One of the many stresses of moving home is relocating all of your stuff, right?…read more Wrong! The Small Removal Co. made the move really easy. They're BAR British Association of Removers) approved so you know already that they meet standards, but I was also pleased that their quote was considerably lower than another one I received. I called about three weeks before the move date. A member of staff come to my old home to provide a quote a couple of days later. He told me how it worked, explained their insurance pricing and called back the same day to tell me the price and that the letter was in the post already. My only niggle here was that he turned up late to the appointment and the quote didn't mention the £100 refundable deposit for packing materials. That extra money was a bit of a shock when I was asked to pay it 5 days before the move. Packing boxes (in two sizes) arrived 10 days before moving day. I did email them to ask for them so can't comment on how they typically do it. On the big move day two smaller vans arrived in place of a single large van. This was much better because of the access to my flat being quite tricky. The two removals men were great. They arrived at 8:15, loaded by 11:15 and we'd unpacked at the new home by about 1:30. The bigger pieces of furniture were taken apart and reassembled really quickly. Only difficult thing for me was not getting involved beyond making tea and coffee. I felt quite useless! I'd happily recommend them to people moving house.

If I could give zero stars I would. Damaged an item and took it away for repair. When I called to…read morecheck progress, I was told they had no knowledge of the item. No one admitted knowing anything about it. Useless manager with zero customer service skills and total lack of understanding. The company must have insurance and the matter should/could have been resolved quite simply. However, this never happened, so I'm left with an unusable piece of furniture. A sham company. Avoid like the plague.

Safestore is nationwide. When I moved my stuff had to go…read moreinto storage for a few months because the house was not completed. We found safestore. it was clean and dry and no-one bothered you going in and out once you had signed in. New stores continuingly opening everywhere. They provide clean, dry and secure rooms for any length of stay, from a 10 sq ft box right up to large storage rooms of the size of a double garage or even larger. They say they will beat any quote by 10%. I got 6 weeks free by paying 3 months up front. It isn't cheap but it is worth it. They do a student discount for holidays or moving residences. We often saw what seemed to be shop keepers or market traders moving stock in and out..discounted rates I believe. Safestore also offers van hire at preferential rates in partnership with Europcar in all the self storage centres throughout the UK.I can't comment on that as we hired privately. They also do packing such as removal boxes, bubble wrap, tape and more but it is very expensive..go online for it.. They also con you into an expensive padlock for your store..best buy own before signing up. If you don't know how much space you want let the Safestore quick estimator work it all out for you (online)...you can always change your mind. Don't worry if your estimate is wrong they will upsize or downsize on the day, you will only pay for the space you need. They promise to get you into the smallest space possible and save you money. Safestore is the UK's largest and Europe's second largest provider of self-storage solutions. With over ten years experience in the provision of self-storage solutions for a wide number of domestic and business customers. It loses a star because it says 24 hour access and the one we used did NOT open 24hrs although it was open quite late and early.

We've used Parish 4 times over the years and always been happy with them…read more Until something went a little wrong this time and they ran a mile. Unpacked a few boxes a little late to find some things broken and approached Parish as we took out the insurance. Quick as a flash we got a 'Without Prejudice' email from the owner saying that the insurance wasn't valid as we hadn't unpacked/reported it within 7 days. Who unpacks everything in the first week after moving? And the speed/manner at which he distanced them from helping in any way was at odds with the whole 'family values' approach they portray. Be careful, get your own insurance and don't rely on Parish to help you if anything goes amiss. The people doing the removals are always great - head office could take a few lessons from them in our opinion.
