When the commute began to wear on me, I tried a local salon with excellent reviews and received a terrible cut/color. With a future Tribeca appointment already booked, I stopped into Warwick's Soho Salon for a wash/blowdry. I was greeted so warmly by Joanne at the front desk and my hair looked so great just from a wash/dry, I canceled my city appointment and booked my cut at Soho. That was over a year ago and Soho Salon has impressed me with each visit. I see Caitlin for cut/color, Caitlin and Diana have both done wash/blowdry, and Talia's shampoo and scalp massage is excellent. Everyone at Soho is so consultative, friendly, and professional. Caitlin and Diana are true artists... I don't mean that as hyperbole, Caitlin is a fine artist and her eye for detail and color is superior. Diana's "day job" is doing hair for award-winning tv shows (she is very discreet but I believe she, too, has won awards for her work). Each appointment I'm impressed and inspired by the work I see other stylists doing -- all ages, all styles are represented in Soho's clientele. One thing I hate at salons is being pressured into buying product and I also hate when a stylist doesn't respect how I want to wear my hair and insists on adding waves, hairspray, etc. Soho stylists always ask how *I* would like to look/feel and what products I would like to use, while also being consultative and sharing their expertise. When I've been curious about a new product, they've offered to let me try it in my hair without pushing for a sale and - because the focus is on making sure I'm happy with how my hair looks/feels, when I ask for product advice I end up with someone that is right for my hair type and how I style my hair at home. Being part of the Warwick community, I also appreciate how much Sal (Soho's owner, who is as friendly and good-humored as the team) participates in town events.
