It is a bummer when your 20 year old HVAC goes out in the middle of winter, but having someone come out and take care of you during a time like that is such a relief. Our Carbon Monoxide detectors starting going off, which really indicated a serious problem. Ed came out and explained the issues with our furnace in detail and gave us options of repair vs replacement and the various replacement options. We elected to go with a hybrid Gas/Electric/Heat Pump system. The quote was fair, I mean this stuff is expensive, but we knew the ball park costs going in and the quote was reasonable. Ed helped us figure out how to make sure we had the right hook-ups, venting location and place in the house for a new air intake port that could work in our 80 year-old house with the least intrusive modifications. Luis and Devon came out to do the work. It was a 2 day process and they were friendly, knowledgeable and pleasant to be around. If someone is going to be in your house for 2 days it is always great to have them be nice people, which they were. Cody, the owner, came by each day to check in and answer our questions and make sure we understood how the system worked. When the work was finished, everything was cleaned up and tidy. The gas furnace was about 25 years old and rated for a 1000 sqft home and the ductwork under the house was ripped and torn. Our house wasn't heating, our gas bill was $400 a month alone. Instead of trying to fix the current system, we wanted to upgrade to AC/heat and modernize with ceiling vents. We landed on a hybrid system: 4 ton variable heat pump outside, a backup gas furnace in the attic, whole house filter, 2 zones for the house because of our layout with two gen 4 nest thermostats, r8 ductwork, 15 ceiling vents, 2 air intakes, and all the permits. Their quote included a 3 year warranty on labor, whereas the other 4 companies were only 1 year. Nice bonus perk. The project took 5 full days to complete, and they are coming back Monday for a partial day for final touch ups. Anson came by same day and walked through the property with me, getting the full picture of what we would need. He literally drew everything out, saying it's very important that I understand what is going on because it is permanent. Anson cleared up a ton of questions I had. We talked over vent location, system size, zoning, equipment, everything. He took his time and was very patient. The quote he gave was very competitive to the other 4 I received. I decided on Spot Free because of Anson's care in explanations, his patience and detail, their quality of yelp reviews, the labor warranty and finally their price. I kept the contract though because of Jamie lol she is such a sweetheart. One of the other companies, bigger named and 2k+ reviews offered to price match, but I loved Jamie so much, as well as Anson was so quick to answer my questions over text, and the labor warranty was better. Decided to stay with them even with the price match, although that was very generous of the other company to do. The install itself went super smoothly. Brandon was the lead communicator with us on the project. He, and the whole team, did an amazing job! I felt like he kept us in the loop about everything important, in a non-invasive way, we got the vents mostly where we wanted them (beams/structure dependent), and we could still live in the house mostly uninterrupted with what I felt was still a ton of privacy given the scope and nature of the work. Honestly didn't even notice they were here for the most part, my husband and dad napped through most of the noise lol! The amount of care the team had for our belongings was also very impressive, and noted. They covered everything with plastic sheets, including stuff in our garage like our stroller. That attention to detail was super kind! They also fully cleaned up after themselves every day! Vacuumed, swept, taped up the work in progress vents, removed sheeting, etc. They were also all super careful to keep doors closed, we have 2 cats and I never worried they would be let out. It was a pleasure having the team here! The vents look super clean! Very well done. The thermostats work great, Brandon helped get them set up on our phones in the google home app and patiently, after what I know to be a long day, taught us the various settings so we could get started and ensured all parts of the system were working, much appreciated! We have heat! This is excellent! And the system is so so so quiet! It's just night one after install, but the whole house is an even temperature. DBA Same day HVAC services, paid one visit to my home to fix my furnace, which he described as plugging in the unit and turning on the gas, which was confirmed by the tech I haired that no one opened the unit to trouble shoot anything. On multiple occasions the technician called me stating "you just want a new furnace right"? I told him well yes if my current furnace could not be fixed. He then asked my wife the same thing before ever even looking at the furnace. Once he looked at the furnace he said he would fix it temporarily but get me the quote for the new unit. I was originally told $5246 then when I called the company the owner/GM told me oh you wanted us to run it through your insurance? Well I'll let them know we went out twice so they understand it needs replacement. I was confused at first so I was finally able to get a hold of a friend to come look at it that does HVAC and he said this unit is very clean internally and it's a capacitor and a small clog in the vacuum pump. It ended up being a $250 fix and told me I shouldn't have an issue with it for 5-7 yrs. I then receive an amended quote letting me know the replacement would be $3700. We decided to get a mini split heat pump installed, and he was very up-front with the pricing and what he would ask from me. I was responsible for pulling the building permit, but it wasn't very difficult to do, and by my estimate from other quotes I got, it saved us hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. The project started quickly and was done in a few days despite it being rather involved.
