I can't explain it - if you go you'll see. The auditorium itself was intimate, all the seats were good. It's a historic theater, so there is less room than you might be used to - but I didn't feel uncomfortable. I went for the two night magnetic fields event and I had such a great time. I have to give some extra praise. I thought I lose my wallet the first night, I called the box office and the person there very happily assured me they would check the lost and found and call me back. They did indeed call me back and were so kind. I really appreciated it. If you go, be prepared to park in the municipal garage and walk to the venue. Give yourself some extra time to park and walk.

Pro tip: if members of your party are able to take the stairs, go for that and free up more space in the elevator for those who need it. Bathrooms are located on the main (lobby) level. Accessible stalls are available.

The idyllic hills and surrounding trees make this a lovely walk. The tour guide was informative and fairly friendly. The staff kinda led us a little stray from the tour when we arrived, but they figured things out. The museum itself seems a lot more low-key than Hancock Shaker, the latter being a more vast museum and includes more exhibits and things to see, such as farm animals. With this museum, you'll get a good sense of Shaker living and see some of their aspects of their lives. However, the tour guide will give you a richer sense of what they did and why. The Shakers are an intriguing and interesting people and definitely worth a look. The gift shop offers various Shaker crafts and books. Plus there's a video in the back on the village that you can watch for free. You can go into some of the individual buildings, but many of them were closed, which was a little discouraging and felt limiting. So while I do think this was a good visit and still worth it, Hancock Shaker is a better place to go to learn about the people. (I haven't been to Sabbathday Shaker in Maine yet)

The Shakers were not like the Amish in that they embraced technology and were one of the first villages in New Hampshire to use electricity. (The Shakers and the Quakers were also totally different groups.) The buildings are original, as is most of the furnishings. I HIGHLY recommend you take advantage of the free guide, who will take you into many of the buildings and explain how and why the Shakers were so successful. As you may know, the Shakers were celibate and it seems inevitable that they would die out. However, many people joined the group because of their views about peace and harmony. Also, they willingly adopted orphaned children. These children grew up in the village and frequently stayed, so that the number of people actually increased for over 200 years. This village is well worth the stop and I very much highly recommend this excellent experience.

Unless you really want to see something in IMAX, I would skip, the huge, noisy, chaotic and expensive theaters for this one. You won't regret it!

They have a lot of information about the Challenger that was worth the read and walk down memory lane in remembrance. We arrived at 12:30 PM but were told planetarium tickets were available for 2 PM. We paid $7 for these tickets. I don't know why I thought it was going to be a movie and instead found it to be an informative lecture about planets by a well-versed staff member who spoke about 45 minutes about stars and constellations. They have friendly and welcoming staff.

I especially enjoyed learning about all the different tracks that existed in the region. The volunteer staff were kind in sharing stories. All the awards, photos, and memorabilia speak to the importance of solidarity in the racing community. We wished that the museum was bigger, but we enjoyed visiting and felt like we got our money's worth. The museum is near the New Hampshire Motor Speedway's south entrance. Unfortunately, you can't get a good glimpse of the track from the property.

Eighth year in a row that the Mount Sunapee Duck Drop has transformed peak foliage season into an…read moreequally spectacular experience while helping children. The event has been made possible through the cooperation of Vail Corporation, the resort operator, the Boys and Girls Club of Kearsarge/Sunapee, and many other sponsors and organizations. Northcape Designs was the main coordinator this year. The event is normally celebrated close to Indigenous Peoples Day but this year it was a week early and they lucked out with both, magnificent weather and the height of the foliage season. Besides the fun event, the views from atop Mount Sunapee were jaw dropping. So many people attended that they had to stop duck sales by noon. From speaking to a person in the know, the event nets close to six figures for the very worthy non-profit. The Duck Drop functions like this: you buy one or many packages of ten mini rubber ducks, each of them serialized and numbered. You then take the main Sunapee Express lift to the top. Along the route, participants businesses have placed signs or another contraption or design on the ground with a center target or a container. These are placed directly below the lift line at different intervals. You ride the chair to the top, then aim and drop the rubber ducks onto the target. Something quite difficult to do as the lift line is a good twenty feet above the target, the lift line is moving at a fast clip, and the Autumn breeze can be quite strong. The ducks often bounce out of the target, but one or two make it to the target area. At the end of the event, the duck closest to the center is declared the winner. The day is not only a wonderful activity with the duck drops, but it is also a true Autumn festival at Mount Sunapee. Children bouncing features, games, corn hole bag games, food stalls at the main lodge and atop the summit lodge terrace, and sales at the Mount Sunapee store. The many volunteers for the Boys and Girls Club, as well as the Vail Resorts staff, were at their best. One wonderful activity for the whole family.
