I contacted Hartford Car and Driver for two BMW sedans to transport my bride and her mother to…read morechurch for my Farmington, CT wedding. On the first call the staff member was responsive, assuring of their quality and reliability of service for such an occasion, and prompt in providing a quote and booking the reservation. Two weeks before the wedding I called early AM to arrange a visit to view the cars in their fleet that would be used for my reservation. I explained I had a strong impression of their service level and fleet but wanted to leave nothing to chance for my wedding. In short, after multiple calls I received the run around all day about the availability of any of the fleet for viewing. I also discovered after specifically requesting two BMWs for my reservation it had been booked for one BMW and one Audi, which I asked to have corrected. After telling me they would correct the reservation and call me before close of business to arrange a viewing, which they did not, I placed one more call at 6pm. I was asked to come at 9am the next day to view the BMWs. At this point I began having reservations about the service quality and general reliability of this organization so while on the way to Hartford the next morning I called in advance to make sure they actually had the cars available I reserved (the BMWs) to view. The representative said they only had an Audi. After explaining again that I had requested two BMWs twice and not an Audi I was told the following, "We are a car service. I can't have our cars sitting around the garage all day for viewing. What I can do is cancel your reservation and wish you all the best in finding someone else." The rep. then hung up on me. Needless to say, Hartford Car and Driver fell completely short of living up to its claim of being a premier car service for business executives and special events. It was hardly unreasonable to ask to see the cars that would be used for my reservation given the importance of the occasion. With the lack of reliability and rudeness displayed in response to a very simple reservation inquiry I can only imagine what kind of service and car we would have actually received if I had not done due diligence. I prefer to write positive reviews on service providers, yet feel a sense of responsibility to report the facts when they fall short. After wasting a lot of time with HCD in a crucial planning period I hastily found another service that worked out great.
