I've been in here a few times as a novice and always shortly before they close for the night. The owner always answers my endless questions with thorough information and doesn't try to upsell me on products to make a buck. Not sure where all these bad reviews are coming from, probably entitled people who expect fake niceties from everyone they talk to. Owner or the guy that works there whoever he is, is very unfriendly, very grouchy. And not welcoming, not even a greeting or look up when someone walks in. unfortunately I've met some really nice people there when the lounge is open, but I won't be returning again I've given them several chances. Owner guy running the place is unfriendly, grouchy, y unknowledgeable, had his place set up for guests to enter and smoke in the lounge and once I made my way in, picked a cigar, and as I am paying I asked where I may sit he declined me and told me no spot is open inside. I really want to like this place, but I've never been impressed with the selection or service.. This cigar store has been open for the better part of 5 years now and I've stopped in about 10 times since they've been open.. A cigar store being open for the better part of 5 years is an impressive feet in the Katy area, so they must be doing something right.. However, this store is just not for me.. Each time I've enter the store I've never been greeted and I'm seldom acknowledged when leaving.. While A.T. has what seems to be an impressive selection, it's only a facade.. Most of the shelves contain totally empty boxes and when you really step back and examine their inventory you quickly realize it's not as great as it seems from afar.. While A.T. carries most of the major name brands that a novice will appreciate, I have yet to find any super premium cigars here.. On my last visit the closest thing A.T. had that's hard to find was some Anejo. Also, I received a not very truthful story about Opus when I asked if they had any special Fuente products being that Fuente ships the good stuff around the holidays and fathers day and this was Christmas time.. I didn't appreciate being lied to. Overall this is a sold place to get your feet wet in the cigar world, but if you're hoping to find high end cigars, keep looking. read more

This is a great gem in the outskirts of Houston. I was pleasantly surprised at the enormous selection of pipe tobacco, over 100 different blends! Rico was very helpful and had plenty of information about their products. The Pipe tobacco blends were all clearly marked, ranking them in order of best selling between English blends and aromatics. In addition, the humidor was packed full of a huge selection of cigars. There is also a reasonable sized lounge for relaxing with the smoke of your choice. It's free with purchase of a single cigar. I didn't ask but I'm sure it is the same with purchase of a reasonable amount of pipe tobacco. Compared to other tobacco shops in the immediate area, this one is the best! read more

So I've been here a good amount of times by myself and with friends and I don't quite understand why this place has such bad reviews! Anyhow, I decided to give you my experience on this place and what I think. First off, I like the atmosphere. There are a couple of comfy couches as well as tables to sit at if you decide to smoke your cigar here. The radio is usually on with some music and there will also be people smoking every now and then. There are also cards and some board games that you are free to use and play whenever you desire...something I love to do while having a good smoke! Next, the selection. I will admit I am not a hardcore cigar smoker even though I do enjoy a good cigar from time to time. That being said, they have quite a decent selection to suite my needs. There are many brands from Oliva, to the AJ Fernandez line, Kristoff, etc. I have found a different brand to try every time I come here so I can say that I am pleased with their selection. They also have a great selection of pipe tobacco that I am very pleased with, especially since I haven't found any other tobacco shops around here that sell anything other than the crummy pre-packaged pipe tobacco. I don't see why everyone complains about the staff. The infamous Jerry isn't really a bad guy at all. I get greeted when I visit and when I want to buy a cigar he is there to take my purchase so I don't see what else there is to complain about. There was also a woman that helped me out (I don't know her name unfortunately) and when I asked for a recommendation she gave me a thorough description of a couple of brands and helped me make the choice that I was happy with. There are also some cool events every month highlighting a specific brand. I went to the AJ Fernandez event with my cousin and had a great time! The ambience was more lively during the event since there were many people smoking and enjoying their cigars! All in all, I like this place, and when I want to have a good cigar or get some pipe tobacco I come here. I say give it a try and see if you agree! read more

Amazing collection of cigars, if you don't know what you're looking for this place is a great place to start. The employees will describe anything your curious about and even gone you helpful tips and tricks. They will show you the latest in cigar and pipe innovations as well as if it's not busy they will sit and smoke a cigar with you. Pool table, TV's and comfy seating. read more

Dear Absolute Tobacco owner. I urge you to get a change of heart in your business model. When a customer says that they will pay for another customer's cigar, in Texas at least, that is exactly what they mean and they aren't looking for kudos or recognition. Thanks for robbing those rescue effort responders of a blessing and doing the same for me, the customer, who wanted to give a blessing. I realize it was more than one cigar but you need to take people at their word. A shame as I was hoping to find a local cigar lounge I could frequent and now I have to look elsewhere. Absolute Tobacco - Tobacco Shops Near Me - Katy, Texas

This is my first yelp review and it's gonna be a long one so buckle up. This place is great when Rico works (I think he's the guy with all the tats)and the cigars are usually fine. I don't know if Rico is the owner or Jerry, but as long as Rico is there, my experiences have always been very positive. The problem arises when Jerry is working behind the counter. This guy, and I'm trying to be as objective as possible, does not seem to WANT people's business. I've never had a problem when Rico works, but when Jerry is working I usually do. Let me be more specific, one time I guess I was taking too long in my selection and he sort've confronted me in the humidor. (I genuinely think this guy thought I was stealing even though I'm a return customer who regularly spends $60-$80 when I come). Another time, his "reader" supposedly denied my debit card. I thought this was odd, so I went to another cigar shop and imagine my surprise when it worked like a charm. Also, apparently their reader doesn't accept American Express? I guess I didn't realize that was a thing, but this is my first time hearing about it and it's worked in the past. Obviously that could b coincidental, maybe his reader simply doesn't register the card I was using. All those instances aside, the guy is just extremely bitter. Don't expect to be greeted when you walk in or willingly assisted when you need help. He's got a really rude attitude about everything where as Rico treats you like a return customer every time. The experience you have at Absolute Tobacco is night and day between Jerry and Rico. I'm not a business owner, but I would think making your customers feel welcome and going out of your way to make their experience with you be pleasurable would be a top priority. I've even seen reviews where he (Jerry, the owner) cussed at a customer who bought a ton of cigars from him because the guy wanted a receipt... when has it ever been appropriate to cuss at a customer regardless of the situation especially if the guy just gave you a ton of business? All in all, I know this is getting long, but if you're just looking to grab a few sticks this place is great when Rico's there. But If you see Jerry at the counter, you might be better off making a run to Specs instead. read more

I have been to this store several times and have bought a number of cigars. Contrary to the other reviewers, I have found the owner helpful and friendly. Being a relative newby, he has given me some good advice which is consistant with my research. This particular store is in a handy location, and the range of cigars and accessories suits my requirements, are well priced with regular items on sale, and the lounge looks comfortable. Jerry is not a friendly person and the customer service is the worst. I rather order online than spend money with him. It's a drive but if you want a good cigar shop I would recommend Stogies or Serious Cigar. Great customer service and just really good people. And if you want the ultimate in cigar lounge I would suggest Downing Street Pub. read more

Not very much to say about this place. The selection is average at best. The owners and employees are absolutely horrid. They are not helpful at all and are curt at best. Last Friday bought some cigars (from their humidor) to smoke over the weekend. Saturday I realized the two of them were half moist half dry and the wrapper was cracking big time. Not even taken off the cellophane. Here you see already I'm a beginner, I should have look at them better at the humidor room. I brought them back Monday to get them replaced. I was told that they didn't know what I did to them, maybe drop them, left them in my truck under in the heat. I mean I understand their point, I could have abuse them and now wanted to take advantage. I don't think people who buy local do that. It is far cheaper buying online, so these extra bucks spend locally are to support local shops. Anyway, I left as I came in, with my two damaged cigars. So... 1- Absolute Tobacco customer service is pretty bad. I wanted to buy a few more cigars to mitigate their losses and everybody happy. Never did, and never will. 2- They won't see me around anymore 3- I will definitely spend my time looking at your cigars in the humidor to make sure what you buy is in good order. read more

Great store, excellent cigar selection. Owner and staff are very knowledgable. House cigars are very good with great price. For last three years I have been using Absolute for all my cigar and pipe tabac purchases and I am very happy. There are special events organized by owner and cigar distributors when you can get some very good promotional deals on cigars and get to talk directly to factory reps and learn more about cigars you are smoking. As I got to know some of the regulars in the store I also enjoy staying over and having a smoke and good company of people. Recommend this place to anyone and everyone. read more

Found this place online after becoming interested in pipe smoking. No background in it whatsoever but I enjoy cigars and wanted to talk to someone in this family-owned place. I live in Fulshear so it was an easy stop. Man, I've been missing out! Sure, they didn't walk up to me as soon as I hit the door but that was 'ok' by me. I'm not wild about hard sells or somebody bird-dogging me from the threshold to the cash register when I either 1) know what I want or 2) just want to browse and enjoy the atmosphere before proceeding to business. In the case of AB, the atmosphere included not only cigars, pipes, tobaccos and accessories but also a 'Don't Tread On Me' flag and donation box for the Wounded Warrior Project. Both to my immense liking. I got my fill of examining the goods when Jerry walked up and we began discussing pipes and pipe tobacco. He was a font of information and, from what research I had done before shopping, my info was all confirmed during our conversation. So, I got an adequate starter pipe, ounce of tobacco, tamper and instructions in about fifteen minutes and he got a new customer for as long as he is in business. Afterwards, I browsed his humidor. Another great decision! Picked out a Perdomo 10th Anniversary for my next evening cigar. I'll forego Specs, et al, going forward and drive direct to Absolute Tobacco's humidor. I'm not sure about other reviews about AB other than to say I must be a gauche chump because I thought the selection and pricing was right on. Came home and enjoyed two bowls of Spicy Nut from my Missouri Meershaum. Had a pretty good idea of how it worked on the second bowl and will mix pipes into my evening cigar routine. I'll also do all my business with Absolute Tobacco. read more
