If only there were the ability to rate "minus" stars!
We (unfortunately) became customers of this company when they purchased the DESCO client list of the late Steve Desidier. They have consistently been inefficient, inaccurate, and impolite. And are getting frighteningly worse!
In the past, they filed an extension on our taxes, even when all the completed "planner" forms were submitted in a timely fashion. This resulted in tax refunds not being received until late summer!
This year, they lost our annual tax "planners" which contained last year's figures and other personal data. They said "they think" they were mailed to us. They were never received. Highly unlikely that BOTH, separately mailed envelopes, would be lost in the mail simultaneously. They even accused us of possibly moving and not giving them our correct address! (We've been at the same address, which they have on file, for nearly 2 decades.) Despite asking the whereabouts of these sensitive forms: via phone, via email, and face-to-face in the office with THREE different employees (including Mr. Massoni), we have STILL not been given ANY answer about what happened to our tax planners. Were they never even printed? Were they never mailed? Were they lost internally? Were they truly lost in the mail? And if lost, shouldn't THEY be providing some sort of identity theft protection here? OMG!
THEN...upon picking up our completed tax forms this year and reviewing them (already convinced I would not use this company ever again), I noticed that our tax liability was SUBSTANTIALLY ($2,500.00) higher than last year, despite no significant changes in income / deductions.
I returned the forms to their office, and spent about 30 minutes of having 2 different office staff look at last years figures repeatedly. One on them asked my last name and my spouse's last name SIX times. Her co-worker FINALLY told her to "just read his name badge!" You can imagine how annoyed I was, if even her co-worker was tired of hearing the name question over and over. Not to mention the fact that she was holding our completed 2011 forms right in front of her computer!
I was finally told to "come back later and they would look into it".
After insisting that I would wait, as Mr. Massoni was clearly sitting right there in his office with his door open, I marched into his office right behind his clerk. After inquiring about the huge tax liability discrepancy, yet AGAIN, he looked over the forms he completed (for a $500.00 fee mind you!) and just said "they're wrong". No "I'm sorry I made a mistake". No apology. Nothing.
Then we wait nearly a week before finally getting a call that the tax forms are corrected. So, down to the due-date wire, yet another trip back to their office to pick and sign the forms.
NOT SO MUCH AS AN APOLOGY, from ANYONE at the office, for the major error on their part, that would have caused us to overpay the federal government by nearly $2,500.00! Instead we were due a refund!
Steve Desdier must be turning over in his grave, bless his soul. A gentleman who came from a family of tax preparers, who understood customer service and possessed civilized social skills. read more
