Just left Absolute alterations and WOW! My visit today was nothing short of pleasant. I'm on a quick trip and needed my new linen pants taken in and shortened right away. Having done a quick search on yelp I came across this place and made a call, i explained I needed same day service, and the gentleman on the phone was kind and said I could stop by. Once I arrived the lady - Nahid whom I believe is the owner measured me and within 2 hours my pants were complete. Even though the job was a rush, she didn't charge a rush fee. In fact the price was extremely reasonable. My pants were perfectly altered and pressed beautifully. It's unfortunate i won't be able to come back to this place- I live in the Bay Area. My go-to alterations place, Rose's, apparently did not survive the pandemic shutdown, unfortunately. So I had to go looking for another place. I found Absolute Alterations on Yelp, was impressed by all the good reviews and went there to get four pairs of pants hemmed, with one waist taken in. Not even one of these were done correctly. Not. One. It honestly should have been a red flag when the woman hemming my pants never used a ruler, when I had to keep telling her to raise the hem over and over, and had to practically beg her to pin up both pant legs by suggesting that not everyone's legs are exactly symmetrical. It was really a red flag when, one day before pick-up, I get a phone call asking me, "Now, *which* of your legs is longer than the other?" What?! What kind of question is that? Did they lose all the pins? Are they altering by guesswork? I honestly have no idea how something as simple as hemming pants could be done so consistently badly by anyone, let alone a "professional", but when I got them home, every one was still wiping up the floor, even in higher heels than what I'd worn to the fitting; two of the pants had a longer left leg than right, and the one altered waist was still so big, the pants kept drooping down. I suppose I could go back and insist on a fix. But why bother? It's not like I was asking for a finely tailored recreation of an Elizabethan court gown. I needed pants hemmed. You can't get more basic than that. If you can't do that right, there's no point in wasting more time. So, now I'm without four pairs of wearable pants, plus down $82 for nothing, and still in need of a tailor who managed to pass 7th Grade Home Ec. Don't make my mistake. Stay away. read more

Excellent Work! I found Absolute Alterations on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I dropped off a blazer on a Wednesday that was about two or three sizes too large and by Friday it was finished. It fit perfectly, like a glove. I've been to a few other locations in the area, but this place is affordable and so far nothing has matched this quality. I will definitely return and hope this review, which I am writing on my own accord, helps you to decide to give them a try. My experience was similar to CyCy C. Friendly and super sweet when I dropped off my clothes for alternation (clerk, not owner). When I returned, the pants were still too big... apparently the clerk didn't take the measurements correctly. The owner then re-measured and made another alteration. When I returned to pick-up, the waist and legs were the correct width/length, but the "seat" still needed to be drawn in proportionally. It was super obvious looking in the mirror, but the owner made a huge argument and said she was going to charge me more to correct "her" error. The final product was good, but after 4 visits (including the eventual pickup) and tacking on additional charges, I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I have brought two dresses to be altered. The work was done late and the quality of it was disappointing. 1. Dress number one was converted into tunic. The needle that was used for silk garment was too thick and pulled the fabric, the altered cuts for the sleeve were not even and the over all delivery was late by two weeks. 2. Dress number two was converted into a pencil skirt. The elastic on the skirt was not finished with anything and had three drunk stitches on the left. Threads were sticking out of everywhere. It was late by one week because I found the work unacceptable and asked her politely to redo it. Fortunately I got my two redone and equally cut garments back. I paid 37$ to go there three times and tell her where she was wrong. I am not a couturier but I know stitching and how to take care of delicate clothing. The work done was very rough and not professional. I hope she reads my review as a constructive criticism and not a rant. read more

This place is awesome! My friends and I needed some last minute alterations on Halloween and needed an emergency alteration job done within 4 hours, and Absolute Alterations got it done! She did a wonderful job and made our costumes, which would have been a disaster, into a beautiful masterpiece within hours. I couldn't be more grateful. The charges were beyond reasonable, too. Nahid is the best alterer I have ever worked with in my life! she manages to make my clothes fit and look better than I can even envision. Since finding her, I have brought so many of my pants and dresses to her for alterations. I'm only giving one star because I have to. If it were up to me they would get no stars! They were friendly when I went to drop off my clothes and super sweet. The lady even gave me a reduction in price "just for me". When I came to pick up with my receipt I was getting over charged and the woman explained that a hem was $15 when my copy said $10. And the "just for me price" did not apply to the other garment because the lady who did that was not there and failed to put it on the carbon copy. They seem to change prices just because they feel like it. Very unprofessional and I will not return nor do I recommend this place to anyone. The woman even went as far to insist that I changed the price on my own on my copy of the receipt. Do not go here! I took my wedding dress in for alterations, and Manijeh is amazing. She did so much hard work, unexpected work (the zipper in my dress was crap and the teeth literally came off at the pull of an errant thread), for a fraction of the price of bridal salons. For a hem (7 layers of floof), a bustle, a new zipper, and a complete re-do of my mothers' 80s veil, she only charged $325. I would have paid more if she had let me! Manijeh is also such a sweetheart, I enjoyed visiting her and talking with her as we inspected everything that was done. I can't recommend her enough. I brought some curtains in to be hemmed. She finished the job very quickly, but unfortunately when I got them home, they were shorter than I wanted. I thought I measured right the first time, and she thought she measured right too. She easily could have claimed it was my fault and been done with me, but she took the curtains back and lengthened them for me, no charge. I purchased an expensive dress from a popular pinup store to wear to an event on a Saturday. I received the dress on Thursday and noticed the cleavage was not symmetrical. I planned to exchange the dress believing it was a quality control issue. I went to the brick and mortar location to exchange but realized all the dresses were cut this way. I opted to have mine altered instead. Unfortunately, by this time it was Friday, after 4 pm--closer to 5. I searched yelp and it brought me here. I showed the owner the problem and she quoted me a price. I sheepishly asked if she could possibly have it done by the next day. She asked what time and again I winced and asked if 11am was a possibility because it was an all day event. She said,"yes!" My husband picked up my dress at 10am and it was perfect! I had an important wedding to go to and of course, I waited till the last minute to figure out what I was going to wear. 2 days before the big day, I bought a pair of dress pants in the right color but wrong size--I'm pretty short so getting a good fitting pant off the rack is all but impossible. After a Yelp search, I quickly went to 'absolute' with the hope of just getting them shortened, I could make it work as long as they weren't dragging. I walked in and was greeted with a smile. She happily agreed to alter them and get them back to me the day of the wedding. Phew!! Relieved. So I put them on and as she was figuring the length she said, "don't you want me to narrow them? they'll look better" I said yes, please, absolutely, you can do that in such a short time frame? She smiled and said of course. I was so grateful, I thought having them narrowed was too much to ask for with the time crunch but it made such a big difference in the look of the pants. I always have trouble with pants being too long. If you need a tailor to hem pants, this is a good spot to check out. The owner is very friendly and definitely knows what she's doing. Unfortunately, I didn't catch her name. It was a quick process, in and out the first time to drop off a pair of pants that needed to be hemmed. She had me try the pants on and measured them on me to ensure the length would be just right. I left the pants, and when she told me they would be ready in 3 days, I asked if there was any way she could have them done in 2 days instead. The best part: without any hesitation, she said yes, and it was a done deal with no extra charge for having the pants done a day faster. I came back 2 days later, tried the pants on in the store, and they fit just right! Quick, easy, friendly, and only $10 to have a pair of dress pants that fit me perfectly.
