The Chubb theater is such a great venue. The walk way in off the side walk is very beautiful. The lobby is very very big and they have a bar, a snack stand, and sell pizzas from the restaurant across the street. There's even some tables to sit at to enjoy your concessions and lots of room for a merch table, etc. The bar had a good list of offerings - but I'm not sure I loved the magnet/washer beer draft system. I can't explain it - if you go you'll see. The auditorium itself was intimate, all the seats were good. It's a historic theater, so there is less room than you might be used to - but I didn't feel uncomfortable. I went for the two night magnetic fields event and I had such a great time. I have to give some extra praise. I thought I lose my wallet the first night, I called the box office and the person there very happily assured me they would check the lost and found and call me back. They did indeed call me back and were so kind. I really appreciated it. If you go, be prepared to park in the municipal garage and walk to the venue. Give yourself some extra time to park and walk. read more

The Chubb Theatre is an intimate place to catch a concert, theater performance, comedian, etc. that would typically be at a much bigger venue in Boston. The staff is top notch and very friendly. For those with mobility issues, the theatre is accessible via elevator. Exiting after the performance can take a while as the elevator is fairly small. Pro tip: if members of your party are able to take the stairs, go for that and free up more space in the elevator for those who need it. Bathrooms are located on the main (lobby) level. Accessible stalls are available. read more

We have been enjoying shows at the Capitol Center For The Arts, ever since moving to Concord twelve years ago. We have seen some amazing artists over the years from Lindsey Buckingham to Astrud Gilberto. We had fun when we saw the film "Say Anything" and afterwards, the audience could ask questions from John Cusack. Last week we saw the comedian Mae Martin. The Capitol Center gets some big city name and we are very lucky to have access to great entertainment right in our own backyards. The theatre is gorgeous and there isn't a bad seat in the house. The staff are friendly and helpful and I look forward to attending many more shows, right here in my adopted hometown. read more

I had been to this venue once about 15 years ago for another show, but it had been so long I didn't remember much about it beyond the outer appearance of the building. We went back last night to see Celtic Thunder and were very impressed with the venue and the staff! Bathrooms were clean and the line moved fast, and while we didn't visit either the bar or the merch booth, we heard nothing but good things from people who did. My only feedback would be that it might be nice to post signage outside the door telling people where to go in order to pick up their will call tickets, because we watched about half a dozen people cut the entire line of people waiting to enter the building because they thought there was a separate will call line and it turned out there wasn't. We had never been to the Chubb Theater/Capital Center for the Arts in Concord before. Positives are the initial area you walk in and the overall impression of the smaller theater space is historic and nice. Beer on draft, wine and otherwise selection is fairly good for a venue. Negatives: parking is ok-although free after 7 pm on street and at parking garage, as other reviewer said the parking garages are not marked well signage wise and were not easy to find. I'd recommend getting there 20 min earlier if it's a nearly sold out/sold out show due to the line and the parking aspects. The biggest negative for us that is a deal breaker for ever going back were the insanely cramped seats we had in the balcony. We are about 5' 10" tall and could literally not place our legs in front of us and had to straddle the seats because our legs wouldn't fit due to the lack of space and this results in uncomfortable and cramped experience with those behind you hitting your seat as well. Maybe the seats are better on main level? I don't know. Upper center balcony view of stage where we were in was also obstructed by many heads forcing you to lean to the side or hope for shorter person in front of you- I expect some of this having been to many different venues, but it was worse than others. The show itself was great minus the above. Bottom line is they need a disclaimer that you may not fit into the seats if you are a taller or larger person and the venue needs to seriously consider upgrading their seating for a better experience. read more

We took the grandkids to see Santa and they had a blast! The setting was very well organized and the atmosphere was perfect for the Christmas season! We haven't been here to see shows for years, even before COVID, and it was lovely to come back for a holiday outing like this! read more

I came here to see Bernie Sanders on his book tour. The Center is gorgeous and organized. There were plenty of ushers on hand for this sold out event, and everything ran smoothly. The Center is intimate but accommodating and I don't think there was a bad seat in the house . I was further back and still could see everything well. I was nervous I wouldn't get there in time to get a good seat (it was a 3 hour drive for me from RI) but I was really satisfied. I was also impressed with how quickly I got my ticket. I purchased it late Thursday night , and by Saturday the ticket was in my hand. Worth the 3$. My only qualm is that parking is not signed well. There is a parking garage but expect to walk. I'm fine with walking it just wasn't clear where the garage was or if it was municipal parking or for the Center. read more

From the perspective of a couple with a wheelchair user, I'm going to rate this 4 stars. The loss of star is because of parking....there are only 2 accessible spots near the venue. This isn't the venue's fault, it's city parking and there is an accessible parking lot 2 blocks down with a level path to the venue but it still affects us. Purchasing accessible tickets over the phone was incredibly easy, the staff was polite. The building was very accessible, we were led right to the elevator to get to the theatre and then right to our seats which were FRONT ROW (which I just did not expect) and some folks went out of their way to make it a positive experience (like having the elevator ready...small, but a nice touch) The event was to see Juston McKinney (comedian) and it was a great experience! read more

Best little theater around!! There isn't a bad seat in the whole place and music sounds incredible!! Parking can be difficult but if you have a handicap tag you can usually find a spot across the street in the parking garage and there is an elevator even though it's hidden - so just ask for help. Went to see jersey boys and waited over an hour for it to start. Most of that time was spent waiting crammed in the lobby like sheep. Very disappointed. Also the City need to have more handicap parking for these events. It is nearly impossible to get a space and creates a hardship on those that are not mobile to attend shows. read more

The building is gorgeous and set up well for the amount of people going in and out. It is perfect for THEATER. Sadly I was not there for theater but for a rock show. Like I have said before I hate these venues for rock concerts, it is just not enjoyable. The sound is just ok and the crowd (not the venue's fault) resembled bingo night. The big turn off was the I was told to sit during the act I came to see due to blocking the people behind me by someone who looked like my grandmother (a volunteer staff member). Because I am polite I did not argue but REALLY? Who sits at a concert? And if you do you have NO RIGHT to bitch about the people standing and having fun. It seems like most of the staff is volunteer and they were all very nice and the place was VERY organized for the event. There was no parking at the venue (that I saw) but there are garages and plentiful street parking nearby. Very easy to find right off 93 read more

Just saw rent there with some friends. Line down the street- they wouldn't let us take our seats for some unknown reason. Then, they started the show as soon as they opened the doors- before half the audience could take their seats. Also, I got a beer that was $9. They put on great shows, but every one seems to have wtf moments like this... it's just unfortunate. read more

The restored Capitol Center is beautiful with a unique retro-Egyptian interior that I've certainly never seen anywhere else. I went with my mom to the "school" plays that they showed here, but I also went to my first genuine show here. It was night, I had just gotten my license, and I was going to see RENT (which I'm sure my parents had no clue what it was about). So many memories and so many really, truly iconic shows come through here, and as a former NH high-school student, I am very appreciative at the exposure to culture I got through the Center. read more

Just saw the Lyle Lovett Show on 08/03/19. Had seats in the balcony and while the view was great the sound was horrible!! I knew when the MC came out and made an announcement and you could not understand the words we were in trouble. The same thing for the entire show, just horrible! When we left we stopped at the mezzanine level, better for sure, and then the main floor where it was great. Sadly that made you realize how bad the show experience was... I do not know if that was the house system or Lyle's system but someone should walk the perimeter of that venue and listen. In this day and age there really is no excuse for garbled PA sound. Or, if they cannot do anything in the cheap seats they should have a disclaimer that the listening experience will be less than desirable. read more

The Center advertised a free holiday concert to be performed by the Merrimack Symphony Orchestra in December, and tickets were to be available at 11:00AM today. I went on the sight at the appropriate hour to see if I could secure tickets, and the concert was not even listed in their menu of events. After playing around at the site for about 20 minutes, it crashed; and when I was able to get back on, the concert was suddenly there as "sold out". How fraudulent! Of course, all attempts to call the box office were met with a busy signal. In the past, I have purchased a number of tickets to events at this venue, but I will think twice about ever being a patron of this venue again. read more

I like the Capitol Center because they attract bands that I'm pretty sure would never come to New Hampshire otherwise. Plus, it's a beautiful space, they restored it really nicely. My parents (thanks parents!) took me to see B.B. King here when I was probably too young to stay up that late, I remember seeing lots of plays, which I secretly enjoyed as a grumpy 12-15 year old. Some of my personal favorites were a live taping of This American life, and David Byrne with Juana Molina (I saw it in NH before everyone else started peeing their pants about it out here, HA-HA!) Last time I was back in town Bright Eyes was playing there, which I find hilarious on many many many levels... but it all goes to show.. sometimes there are things to do in Concord besides drive up and down Loudon Rd. yelling at girls! Pretty cool place, on the small side. Went here to see Cinematic Titanic with my girlfriend for our anniversary. Ticket prices were reasonable-ish, parking wasn't a problem (we had to walk a bit but no real big deal). There is a bar with your typical beers (was really hoping for at least a smutty or something, red hook appeared to be about as craft as it gets there). Beautiful building inside the actual theater, though one thing i can say is spring for the more expensive tickets. I really don't understand how they could let anyone other than children set up in the balconies, i honestly started laughing when i sat down because i just could not believe how cramped it was. I had a bit of a difficult time enjoying the show as i had to find a way to rearrange myself without literally sitting on top of the person next to me. Would definitely go back if a show i wanted to see was coming through, but only if i could afford good seats. read more
