A short walk to ASU campus, the hotel is positioned well for business and sports. Let break this hotel down: Pros: 1. Easy, friendly check in and out. 2. Amazing pool! 3. The food was really good. We had teriyaki chicken on fried rice, hummus plate, and hamburgers. Yet, the best was just the simple Caesar salad. 4. Lots of walking paths including riverside. Cons: 1. The room is not for designed for a long term stay. No real desk to speak of and little space to hang or store clothes. 2. The breakfast was okay ... variety. Yet, it has only seven tables. Twice in 4 days I had no where to sit in the restaurant and ended up in the bar. 3. One restaurant within walking distance. Everything else is a hike or an Uber ride to get to. 4. A 16.9 oz bottle of water costs $5.

Clean, updated and decent location. A decent full bar and good service. Ample seating space to chill out with a book or with friends. $18 parking for guests a night- drawback is the parking garage is across the street. However there is temporary parking in front of the entrance to load/ unload your vehicle and check in before you need to trek back out and park. The rooftop pool is a great feature... only draw back was lack of signage letting you know the towels are located inside versus as the poolside. Good location - close to bustling downtown Tempe but away from the crowds allowing for a bit more solitude. Will stay there again.

Came to Phoenix for a worktrip and stayed here for 3 days. The room was very nice and clean. Bathroom toilet seat was a weird square shape that wasn't super comfortable. The shower had a normal shower head and a ceiling one which was nice. There was a gym and a pool outside on the top the top floor but I didn't have time to check it out. The breakfast was a $20 tapas style breakfast buffet was limited food options. There were fresh cheese, deli meats, and small egg bites. It was definitely overpriced for what you get. Overall it was a good stay and very close to the ASU campus/downtown phoenix.

I had an amazing time during my most recent visit here. I've been to many hotels for business and pleasure with my partner, but the personnel at the AC Hotel by Marriott Phoenix Tempe/Downtown went above and beyond to make our particular stay one we won't soon forget. I spoke with Cedric, the manager of the front office. In order to organize an engagement proposal on the day of the reservation, I contacted this hotel in advance. Cedric was a calm, collected individual who genuinely understood my predicament. In addition to making sure I was taken care of, he offered to upgrade my accommodation as a congratulations. Being a Marriott Bonvoy member I genuinely felt appreciated. Cedric and his team made the effort to ensure that I was comfortable and satisfied with everything. They offered my newly fiancé and I some drinks and provided me with a fantastic view of the hotel room. Our expectations were fully satisfied, and our accommodation was quite cozy. It contains everything you need in the room. A safe, an iron and board, a refrigerator, and a hair dryer. They also have an indoor fitness facility and rooftop pool for visitors, although we didn't get to use them. You can park in any space in the parking garage next door for $18 per night. At the time of the visit, there were many of spots available; just be sure to leave all valuables and possessions outside for protection. All in all, if you're ever in the Tempe region, I highly recommend checking out this site. There are lots of things to see and do in the area, and staying at a hotel with happy employees only adds to the enjoyment of your trip.

This was my first stay and last at this hotel. The employees aren't friendly, when I checked in new years eve the man who checked me in was rude and talked to me like I was dumb because I didn't hear that he requested my ID and credit card. He didn't tell me any information about the breakfast I purchased, wifi, anything he gave me my keys and told me where to park. I get to my $300 a night suite its filthy white stains on the curtains, pubic hair on my wash cloth, dirt and soap scum on the shower, food crumbs on the floor, the air vent covered in dust bunnies and no where to put my or my husband's clothes. No drawers just a micro "closet" with 4 hangers so we had to live out of our suitcases for two days. Parking was a joke, you're forced to pay for it but every time I left the tag I was given by the desk didn't work due to "an update of their system," so I had to call customer service every single time I left to let me out. I've stayed at numerous marriott hotels including Residence Inn where people actually live. Those were cleaner and in better condition then this hotel. Definitely not worth $300 a night. Especially since you can hear everything, people above you,the light rail, cars, etc. I am very disappointed,I wouldn't really recommend this place unless you don't mind everything mentioned above. I emailed Carlos who is supposedly a manager, but he couldn't be bothered to email me back.

Clean and very organized. The hotel was extremely quiet which is good in my book! The pool was cleaned and not with a strong smell of chlorine. Staff were pleasant. Rooms were well cleaned and organized. Just a nice causal atmosphere.

We had stayed at a AC Hotel in NYC and had good experience. This time we picked the AC Phoenix due to the super close proximity of the starting line of the Rock N Roll Run. We literally just walk a block over! Being Marriott members we had the choice of $10/day person for food. We decided to save them for all the snacks by the front desk. They also have a microwave at the snack area which worked out perfect because we had leftovers from another meal. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. I actually had to catch up on work and no problem with the wifi or the work space area. We did have a car rental for the weekend, and I think the only con was how far the parking lot is. It's a structure across the way from the hotel. They do provide coffee in the morning and lavender pack at night at the lobby.

We stayed here for two nights and were able to get one of the better upgrades as Platinum members. We got a corner suite with a balcony so we had a nice view of the butte across the street. When the sun was not on the balcony it was a nice place to hang out in the evening. The room itself was spacious and nicely laid out. We liked that you could walk into downtown Tempe and to many restaurants and bars. Very handy. The riverwalk just a block away. Bottom line a great location. The pool on the roof was very nice though there is not much shade. The parking was convenient in the next door garage but of course it was not cheap. The front desk crew as helpful and friendly. One minor downside was there was no laundry - guess we are not the target client for this location. Also the rooms could use better sound insulation especially being on the landing path for the nearby airport. I would stay here again.

This is a long overdue review for this amazing hotel…read more I've visited Tempe to attend the Innings Festival three times now. Each time staying at a different Marriott property: Aloft the first time, Westin the second time, and at this Residence Inn during my last visit. And I have to stay, this was probably my best stay. Location wise, this property is a couple of blocks away from the Westin. But still within walking distance to the Innings festival site. The nightly rate to stay at this property was also much lower in comparison to Westin and/or Aloft (at the time of booking). And being a Residence Inn, obviously breakfast is included in the rate. Anyway, the check in process during my stay was quick, and the staff was super friendly and hospitable. Actually, all the staff encounters I'd had during my stay were super pleasant. From offering me a bottle of water when I had purchased a pack of ibuprofen to just a simple hello and a smile as we're walking by the front desk. I don't think I've ever stayed at any Marriott property where the staff is just overall pleasant! During check in, I found out that my room had been upgraded. I had originally booked a room with two queen beds but got upgraded to a two bedrooms suite with a personal bathroom in each bedroom. The hotel room also had a little common area and a kitchenette. Awesome! The noise level at this hotel was pretty much on par with every other hotel I'd stayed in so I'm not complaining about that. I thought my bed was comfortable and I always had a good night sleep during my stay here. Breakfast foods are pretty much what you'd get at any other Residence Inn. You get your eggs, sausages, potatoes, juices, waffles, etc. And although the hotel was sold out during my stay (or so I was told), the line for breakfast never got too long. And although I didn't drive here, there's a parking garage (I think public parking garage) attached to the hotel and I believe it was only around $15/night to park there. So they weren't charging insane parking fees that hotels located in downtown anywhere typically charge. Would I stay here again in the future? Hells to the yes!

The property itself is fine, but based on my experience, I'd strongly recommend reviewing your charges closely and getting everything in writing!

We were staying one night in Phoenix before our flight and decided to book through our Hilton Honors account at a DoubleTree. The location we originally wanted was full, so we chose the Tempe property instead. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. The woman at the front desk was very standoffish. When we asked about room rates, she quoted a much higher price than our Hilton Honors rate, so we decided to book online while standing in the lobby. When we went back to check in, she told us we had to wait. I also asked for one of the famous cookies, and she said they "weren't ready." She offered no welcome, no information about the hotel, and didn't ask any questions. If you're the face of a hotel, a warm and friendly attitude makes all the difference. Once we got to our room, things didn't improve. The property itself feels very old and outdated. The carpet was torn right at the entrance with sharp pieces sticking out, the AC was loud and squeaky, the headboard wasn't attached to the wall, and we heard a strange tapping sound all night long. We decided to give the property another chance by trying the on-site restaurant, Milagros. Unfortunately, both meals, the ribeye and fajitas the ribeye was raw (and made my husband sick later) and the steak on the fajitas were super tough and both were disappointing. The steaks were poorly cooked and lacked flavor. The one bright spot of the evening was Pedro, who apologized sincerely and provided 50% off my fajitas. His customer service was excellent and truly appreciated. Overall, this hotel does not reflect the quality or hospitality I've come to associate with DoubleTree. It's old, outdated, and lacks the warmth and care that usually make this brand so dependable. I truly hope management takes steps to refresh both the property and the guest experience.
