Absolute Safeguard was recommended to me by my realtor. I am a first-time home buyer with minimal knowledge of the inspection process or the inner workings of a house. This company and industry are completely worthless. Dino is not qualified to make the suggestions/recommendation he states and puts in his reports. Report claimed that electrical outlets were reverse polarity. After a Certified Electrician reviewed Dino's claims he found nothing that Dino referred to in his report. This is just one of numerous errors made to an unsuspecting first time home buyer. Dino is not a structural engineer yet made claims that a home foundation had sunk. When the foundation was clearly following the contour of the land. Stay away from this company and all like company's in this industry. If you have questions, call experienced certified contractors to view your concerns. This is my considered opinion from a report prepared by Dino and then reviewed by true experts. read more

I gave Dino my credit card information to charge me for the inspection, and he charged me $875 when he was supposed to charge $850 (the document I signed was also saying $850). Even though I emailed him about this matter, he has never replied to my email! $25 is not an issue, but the approach is unacceptable. read more

Safe-Gard performs a very superficial inspection that in no way will jeopardize the sale (and therefore their referral source from real estate agents). Here's a short list of things they missed on my house: 1. Carpenter bee infestation. 2. Mouse infestation. 3. Bathroom vents discharged underneath attic insulation. 4. Deteriorated windows. Some windows were in such bad condition that after being opened and closed a few times the sashes started to fall apart. 5. Plugged downspout over flow pipe. It cost about $1,875 to correctly rerun the pipe. I brought these issues up to Safe-Gard's owner, Dana Wilson, who refused to accept any responsibility. Dana's conduct and responses when he finally (after three requests) came out to the house to review the issues were offensive and unprofessional. Dana actually threatened me when I said I would not allow him to get out of all responsibility for the issues missed by the Safe-Gard inspector. Stay away from Safe-Gard - they perform a useless home inspection and the owner is VERY unprofessional. read more

I had my home inspected by Steve with Absolute Safeguard about a year ago, and he missed several serious issues with the home. Everyone I have hired so far to fix all of my issues have made similar comments such as "Did you get the house inspected before buying because this should have been caught by your inspector." I have been advised by many people to sue, however, they have you sign a disclaimer that they are essentially not at fault for anything missed. It was my first time buying a home, and at the time I was a 23 year old female easily taken advantage of in situations such as this because I did not know much about really anything home ownership wise; I can certainly say now that I have learned a lot from all the problems I have had. I just hope I can help others avoid the same issue. Not to mention, Steve was unprofessionally discussing marriage and politics (subjects in which we also had differing opinions) during the inspection which made me uncomfortable. It was also more expensive than other local inspection companies, however, I was on a time crunch, and they were the only company who could fit me in on short notice. Also, they do not use drones to inspect roofs like many other companies will. Just some things to keep in mind. I highly suggest going with another company if at all possible. read more

My husband and I purchased a home about a year ago. Dino was the inspector. He missed several major items in the inspection report (knob and tube wiring, broken ventilation fans, broken windows, leaky radiator valves, carpenter ant damage to our porch. He also allowed the homeowner and 5 family members to be present during an inspection that I was paying for. I contacted him to let him know and he was very rude and offered to send me a couple of electrical outlets. After several months of obtaining bids, we went to court and asked for the money for the 11k in repairs. The judge sided with Dino because we had paid for the inspection which we were required to do to obtain the report. There are so many disclaimers in the report that it pretty much says that he is not responsible for anything that he misses. The disclaimer statements also note that he is not a contractor and that licensed professionals should be contacted for concerns. The state of PA doesn't even require that inspectors be licensed. Do yourself a favor and inspect the house yourself. If you see anything that is concerning, call a licensed electrician, plumber, etc for a bid. You will save yourself lots of money and time. This is not to say that all home inspectors are worthless, but this guy is. If you are even thinking about paying him for an inspection, ask to see his contact/ inspection report upfront. You'll be shocked by how many outs this guy has given himself and he needs them because he is worthless. read more
