I wanted to share my unpleasant experience with this office this morning. I had an amazing…read morechiropractor back in Seattle whom I often referred to as a "magician". The man is truly a gifted healer. He is also the one who warned me about chiropractors that require xrays for routine maintenance care. He explained that an experienced and well trained chiropractor is confident in his/her ability to treat patients without the use of unnecessary xrays. Having moved from Seattle, I asked around for chiropractor recommendations in the area and a friend told me about connected Chiropractic. I phoned them and asked specifically if they require xrays for new patients, the receptionist said they do not. I was told it's going to be a 1 hour orientation, even for moms with young toddlers. We arrived at the appointment this morning and once we were seated in the room one of the front desk employees brought some forms for me to sign. I told her that I will not be receiving any xrays today and will that still be okay, she tried to persuade me to change my mind. I firmly told her that I will not be doing any xrays and asked her if this was a requirement to be seen by the chiropractor. She said that the chiropractor will still see me. When the chiropractor finally came in, she proceeding to ask the basic questions about my health and past chiropractic care. I told her my X-ray concerns due to my health and how my doctor advises against unnecessary xrays and how my chiropractor back in Seattle did not recommend xrays for routine care, unless there was a recent accident and/or injury. I even brought up the fact that the founder of chiropractic care (whom they tell you about during the orientation) did not perform xrays, neither did the earlier practitioners. After a debate with the chiropractor, she told me that they will not see patients without initial xrays. I was frustrated at having wasted my morning and mislead about the new patient process by the office staff. So a word of caution to anyone who, like me, is trying to find an honest chiropractor who does not pressure patients into unnecessary medical procedures. Also, if you are trying to conceive or are pregnant, it's best to avoid this office, as they do not make exceptions, according to the chiropractor. This is such a disappointment as I heard great things about this practice and was excited about getting established with a local practice. Following the appointment, I contacted another local chiropractor and spoke to the chiropractor directly to find out that he does not recommend new patient xrays, unless there was a recent injury. There are other great chiropractors in the area who will not pressure patients into unnecessary procedures and treatments and please be weary of Connected Chiropractic.

So let's just be honest here, I hate going to the doctor. It's nothing personal against doctors,…read morethey're great people! I just hate the prospect of being probed, prodded, and stabbed with needles. However I work in the healthcare field and I have seen a lot of things that could have been avoided if people just would have gone to the doctor, so as a result I am a firm believer in yearly check ups. I am also a huge advocate for finding a doctor that you like and trust. Unfortunately due to changes in the healthcare system, doctors rarely have time to spend with their patients. There's always a demand for them to move quickly in between their patients to get to the next one. My husband started going to Dr Grace Tang several years ago and he is her number one fan.....if doctors can have fans..... . She recently moved to this practice and he spent months researching trying to figure out where she had gone. I was also in the search for a good primary care doctor, and when I saw how adamant my husband was about finding dr. Tang so he can continue going to her, I knew she had to be a fantastic dr. (My husband is super picky.) So I made an appointment for my yearly physical. Let's start with the front office staff, on the phone when setting up my appointment they were very professional, and answered all of my questions regarding insurance, billing, and my goals. Upon arrival they were just as professional, kind, and greeted me with a smile as I came in. Unlike most practices, I only had to fill out a couple pieces of paper. Dr. Tang's nurse was also very nice, and professional. She took my height, weight and blood pressure, reviewed a few questions with me, but left the majority of my history for the doctor to do, which is very unusual. Usually the nurse obtains all that information and if the doctor wants to know they have to read it. But that is one of the things that I really appreciated about this experience, the doctor sat & listened to my health history, and wrote her own notes. And then there was the infamous Dr Tang! She was gracious, classy, thoughtful, and actually cared about what I was saying. She sat down and took the time to listen and ask questions. So very unusual from the typical revolving door experience i'm use to. And last but not least came the most dreaded experience for me, lab work! Before we go any further you should be aware I'm a huge needle phobe. I hate needles with a passion.... needles bring about massive amounts of anxiety for me....truly it makes no sense, but that's how it is. Dr. Tang suggested that I stay in the examining room and lay down for the blood draw instead of going to the lab draw room. For me this was an excellent idea! And then in came Brittany. I'm not sure if Brittany was a phlebotomist or nurse who does lab work ( as a result, henceforth she shall be referred to as the blood sucker!) but either way she was amazing! She kept me calm and relaxed with her down home compassionate and sincere demeanor, and she's really good at what she does. I barely felt the needle go in and she worked quickly despite all of the blood that I needed drawn! When it was all said and done I told her she could draw my blood any day. BEST BLOOD SUCKER EVER! !!!!!!!! And believe you me people that's not something I ever say! From start to finish I had an excellent experience at this practice. I highly recommend it to anybody who's looking for a doctor (and staff) who want to take time with their patients and get to know them, and treats them like human beings, not like a herd of cattle they have to get from one location to the next as quickly as possible. Oh! I forgot to mention their patient web portal. I realize more places are turning to this, but I still have not seen it as often as I thought I would. However! They have a simple to navigate web portal where you can email the doctor with questions, see your lab results, and see the suggestions the doctor gives you regarding your lab results. And they do lab results fast! My husband had his results by the next day, with recommendations from the doctor attached.... I totally find this impressive

They don't check voicemail, they don't return calls, then finally after over a month, I received a call during Christmas week (waking me up on my first off day, but I was happy to run downstairs to get my insurance at first), and when she found out I was hoping for a Saturday appointment due to work, she was frustrated as, after a long hold, she couldn't reach the "girl who works Saturdays and hadn't given her the January hours yet". I have her name, but not posting here. I told her I was willing to wait (I mean, my shoulder may actually heal on it's own at this point and I'm definitely moving my orthopedic doc appt out since I've been unable to schedule) or I could call her directly and she became angry and hung up on me. Frustrating as I literally waited a month to even try to schedule as I was busy and had already done what I thought was my research so didn't want to start over researching other PT locations further away from where I live...but now, I am!
