For clothes you care about, make the drive to Lamoine and go to Sue Sewing or Acadia Sewing + Alterations. My first issue is that there is hardly any rhyme or reason to the pricing model at this place. They charged my male friend and I $60 and $50, respectively, for the EXACT same job (altering a dress uniform and sewing on patches). Then they charged a female friend of mine $85 for the exact same work. My second issue is that, when I came to pick up my articles, they had been mixed up with another person's clothes. Granted, the clothes that had been mixed up were two of the same uniform (Army dress uniform), but there had been no care taken to make sure the correct clothes were given to their respective owner. My jacket had been placed with another person's pants, and vice versa. My third issue is that an error had been made while altering my clothes, but this was not mentioned to me when I came to pick it up, I discovered it myself after I had taken my clothes home. So either they did not realize they had made such a huge mistake, or they made a big mistake and A) chose not to correct it and B) did not mention it to me. In addition to all of this, they lost a button on my uniform, which cost me $10 to replace. My fourth issue is that Andy gave me incorrect information over the phone about when to pick up my clothes. For context, I had dropped my clothes off on a Friday, and Andy told me they would be ready on Monday. Come Monday, I called Andy around 10:00AM to ask if my clothes were ready to be picked up, and he said they were ready. I then drove to the shop, but when I got there, Andy told me they would not be ready for 3 more hours. Overall poor service and poor quality.

I mentioned it to the proprietor and he said they had a couple of years left. I looked for the sweatshirt I liked w/ two loons and found one in black but the loons didn't show up. Since we don't know when we'll be back I decided to order one in a royal blue and he will send it to me. I wrote down my address, gave him my credit card and he figured out how to send it to me less expensively. The transaction was very easy and I have a treat to look forward to after we get home. This store and all other stores had none. He said he could order one that was fairly thick and they could embroider Maine on it - I said can you add the sail boat that was on other clothing - he said yes. So we proceeded processing it and I gave our mailing address. After I paid for it - all I had was a receipt and nothing about special ordering. When I got back to camp - I thought how stupid I was for not getting more in writing about ordering it and mailing it to me.     THIS IS AN UPDATE TO MY REVIEW 4th May 2023…read more I doubt you could get the worst service from gold star cleaners in old town, Maine than I received today. I dropped off my academic robes earlier in the week with a promise they would be ready today. Instead, when I called the outlet tonight, I was told there was no sign of them, and they did not know where they were. A bit of a worry, to say the least. So their poorly trained but delightfully polite member of staff called their manager, who told them he was going to call all the shops to try and find it. Luckily they did find it still at the depot shortly afterward. When. I spoke to the manager they were not prepared to do anything to help me. I was told that they could get it to the old town outlet by 6 pm, giving the impression this would be a massive problem for them and for them to be offering such an amazing service, I should really be thankful for this "compromise" (remember I been told it would be available first thing in the morning today) and he would not change his timing to held a distressed customer. By this time, I had already been at the shop for 40 minutes, and the manager suggested I simply wait another hour and 15 minutes until they could be bothered to drive the 15 minutes from Brewer to old town to fix their mistake was simply ludicrous. Talk about a lack of customer service. During our conversation, I offered several compromises to get my robes to me only to be told they, "We're not The post office or UPS," which is clearly true as they have things like tracking numbers and helpful employees to help customers find out about the service they have bought. I can only hope my robes are there tomorrow, but sadly I fear the worst. So here are my rankings Customer service 0 Helpfulness of management 0 Problem resolution 0 Concern 0 Courtesy of shop staff is very good, the management 0 Do not use, go anywhere else but Gold Star Dry cleaning Up date, when I wore my robes on Friday I have to say the quality of the cleaning was very poor (see photo) that stain looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all. They also lacked the fresh dry cleaned smell you except. This led me to propose a scenario of events. Thursday my items were misplaced" aka lost, and not cleaned. The delay involved the depot doing a rush job on them, effectively a quick press and race to the shop to save place and no dry cleaning, or cleaning at all for that matter. So I can now add to my scores: standard of cleaning, very poor. This led me to do more research on the company, all I can say is I wish I'd looked at their reviews on the Better Buisness Beureau as they seem to be reflective of the service than the 3.8 average they have here and in Yelp, where clearly they are using friends to get a higher review. What is us laughable is this quote from their website. " We take pride in being the best and we back it up 100%. If you're not 100% satisfied in any way we'll clean your garment again at no cost. If we can't make it right, I'll give you your money back! Quality, service and your complete satisfaction are our main goals." talk about misleading advertising. Not that I'm asking for my money back that bird has flow, as I'll never set foot in one of their hovels ever again. All I want to do is prevent any reader of this review from receiving the same horrific service & bad treatment, because as customers receiving this "service", we deserve better, and you can get that better service just about anywhere else.
