Melissa has been helping my family with our tax preparation for years. As my financial situation…read morebecame more complex and I can no longer trust myself with TurboTax, she expertly took over once I provided all my documents. She was able to reduce my liability. The e-filing process was simple and paying what I owe was a secure and seamless process. I plan to continue working with Melissa as she has been helpful with tax saving strategies as my life situation changes.

Welp. I'm updating my review because I wrote the review yesterday. She emailed me with the copy of…read morethe 2024 as I requested, but 12 hours after she said she sent it to me. (I checked my spam and mentioned that i will hadn't received it.) She was kind and considerate, until I said that I was at a wedding and couldn't respond. I am now pretty shaken about the exchange I had. You can judge for yourself if you want her for your CPA. I tried to delete my review, but I was met with an error message. To be clear, I never asked her for a refund for what I paid her for her services. I never said quoting a price was illegal. I'm not sure why she said that, honestly. I think people that receive a service should be paid in full, which I did. I wasn't trying to skirt out of any payment. I was going to edit my entire review. Instead, I'm trying to delete a review at almost 1 in the morning because of this exchange I received and it completely ruined my whole night and happy wedding/celebratory mood and replaced it with unnecessary stress because she wanted the review removed before 3am.

I feel bad leaving a bad review because Francis tries and he is a small business, but I feel others…read moreshould be warned about his limitations. Francis did our taxes the past two years. Francis does not file electronically because he does not want to pay the fee to be a tax preparer, so he requires you to drop off all forms in person at his house and will not accept anything electronically. Again because he doesn't pay for the tax preparer version of TurboTax, he has you log onto his computer to access all stock transactions from any third party software like Wealthfront or eTrade, which made us very uncomfortable and need to change all our passwords. Some reading this will know that above a certain income level the IRS requires you by law to file electronically. Surprisingly Francis did not know this and was annoyed and angry when I pointed it out, and I had to argue with him to get him to figure out a way to help us file electronically (I also offered to pay him for his time and find someone else if he didn't want to do it, which he didn't want), which was very awkward. He also had never heard of a backdoor Roth and initially gave us incorrect advice, which should have been a big enough red flag not to use him. The final straw was that this year, our taxes were rejected and we are still dealing with the IRS for a claim related to our social security tax exemption being filed incorrectly. Francis is nice enough and tries very hard, but his refusal to do things electronically and his inexperience with common tax issues outside a certain income bracket would make him a poor fit for many.

In addition to being great at what he does, Michael is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that I'm getting my full refund. I got married last year and he took the time to research the pros and cons of filing jointly or separately. So helpful! When I received a scary notice from the IRS that said I owed thousands of dollars, Michael was of course the first person I reached out to. Not only did he ease my concerns, but he was able to figure out where things had gone wrong (I used to do my own taxes) and how to fix it. I ended up having to pay just a tiny fraction of what the IRS originally thought I owed. In short, Michael is awesome and I would (and already do) recommend him to anyone in need of a great accountant!
