It's clean and well lit. The prices are much more reasonable than some of the fancier locations. We have no complaints about access, it's a key-code to get in, and everything feels very secure. Even better, when nature calls, the bathrooms are accessible and clean. If you live in this area and need a storage option, you really should give this place a try!

I understand making a dollar in business but what I don't understand is the greed behind making…read moremoney during this pandemic. I recently called and spoke to Mark about renting a unit. He advised the unit I was looking for may not be available but if I wanted to reserve the unit 6 weeks a way from when a unit may be available I could do so. Different than other self storage units who put a person on a list, Mark said I would need to reserve the unit by paying the full amount up front. When I asked if my card would be charged on the date 6 weeks away he said, no. My card would be charged when I provided my card information during that phone call. So I said, so you mean to say I'd be paying for something I have not yet received and be paying for it, for 6 weeks and he said, Yes. I was bothered by the fact that a company would be that greedy to take money from people during this pandemic time when things are busy which is why I gave it a 1 star rating. BAD BUSINESS AND GREEDY!

I parked the vehicle in a spot I believed would be convenient for the staff to quickly check the condition of the vehicle and I could pay and leave. 25 minutes later I was met by the General Manager Glenn who rudely chastised me for apparently blocking his parking lot. Had I known I would wait that period of time to complete the transaction I would have parked elsewhere. But since their parking lot is awkward and there isn't a clear direct posting to a drop off area I just parked my rented vehicle close to the building. I then had an awkward/nasty exchange with Glenn when processing my credit card. I then left and when driving home I realized why I waited so long. They are understaffed because Glenn is a jerk and no one wants to work for him. See, I work at a courier company and we have a lot of part-time workers who subsidize their income with other part-time work. We had two part-timers work for Glen and abruptly quit because he is a jerk. This is Peterborough Glen, we all talk.

Later as I was going in and out for an unrelated matter a different employee felt the need to instigate some more issues by commenting that I wasn't saying anything now that I'm outside. All I was asking you to do was move your trucks. Snide, rude, disrespectful employees that couldn't wait to gang up talking shit to one person.

I am not a demanding person who needs that much to keep me happy but this was the stand-out single…read moreworst customer service I have experienced on my 41 years on this fair planet: * This company damaged our irreplaceable century home doorway on the way out, in front of our eyes (when I took pictures, which is the only reason they sent us a claims cheque, but for a mere $150 after originally suggesting to agree to what I thought was a modest $300 over the phone) * we never got a firm answer on a date when our stuff would arrive - weeks after we moved cross-country, we got a call two days in advance from a different moving company we never heard of who claimed were in possession of our stuff and needed to deliver it on Christmas Eve (when we were not in town) The person swore at us and tried to lay a guilt trip on us, saying he would not be able to get home to his family for Christmas unless he could deliver our belongings * we eventually got a different date, which was then cancelled and rebooked to two different dates, depending on who we talked to (at this point, we were dealing with at least three different companies) The movers who eventually showed up with half our stuff were very professional but seemed like they had hardly heard of McWilliams and didn't seem to have much co-ordination with them (I had to let them know we had yet to pay for the move and that this was their only chance to get an in-person COD from us) * the other half of our belongings arrived a week later - part on the day promised (after two rebookings), and part a few days after that, unannounced with almost no time to prepare to be home * on the way out of the property, the moving truck snagged a power line on our property, knocked out power to our drinking water well, and would have electrocuted the driver (possibly to death) had my brother-in-law not screamed at him to stay in his vehicle until he could turn the power off and move the live wire off his truck In the end McWilliams rarely had a clue where our stuff was on any given day, who they had passed it off to, how they were dealing with us, what dates they were giving us (they often gave us dates that conflicted with ones we got before or after from the company actually moving our stuff) and almost never called back when they said they would. I waited to write this review until we had successfully received all our belongings and paid them for fear of more mishaps Good....effing..grief...
