pretty fast - in my case, it's usually been next day service. They've got a woman who takes the calls and then farms them out to the service men. They have always arrived before or at the time scheduled and they've always been able to solve the problem on the spot. I've dealt with two different service men: Ken & Carl - one's pretty friendly, the other's a little gruff (I've forgotten which is which). Prices seem reasonable, usually around $150 - but it really depends on what's broken, and the cost of the replacement. It's just really convenient to have go-to 'appliance' people. read more
