I took the puppy fundamentals class and it was very useful and reasonably priced. Nothing special. I wanted to follow up with some fun classes that they offered, per their website "barn hunt classes" and "nose work classes". The schedule isn't listed online, but to call or email for the schedule. I emailed the manager, Rebecca, asking for the schedule as well as a class description and details. I called two days after the email and the receptionist mentioned that the manager has been very busy, but took my name and number down so she could call me back. A week and a half later, and still no response. I called their main line and explained to Charlie (who answered the phone), that I understand that she may be busy, but if she could at least respond via email or call me back by today. I was looking forward to going to AOCB for more training, but if it takes this long just to figure out what the schedule is, no thank you! read more

I signed up for a beginning obedience series when I first got my dog. We went to one class. It was a horrible, dirty environment, puppies peeing everywhere - the 'trainer' did not address (I ended up grabbing a spray bottle and paper towels and cleaning up after other dogs). The entire 'class' consisted of the trainer reading a document (I presume most of the owners were capable of reading on their own). The rest of the class was a free for all - too many dogs, too many sizes. When puppies got too rowdy (as they will do in a large empty room with so much stimulus), the trainer aggressively charged at them with a spray bottle. No training or direction, just fear. Guess I should be grateful she didn't use a bat. Even though I had paid for a series of classes, I never went back. I'm not an experienced dog trainer but I do have a Master's in Education. There was no educating going on at this place - either for the dogs or the owners. read more

My family and I brought our very head strong miniature pincer puppy here for 4 weeks for basic obedience training as he is very stubborn and willful. Although when we got him back he could sit and lay down and stay, when we would command him to come, his tail would go between his legs and he would walk towards us slowly but then run the other way once he got close. As I mentioned he was a very headstrong puppy and not at all shy before so we can't help but wonder if they broke his will using negative reinforcement... which would explain his now fearful behavior. It makes me really sad to see this loss of confidence in him at such a vulnerable age. Would not recommend. read more

When we had our first dog, years and years ago we went here on the advice of our vet for puppy kindergarten and puppy classes, and it was great. However he was a great dog, so we really had no idea... After he passed away, we rescued two pups from a shelter and they were, uh, more difficult, to say the least. They were mistreated and were reluctant to trust anyone and they were very poorly trained and constantly "broke out" of yard and scared people. We needed much more than classes for these two and after trying other programs (barkbusters) we opted for the Board and Train program. It has been a life saver! Our aggressive dogs are now so trained. We use their boarding when we head out of town as well, and our dogs always seem healthy and happy upon our return! read more

My fiancé and I did a walk thru of this facility and consult for their 5 week board and train program for our two pups. We both felt the employees were very unorganized and we were very unimpressed with their disgusting kennels, just completely filthy--it looked like a low budget run down puppy mill. After our interaction with the staff and tour of the facility we decided against AOCB. At the prices this business charges for their training programs I expected to walk into an Apple Store like experience, not a Value Village. Not to say I don't frequent thrift stores, I love thrifting but I go into those businesses expecting them to be disheveled and priced accordingly. It was very clear that the care and concern they put fourth into there facility is greatly lacking. read more

Agree 100% with the previous two posts. This is a fabulous place to board your dog, and a wonderful training facility. Definitely worth the trip. Steer clear of their dog groomer, though. Our retriever had most of his leg & tail "feathering" whacked-off, as well as the whiskers on the left side of his face. I just took my 5 month old Carin Terrier here for a 5 week training camp and I have to say I am thrilled with how great he did. Ashley did an amazing job with my puppy. I cried like a huge baby every week when I went for my training lesson with him, but have to say I was so impressed with his progress that I was able to keep leaving him there. I was sad when he would just walk off with Ashley after our visits, but realized he was happy and loved. He came home finally Tuesday and he is so easy to deal with and such a great listener with just a few simple commands. My other dog is thrilled too that he doesn't bite and hang on her. He is a new dog and very well behaved1 Everyone in the office was super friendly and the love they showed all the dogs while training was impressive. Upon first glance I was impressed with this place. Trainer offered for one of my dogs to observe a group class because she is so overly shy we weren't sure if she'd participate in a group class. Once joined to the class, the methods did absolutely nothing for my dogs (despite consistent follow through at home) other than make them afraid to put on collars. I wasn't opposed to the prong collar training but the instructor insisted we weren't correcting firmly enough and suggested that we jerk it hard enough for our dog to yelp every time. I didn't think much of it since my dog seemingly forgot about it only seconds later but it caused issues at home of not wanting his neck touched, if avoiding collars at all costs, and although we didn't use the print collar on our shy dog, she recluses even more after seeing her "brother" yelp from corrections. I found that the courses didn't focus enough on attention training and out too much emphasis on the prong collar corrections. We did not return after the first course and not long after, video footage was leaked on fb of a lead trainer correcting a dog by hitting him with a baseball bat - just totally unnecessary and we will not be going back. It was a waste of money and our dogs back peddled rather than improved. read more

I have brought my dogs here for training, which has been wonderful and useful! I have boarded my dogs here with complete confidence that they are well cared for! And now we have adopted our wonderful rescue dog from them! The amazing trainers brought a dog with a very troubled history to there facility, rehabilitated him, and found him a home! They are wonderful! I can only speak to my own experience. The trainers at AOCB brought 2 dogs all the way from Arizona which had been rescued from the hell that was the Olympic Animal "Sanctuary". They rehabilitated them, one of whom was a very fearful, timid, feral dog who had spent a year and a half in a travel crate. They taught him to trust people, to learn how to be loved, then adopted him to us. He went from being terrified of humans to the sweet angel the everyone wants to steal. My sweet dog and I are forever in their debt. read more

Wow. Private lessons are amazing here. 2 months ago, I would describe my dog to people, as a biter. After one month, with 4 private lessons, I would describe my dog as an amazing dog with so much potential. I was trained and so was my dog. Our first two sessions were with Shayla, and our second two were with Andy. They are both amazing! My dog was a crazy rescue dog, but I've learned now that she just needed the right kind of direction. With out the proper direction, she would become overwhelmed and/or scared, and that is when she would lash out and nip people, dogs, or myself. Now, it isn't even a thought. There was no extreme disciplining that happened here. When we brought her in, we had owned her for 5 years and she couldn't even walk on a leash. This is after trying for years on our own, and with another trainer years ago. With in the first session she learned how to walk, loose leash, in line with me. I had to reiterate this everyday on walks, but since that first session, she doesn't pull or zigzag anymore. She has learned about 6 more commands/ life skills, and Andy has set us up with future things to practice, that can be applied to the rest of our lives together. We are moving away, and won't be able to come back , but I feel confident that we are set for life. Andy also said feel free to call if we ever need to discus any new situations or behaviors that we may need help with. If we do need to board her ever, I will drive the three hours back to board her here and allow them the time to work with her full time. Again, great place, great trainers!! This review is for the Puppy Headstart class. We are two weeks into our class and I am very pleased. I appreciate the fact that our trainer set reasonable expectations for those of us with young puppies. I also appreciate that she lets the needs of the class/puppies drive some of what we discuss with each class. The place is clean and the staff very knowledgeable. I plan on taking our Boston Terrier through several classes as I think the activity is good for her. I would also consider boarding her if/when we don't have family available. They provide good information both during the class as well as reading materials. We've also had some visits from older dogs (I believe he was the owner's dog) to show some of the great training. We've owned German Sherpherds in the past and I was very impressed with how well the dog behaved. I would definitely recommend them. read more

Way far out of the way, but I am willing to battle traffic up to Bothell (not just for a day, but for a lifetime) to make sure my dog is well treated when he boards. He is always happy to be boarded there, gets a room mate, his normal food and lots of love. I call daily to check on him and get a full report. He's not fixed (he'll argue, he's not broken) and he always seems to find a roommate! Great obedience training there as well. I have boarded our dogs here twice and have had a so-so opinion of the place and staff.

In 2002, I was a first time Dog Parent to a wonderful red doberman named Caesar. I had no experience with dog training and I would talk to him like he was a human using too many big words, and not enough consistency. At 9 mos. old he was full of energy, jumping all over the furniture, and getting on my nerves bigtime. I took him there for the 1 month live in board and training program (cost like either $1000 or $1500 - I don't remember). I was nervous about leaving him for those first 2 weeks when you can't visit as they lay down the foundation. At the end of 2 weeks when I visited he did a down stay where they sprinkled cookies all over the floor and told him to leave it and he did! I studied their training materials and followed through on the strong foundation they gave him. Best money spent EVER. Enjoyed him so much more and didn't get irritated, because I had been trained how to be a better Dog Parent. Caesar also enjoyed boarding there when I had to travel. I attended evening training classes there with my Standard poodle in 2014 - same great results. 2021 now and living out of state and started researching them again to try and refresh myself on training knowledge as I am getting my 2nd Standard poodle in 2 months and want to instill same training techniques I learned there. If I lived in the area, I would go there for a 3rd time! read more

We've followed up with a few free trainings (us/dog/trainer) and they keep taking our calls and training us/dog with maximum professionalism. We've boarded on a few occasions, too, and he always comes home happy and well-groomed. They even use him around the other dogs/owners to show them what they should aspire to. It's sad to see those dogs with such low self-esteem. If they could use their people words, I bet they would ask for the 5-week program and a few boardings! read more

[I am just writing this review hoping there there won't be another victim from their training program. I don't have bad intentions for AOCB. I just want all dogs the best. It is also my fault that I did not have enough knowledge about dogs, which is why I decided to go with their board and train program. I would never send my future dogs here. I really hope you guys read this throughly and stay away for their training programs. ] 1) Their training style is certainly not for every dogs. You can't expect a dog to come back as a different dog after sending away to somewhere for weeks. There are different personalities for dogs and this program might make your dogs worse. 2) I initially was concerned about his unpredictable aggressive reaction coming from the fear of new people. He is a very very nice and warm hearted dog, when he decided to trust people and walking him is easy most of the times. It was just that random times where he decided to bite someone out of no where. 3) Unfortunately, I realized my dog became even more sensitive and unpredictable after he came back. I think sending him to a new environment where they use choke collar was really a bad choice for his personality. This way, the dogs would learn orders (sit, down, ...etc) but they wouldn't know why they need to do it, since they are just threatened with CHOKE COLLARS. 4) After I realized the issue, I called for several follow-up visits but that did not work. My dog acted differently in front of the trainers, because he has an experience of choke collar training with them. The trainers here told me to "pull the choke collar harder and HARDER until the dog obeys or stops barking." ***It is the trainers jobs to educate the owner in a right way so both dog and the owner gets better. However, pulling the choke collar harder and firmer and repeating the same order over and over again was what they taught me.*** 5) I asked for a refund and as soon as I initiated this, they became UNRESPONSIVE. I called every few days for months, but apparently their manager and owner was always out of town and not available. The front desk did not connect me to them nor the manager/owner responded my emails. 6) When I contacted BBB, just because they were unresponsive, they finally responded and said it is usually the owner's fault for dogs problematic behaviors. It is true. But I never got educated for how I need to act. I gave up after months of contacting them. [[After a few years, now I am thinking that the AOCB was not really capable of doing that. They simply also did not know how to fix the problem.]] At least, they knew that my dog is a lovely dog when he was not showing that seldom aggressiveness out of fear. 7) I took him to another trainer abroad, who was really famous in that country, while I was spending my summer there. The trainer in that facility told me that my dog's problem never should have been approached by punishing with choking collars. He told me there must be a reason why he is acting a specific way and there needs to be a different approach to figure out the fundamental problem. [**In fact, CHOKE COLLAR IS NOT FOR MOST OF DOGS**] 8) Finally, I had to re-home him through AOCB after couple years, since that is one thing this facility promised me after all this happening. I did have bad experience with their training program but apparently their adoption system is well set. I cannot describe everything here but my conclusion was that my dog was going to be better off with other permanent family, after a long thought. *******My dog was brought back for the best after a few days after his first family, because he needed a person with more experience with dogs. The first family contacted me and I was very grateful and relieved. However, I was told that the family "never got my long letter written by me(that the manager told me it is better to give) and was told by the manager that they should not contact me, since I will try to take the dog back away" so they hesitated. WOW. Just speechless.....******* ----Anyways, I got an update that my lovely dog was adopted again by a nice owner and I hope and believe he is happy. This was couple years ago. That was the last update I got. They probably decided to not tell the new owner my contact information this time. I reached out to them again for any updates, UNRESPONSIVE.. I still love, miss and hope for the best for my dog. My heart still aches when I think of him. Sending my dog here was a big decision for me and that was the only time that I had financial and time availability. If I had chosen a different and better trainer, he probably could've been still with me now, who knows.. AOCB has a poor customer service and has a lack of knowledge. Their approach is old school and abusive. They act differently behind you and will choose which emails to ignore and which emails to answer. They must acknowledge what they do is important and really affects people's lives. read more

We did the 5-week board and train for our dog this past winter. So happy we did! Our dog is a 2-year old pitbull rescue (passed off as a "1-year old lab mix" by the rescue agency since she has just enough lab to look like one in the photo). She came with some very serious dog aggression issues. This is a dog that would have been put down and has attacked or attempted to attack other dogs despite our best efforts on our own when we got her (yes, we read books about being pack leaders and watched hours of training videos, took her for lots of exercise, invested tons of time training, etc.). The trainers and staff at Academy of Canine Behavior were amazing!! They fell in love with our sweet dog just like we did. Every time we drop her off for a weekend of boarding while we go camping, they remember her and are happy to see her. The trainers taught us how to cope with her aggression issues. She is still aggressive and they explained that she will probably always be this way due to her background as a stray/rescue. They taught her commands to help us keep her attention on us instead of the other dogs we encounter and they gave us tools to manage her behavior. We now walk her with a muzzle to keep other dogs (and us) safe, and we use vinegar/water to spray her when she growls at other dogs. I'm so disappointed by the many recent reviews targeting this great organization because of one trainer in the past who did abuse an animal and teach it through fear. The owners do not condone that abuse. The trainers I have seen do use corrections for aggressive dogs (like mine) and they use far more positive conditioning to reward desired behaviors. I have gone back for many personal training sessions since our 5-week program and I am so happy that we are able to keep our beautiful and super sweet dog (sweet to people, that is!) because of their help. read more

This place saved my dog (German Shepherd). We had tried everything in the area and he was still too agro. He's still an alpha dog but now my wife and I are the alpha of the family. He is now CGC certified and just plain awesome. Power breeds can be difficult and these guys can teach you how to interact and be there for your pup so you can be the pack leader. I can no longer recommend Bothell Academy of Canine Behavior for boarding my pets. I recently went on the trip while I left my dog with Bothell Academy for 10 days. Yesterday when I brought my dog home he was lethargic, coughing and had diarrhea. Today I brought him to my vet where he was diagnosed with Kennel Cough. When I brought this to the attention of the management of the kennel they tried to brush it off and say there was nothing they saw. I realize my dog can catch germs from a kennel just the same as a child will at day care, but for them to not tell me and not acknowledge that my dog got the disease there is what disturbs me the most. I used to be a customer of Bothell Academy of Canine Behavior but no more. I'm posting this so you can make an informed decision about your boarding choices. read more

I will never know what happened there the two weeks he was there, but I know I will never return and I will not ever recommend this business. ***** I have a 6 month old Olde English Bulldog and I chose to sign him up for the 2 week board and train. My family and I were going out of town for a week and I was looking to board him and an extra week plus training seemed like a great option. The evaluation was basic and strait forward. They asked what problems I am having, if any and what my goals are for him to achieve. Went over the basics of what he was to learn when and if I chose to sign him up. Leaving my new puppy that I am absolutely obsessed with for 2 weeks was the hardest thing I have had to do. It helped being out of town, but when we came home it was terrible. I was counting down the days until I could go pick him up. His primary trainer, Kailey was wonderful. She put up with me calling almost every day to check on him and gave me mini reports on his progress and well being. She also text me picture messages of him! read more

I adopted my dog Hobbes, a border collie/german mix about a year ago and at that point he had already been in two other homes. This should have been a signal to me that he probably wasn't the easiest dog but he was so darn cute! After we took Hobbes home, we learned that he suffered from a lack of confidence and unfortunately it manifested itself as aggression towards us. I did a tremendous amount of research on fear displacing dogs and how to work with them, hired 2 personal dog trainers to assess his temperament but it was not getting better. After about 5 months, I had his dog walker (who he loved) tell me that he was getting mouthy and started to bite her. She eventually quit on us because she didn't know how to work with him. After our dog walker quit, things escalated quickly with Hobbes attacking my fiance when he was trying to get the remote control out of his mouth. Hobbes bite down hard and left two permanent scars. Had he bit any harder, we would have needed to go to the hospital for stitches. My final resort was taking Hobbes to AOCB where we tried their board and train program. Their program saved Hobbes' life. We first met with Colleen, the owner, and she provided a free assessment as advertised on the website. We briefed on all of the events that led us to this point and she suggested that he stay for an extended review, since she wanted to ensure that he would be a good fit. They paired Hobbes with one of their trainers. After a week, she called and said she would be willing to work with him in their board & train. Hobbes stayed with them for 3 full weeks and came back a different dog. When he left us, we were extremely cautious of any outdoor activities that had dogs or people around. She helped train him (and us!) on how to manage his fear and anxiety. She also worked on getting his confidence up, which only made him love her (and the academy). It has been 4 months since Hobbes finished his program and people marvel at how controlled and well mannered he is now. I bring him to work and he is able to maintain a down-stay for a full hour, while other dogs are jumping around causing a ruckus. While he still has moments on misbehaving, we are way more in control of our dog, which makes for a happy dog and family. We've had Hobbes stay with AOCB while we've gone on two vacations and both times he practically bounded away from me, excited to see the staff. He came back healthy and happy! I would highly recommend AOCB to anyone with a difficult dog. read more

We boarded our 13 lb dachshund Rosie there during Christmas vacation. I went to pick her up and found her ear bleeding profusely. They told me 2 different stories as to when and how it happened. We had wanted her put by herself but they said she would be happier with a "buddy", another dachshund. We reluctantly agreed to have her with that one dog only. Apparently they put her with another aggressive dog that chased her and injured her. They said they crated the aggressive dog. One story was it happened the night before, the other story was no one saw it and it must have happened during the night. I took her straight to her vet, her ear was bitten all the way through. I wrote the owners a note and attached the vet bill. I wanted to know why their staff had gone against what we agreed on and asked them to cover the vet bill. I never heard back from them. I called the office and asked if they had received my note and was told they had. It appeared that the owners did not care about us or our dog. We found this business to be unreliable and untrustworthy.We will never take an animal there again. I read more

I can not say enough good things about this place! They are amazing. We adopted a shelter dog named Charlie and he had some pretty major behavioral issues and ended up biting me (very possessive over toys and food) We were at wits end on what to do and did not want to have to put him down. We decided to give the academy a try and went to the free behavior evolution. There we met with the owner and she gave us some pretty good advice. We then enrolled Charlie in the intensive training program and he has been amazing. They not only taught Charlie they also taught us ways to deal with dog behavioral problems. They were extremely helpful and gave it there all and really went above and beyond. Honestly if it wasn't for them we would have had to give Charlie back to the shelter where he most likely would have been put down. This place is hands down amazing and the staff are highly skilled. I highly recommend there services to anyone!!! We have a trusted place for boarding now and lifelong training if needed for our dog. They really care and are run fantastically. read more

Our dogs have been clients of the Academy for about 20 years. I have always been very happy with their care of my fur babies. We've mostly used their boarding facilities but have also taken classes. Most recently we boarded our dog while we flew out of state. He got sick and since he had a run in with cancer last year instead of possibly briefly monitoring him, they got him right to our vet where he stayed for a few days while they thoroughly tested him. We came home to our healthy, happy boy at the Academy. I am so very grateful for their proactive care and treatment of our little boy. read more

They are just okay. Effective training. It is good for some people, but I wouldn't leave my dog there over night. Just take their classes and leave your dog at a friend or family's house. Also, their front office manager is the most abrasive snide woman I have ever met. Not a good face for the company. I brought my dog here a couple of years ago for a nail trim and had a really bad experience. He had a really hard time getting his nails cut and so I was trying to find a place that would work with him. He didn't like it and needed to be muzzled to get it done. I told them this ahead of time and usually any where I would bring him to have this done I would help by holding him and comforting him while someone trimmed his nails. Well the first red flag was they said they had to take him to the back to do it and I wasn't aloud back there. Then when they brought him back to me he had a large gash on his face and they said that he had accidentally hit his face of the wall, I'm assuming on the hook they use to hook the short leash to. The whole experience just didn't sit right with me and god only knows what happened back there! My guess is "he wasn't behaving" and they slammed him into the wall! I was so upset and angry, and left there crying. I had taken my dog to many other places that treated him with respect and love and took the extra time to make him feel comfortable. This isn't rocket science, there are a lot of dogs who don't like there nails cut and just need someone who has some compassion and patience. This place was terrible and they were so just nonchalant about the whole thing, just handed him back to me and took my money! No compassion whatsoever! read more

I am very impressed with the trainers at Academy of Canine Behavior. My sassy little rough collie met her match with their trainer, Chaya in both Beginning and Advanced Obedience class. She understands how a dog thinks and then proceeds to outsmart them every time. She not only understands the canine mind in general, but is very aware of the difference in breeds as far as learning, and training goes. She understood from the start, the difficulty in dealing with a very sassy, but very sensitive collie. She worked miracles with my pup, and taught me how to do the same. I have nothing but praise for their trainers. I have never boarded my dog there, but I have heard very nice things not only about their boarding, but also their doggy day care. Up until last week, also would have given AOCB an A+ as far as groomers. I've had my rough collie groomed there many times by 2 different groomers, who did an excellent job of both grooming and making it a pleasant experience for my dog. She always came away silky smooth, expertly groomed, mat free and happy. Since they had hired two excellent groomers in the past, I saw no reason to expect anything different from their new groomer. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case! My collie came back with her hind quarters completely sheered like a sheep, and the"ruffles" on her front legs were chopped unevenly, as was her ruff. I guess I should be thankful that she still had a couple of mats behind her ears, because those too could have ended up on "the cutting room floor". I was given a full refund, but only after I demanded it from the groomer. Unfortunately it will take 6 months or more for her coat to look decent again. I am also disappointed that after being a faithful customer for a number of years, there was no explanation or apology from the owners. Bottom line: the training is excellent and I give it an A+, the grooming is horrible and I would give it a solid F. read more

We have an Alaskan Malamute whom we recently boarded at Academy of Canine Behavior. Have boarded him there before with no apparent issue but given the experience we just had..i wonder Long story short they mis fed our dog and did not walk,him for the 5 days. The staff member who returned our dog on pur arrival state's don't like your dog". Manager offered poor excuses..for not feed,g despite our explicit instructions and for not calling us to report problem.in fact we called them and they Lied and said how well he was doing. over time i have had 4 dogs at academy of canine behavior, with huge success. I have used the trainers, classes, boarding and individual consulting. I feel they listen, determine exactly what i need then they help me find it. I would say they are interested in helping even when it means no money to them. SHAH was a recent visitor from the maltese association rescue with major problems. He is a work in progress---they listened to shah's issues and helped me work to solve them. In home training was the best suggestion, they helped me find a trainer (she was great) outside of their services. They had helpful suggestions and I feel that shah benefited greatly from their recommendations. I saw the news but honestly after my many experiences I have nothing but good to say about the academy of canine behavior. read more

I left my dog here for board and train quite a few years ago. Every time I called to ask how his training was going, different people told me "she's doing really well" or "she's doing great"... I couldn't figure out how everyone I spoke with failed to notice the big penis on my short-haired dog! That was odd but... whatever. When I returned from vacation a trainer brought me to their training facility to demonstrate what they had taught "her." My dog did not obey a single command delivered. They tried sit, down, stay, recall, leash walking... nothing. He basically flipped them the bird and then peed on a chair. If I hadn't just forked over all that cash I would have found it funny. (I guess, years later, I do.) I took this same dog to lessons with Katie Morrell and he was wonderful. A quick learner, eager to please! Of all my own dogs and my foster dogs, this was the smartest and easiest to train. I still wonder how they could have had him for two weeks without successfully training him at a single thing. Since they also didn't know his gender, my suspicion is that they never actually worked with him. But that's just a guess. Whatever the reason, these professionals failed at something that I, an amateur, found quite easy. read more

We boarded our Alaskan malamute at the Academy of Canine Behavior in Bothell for six days over the holidays. We provided all of his meals and treats. When we returned we discovered that he had been neglected by their staff. He is a high energy dog and needs to be walked or run every day, a service for which we paid extra. He was never walked. Also, they did not follow our written instructions on feeding our dog the food that we provided. After we returned we were told that the staff was afraid of him, although when we called in to see how he was doing during our vacation we were told that everything was fine. It was only after we got back and started asking questions did we find out the truth. We will not go back. read more

My vet referred me to AOCB, and we made the full switch to them about 6 months ago. My initial visit was for their complimentary one-hour behavior evaluation for our 110lb rescued Lab we had recently acquired. Based upon that excellent interaction, we decided to use them for boarding as well - and have been pleasantly surprised. Very much worth the extra drive. In addition, they train rescued animals so that they are more adoptable, and provide lifetime support after they are adopted - and we very much prefer to support a business that helps rescue animals and gives back to the community. They are a night and day difference from our previous boarding facility, and I feel much better about the quality of care - for the same price - our dogs receive. read more

We had high hopes after this place was recommended but were unfortunately disappointed. Other puppy classes I've attended with my other pup were well organized, small and clean with puppy play before and after class to help them focus for the training parts. No such thing here- the facilities were dirty and smelled disgusting beyond the normal doggy smell and into overwhelming dog poop smell, the hour long class had puppy play only at the end of the class, vaccination records were checked after class, not before (this made me nervous; I've never gone somewhere for puppies be it class or play times where they didn't ask at the beginning and turn you away if the puppy wasn't vaccinated) and the instructor seemed unfocused and unprofessional- at one point she recommended a raw diet which is a whole 'nother thing. This training facility also does use negative reinforcement, not just positive. Had I known, I never would've signed up for services. All in all we were very disappointed and knew we wouldn't be returning within a half hour of the first class. On a good note the manager I spoke with was very sweet and professional; we were refunded 50% of the class cost which was a resolution we were satisfied with. Overall I can't recommend this place. I hope their other services are better than the Puppy Headstart class we took! If you are looking for a good training spot that offers playtime and puppy classes I highly recommend Four Paw Sports Center as a very clean, positive and professional alternative. read more
