The Kimball-Jenkins Estate has been gracing the old estate section of New Hampshire's capital city since before the American Revolution. A stone's throw from the site of the first Garrison House built during the French and Indian Wars in the 1740s, the site of the first house built in Concord NH in 1726, and the beautiful, Greek Revival home of President Franklin Pierce, 14th President of the United States. The Kimball-Jenkins Estate is a gorgeous Victorian estate with several annex buildings. The main building houses events and part of the display collection, which this month had beautiful paintings drawn by former Kimball-Jenkins students. I especially liked some that had a little Pollock infusion. The annex buildings house the Academy of Arts and the carriage house is used for special events. In several visits here, I've been in two different events at the carriage house, which is a superb place for events. The rest of the campus is also beautiful and well suited for weddings or just a stroll. A unique, beautiful, and historical gem in New Hampshire's Capital City.

The NH Historical Society Museum is a very good museum that is packed with a variety of state…read morehistorical treasures. Admission is a very reasonable $7.00 per adult. There are exhibits on several floors and visitors get to prowl around on their own as they checkout the stuff. In one end of the Museum is a research library that is chock full of original NH documents, books, records, letters and so forth - all available to the public. The library staff are extremely friendly and helpful. All in all this is a very worthwhile stop! A WORD OF WARNING: the Museum sits close to the State House and if our legislators happen to be at "work" they sure make it hard to find a parking space!

A bit of everything and even the special exhibit was quite interesting on America's Kitchens. I especially loved the kiddy section where you can pretend that you are in a old country store shopping. There is also a cool observatory deck to teach you about forest fires, etc. Volunteers were great and explained about rural life back in the days on the first floor. Afterwards, you can visit downtown Concord with some nice quaint stores. Plus, the state capitol is just across the street. We just had bagel sandwiches for lunch down the street at the Works Bakery Cafe. I tried a honey bear smoothie which was especially good. Then, you can stop by the LL Bean factory store not too far away.

They have classes on Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings. I've only attended the Sunday morning class. It starts at 9am and runs for a solid hour and a half. The pace starts out mellow, then builds to the serious poses and then tails off at the end. There's some stuff in the middle that's beyond me at this point, but I still feel comfortable and not pushed past what I'm comfortable with. I find that there's a good mix of routine and new positions in the classes I've attended. As I mentioned previously, I'm a complete novice, but this place is legit.

(Which btw the pond is clean and grea to swim in!!!!). The house was well cared for, and it showed! All wood, clean lines, and had a great open feeling about it. I felt very comfortable right away, and I usually do not always feel that when arriving at a new place to sleep. We were offered little soaps and toiletries to use. The house was very large, and could easily fit more than the 7 in our group. SO! The yoga, THE YOGA!!!! I was only able to take one class, since I was there for a short time but it left an impression on me and I felt great for the rest of the day. The NEXT day I could feel how hard my body worked. The effort and instruction was peaceful yet guiding. I've never felt that way after yoga! The studio itself is beautiful, open and airy with huge windows. A delight to practice in. We we able to help in the garden, tend to the horses, go blueberry picking, swam in the pond, and in a creek a short walk away. Woods surround the Bethel Farm making it truly a place of relaxation. Overall, positive experience, country done perfectly, trees, a haven away from Manhattan. I'll be back with friends for sure!

Boggis opened the show....with the same act that is seen on YOU TUBE 2011. (as I googled him to ensure that the show was appropriate for my 87 year old mother in law) I personally was disappointed in the three comedians...They seemed to be blind to today's issues....and Ken is in Boston, MA. It appeared to me that the Comics were clearly not prepared to entertain the audience of today. It is my suggestion that the comics do some work prior to their next show.....if they wish to keep the show alive....Mike's parents generator, and Ken's gay uncle ( when Ken is clearly gay) really is not funny... We paid a good amount of money to be entertained.....this missed the mark.

Driving there was beautiful and I live in NH but still think NH is gorgeous! The parking is plentiful and has shade. It was a very hot day so we were very happy for the shade. The young adult at the entrance to the driveway is friendly and helpful! We entered the gorgeous old barn and were immediately WOW'D by the ambiance! Such a gorgeous place! They have a bar set up where you can purchase inviting mock-tails such a lavender lemonade with non alcoholic gin!!! There are other non lavender themed mock-tails as well. The presentation is gorgeous and it was a good size cup, probably at least 15oz, not filled to the brim with ice but enough ice to keep my drink refreshingly cold! Loads of wonderful lavender themed goods for sale! All very attractively staged. This is a beautiful venue. Once you talk to the young adult in charge of pick your own lavender and pay, you are given a basket, shears, rubber band, and instructions on how to cut and where on the plant you should cut. Despite the ungodly heat it was a lovely afternoon with our mom, my sister, and my daughter. The farm is dog friendly as long as they are on a leash. There are a TON of awesome photo ops! An old pick up truck, gazebo with Adirondack chairs in the midst of the field, Adirondack chairs placed in the midst of rows of lavender, the barn, and an adorable vintage camper which doubles as a snack shack with various bites for sale! There are benches and Adirondack chairs scattered all over the property making the entire place very inviting. Chickens were quietly clucking to themselves as they roamed the yards pecking for bugs and worms. They were taking advantage of deep shade and cool earthen hollows they made to keep cool. So picturesque! I highly recommend Pumpkin Blossom Farm. A very generous bunch of lavender is $18, and it is VERY generous!!

There were a couple of reasons that we decided to check out this museum:…read more1) We both had educational and professional backgrounds involving telecommunications. 2) It was a convenient mid-way stopping point before lunch on our drive back to Boston from Vermont. The museum is in a converted house and covers the (probably expanded) main floor. The ladies who staffed the place and sold us the tickets were friendly and gave us a quick overview before starting a short orientation video. After that finished, we wandered around at our own pace. The museum was put together by some locals who had careers in telephony. Thus they had an inside track for getting obsolete equipment that was being replaced donated instead of destroyed. And once they had a core of exhibits, it was probably easier to get other items donated. The exhibits are arranged roughly chronologically. It begins with Alexander Graham Bell and moves forward. There are many old phone sets, from the wall mounted wooden variety up through a shelf of 2000s-era cell phones. They also have a number of switchboard desks showing how manual connections worked. Though most of the items displayed are phones, they also have minor side-exhibits on telephone linemen, historical oddities (what town had the last manual switchboard into the 1980s), etc. This may be somewhat of a niche museum, but I think most elementary school kids might enjoy it. If you are an adult with a general technical / engineering bent, you will also probably enjoy a stop here.
