They've always been incredibly accommodating and after my first year with them, tax time no longer made me want to curl in the fetal position in the back of my closet. Beyond knowing I'm getting the best return possible...I've also constantly been impressed with how they embrace technology. From my first year, physically dropping off copies of receipts and w-2s to uploading scanned images to an FTP server, to investigations into online form submittable...theyre always looking for ways to improve the overall experience. Even payment can be done online. They always make time to answer questions...and to make sure the entire process is transparent so you know where you are in the process. It really couldn't be any easier.

As a newly self-employed professional, I realized the importance of having a tax expert on my side but was clueless as to how the process goes and how we would work together. Jason specializes in the self-employed such as myself and small businesses. He is not only handling the filing aspects for me throughout the year, but he offered to inform me about my IRA options to build a retirement fund, etc. After getting him the information he needed, he provided a guesstimate so I would know what to expect. I was surprised at his fee compared to all my years of filing for free with Turbo Tax, but he's going to save me so much more than I ever could have on my own, he will more than pay for his services with what I saved, and I might even see some considerable cash coming my way. All in all, I am really grateful that I don't have to worry about Uncle Sam anymore... and that is practically priceless : )

After moving to the Peninsula, I needed to find a new tax accountant since I didn't want to drive into the city. A friend recommended Totah Accounting. The office is rather inconspicuous and simple. If you drive too fast, you might miss it. Don't let this cover of the book fool you. The owner, Paul is very responsive and knowledgeable. In the case with my situation, I did not have a simple, straight deduction. There was no way I was able to do my taxes and risk getting audited by the IRS. Paul was able to navigate through all my documents and explain to me about the tax process. That was important to me b/c my prior tax person was not responsive and only called me when my taxes were complete. The receptionist who works the front office is great too. She was able to send me my previous documents encrypted via email. Totah Accounting is a "A+" business and gets my thumbs up! They may not be a big company like H&R Block, but I rather have the best service with a personal touch that Totah Accounting offers.

They're always busy during tax season and yet they prepare my taxes in a couple of days and electronically file them. For the level of service you receive, the rates are very competitive. Every year they mail you a tax preparation packet. You can either mail in, or drop off your tax information. They also prepare the quarterly estimates for the coming year, which I find very helpful. I knew our accountant personally before professionally, so I was a little concerned when he turned…read morethe corner for our first "meet and greet" and he had a beer in his hand. Not just any beer, but Stella and enough for all of us. My concerns were immediately alleviated when the meeting began because he was all business and surprisingly knowledgeable about tax laws. The process was as painless as taxes could be and we were happy with the outcome. The only problem we had was that it took so long for our taxes to get filed this is who will be bringing our returns this year: . - " " " , / ____ , \ { ______ }`{} ( / . . \ ) { ` -=^=- ` } { ` } { } `-,-` (This review was dedicated to our Ascii Art Accountant) Addendum: During our extension our accountant was able to exponentially increase our returns. I tried to convince him we should just keep extending our filing and increasing our returns. He informed me it doesn't work that way. Stupid Tax Laws.

So my boyfriend had this complicated tax problem, and since he is what I call "financeophobic," I…read moretold him I'd try to help him find someone to straighten it out. I read the review for Bogdan & Frasco and checked out their website and decided to give them a call. I ended up on the phone with Sande McGarry, who told me up front that she didn't think she was the right person for the job, but then she spent half an hour talking to me about my boyfriend's situation so she could give me what advice she could and refer me to someone else. She told me she'd call me back the following week, but I actually heard from her the next day and she referred me to someone outside her firm who was a perfect fit for his case both in terms of expertise and personality-wise. So while she didn't actually do any accounting work for me, I think the fact that she voluntarily took all that time to help me out shows that she: 1. really cares about helping people with their financial situations 2. is very knowledgeable, but also willing to say when she is not the right person for the job and 3. is just really cool and nice All of these are, I think, qualities that make for a good accountant.
