No idea how well they did with the chimneysweeping since we haven't used the fireplace BUT they told me about a problem while I was in a meeting and couldn't pay close attention to their explanation of a new problem they wanted to go to work on before my meeting ended ... so with half a brain I agreed, and it ended up costing me way more than other people I polled for estimates after the fact. Matt did a great job! I had 2 other companies come out and they gave me all sorts of BS and expensive work that they recommended. Some of the information I knew to be absolutely wrong, like all my mortar was disintegrating when I knew that I have a dry stack chimney with no visible mortar. He gave me some tips to take care of some minor build-up versus the thousands of dollars the other companies wanted. He spent a good bit of time on the inspection, versus the one of the other companies just using their phone camera to glance up into the chimney. read more

OMG Matt is the BEST EVER. I got screwed by another fireplace cleaning company 2 years ago and they didn't even get the creosote off the chimney. I had Matt come out to clean my dryer vent because it was taking 3 hours to dry a load of clothes. One bird nest and 30 minutes of cleaning later, our dryer is 4 times more efficient. Apparently it's not normal for your dryer to be hot to the touch. :) Matt was fast, thorough, and friendly. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. Matt could easily be voted Mr. Congeniality in the Mr. Chimney Sweep competition. But what you really need to know is that Matt will happily inspect, clean and give you perfect advice on what you need going forward for your chimney and fireplace. "Well, here's one problem," he said as he picked up a long rusty object. Our burner had simply rusted off our gas fireplace. After researching fireplaces on Amazon and getting Matt's blessings, we made a quick purchase and Matt took care of the installation. Who knew you could call a chimney sweep to clean out your dryer vent? Matt was a rockstar and gave us a same-day appointment because of a cancellation in his schedule. We have one of those dryer vents that goes up to the roof. All my prior experience was venting straight through a wall to the outside, easy peasy, keep it from getting sleazy. Roof venting was a whole new game, and one I'm not excited to play. Could we have done this ourselves? Probably. But I don't own a roof ladder and from what I can tell, a good ladder costs about the same as the clean-out job ($130 and change). Here's what I know: Matt came out, got up on the roof, cleaned the screen, cleaned the vent, and reattached our dryer duct to the wall. And now our dryer hums along like the happy robot it always wanted to be, chirp chirp your clothing is dry. Nothing in the laundry room was scratched or damaged and he did the job as advertised. It is not often you give a 5 star review when you didn't even meet the person or do business with the company you are reviewing. In this case, however, Matt fully deserves this rating. We are renovating a property and needed help with a chimney our architect deemed in need of repair. We were juggling 4 different schedules, including Matt, for a unified GC meeting and in the confusion Matt was not able to make the date as he thought it was for a day earlier. All in all a very unfortunate situation. The reason for the 5-star review is due to Matt's professionalism and absolute flexibility in trying to make this appointment. We were having squirrels inside the wall adjacent to our chimney and when we had ABC come look at the situation we learned our chimney was missing a crown/cap. Yikes! Matt from Absolute Chimney replied to my service request via Yelp within 12 hours, came to assess things within a couple of days. We scheduled a repair which he completed today. Matt was prompt, respectful of our property, and totally cleaned up afterwards. He explained exactly what he did and how he did it which was not an easy task since our house is two-stories and has an extreme slant to the roof where it meets up with the chimney. He built a temporary wooden base between the chimney and roof to place his ladder (and his helper had a ladder on the opposite side). On the Monday before Thanksgiving I call this guy without a doubt in my mind he will be scheduling me for at least 3 weeks out. Much to my surprise he said that he was booked for two weeks, but took a second to check what area I was in and what his day looked like. We happened to be in the same area (genius salesman or sheer luck, you decide) and he could make it in about 1 hr. He estimated his arrival and was accurate to within 5 minutes. He arrived and took care of all our needs - describing the type of fireplace we have, why we might have smelled a weird odor in the past, and options for our gas lighting wood fireplace. I moved into this house just under a year ago. I decided that I would like to use the fireplace, but it was clear that the chimney had not been cleaned in years. I wanted it cleaned and inspected before using the fireplace. Absolute was very professional and left everything spotless. While here, they also added a rain cap to the chimney and did minor repair, so my chimney is not only clean, but better protected from the elements.
