If you've ever represented yourself in a lawsuit, you already know how frustrating and overwhelming…read moreit can be to navigate the legal system on your own. At some point, you will need a registered process server to handle various legal documents. After becoming increasingly dissatisfied with the RPS company I had used for years, I decided to take my business elsewhere. I found Swift Legal through the California Association of Judgment Professionals, where several members highly recommended the company. When I called to ask about their fees, the person I spoke with suggested that I talk to the president, Frank Kaul, who is an expert in writs and levies. Frank called me back, and we spoke at length about my judgments and the difficult litigation I was still dealing with. He listened with genuine empathy and kindness and took the time to understand my situation and what I had been going through. I have been using Swift Legal ever since, and I couldn't be happier. They are knowledgeable, experienced, responsive, and professional, but what truly sets them apart is that they genuinely care. They make me feel like I have a partner in this years-long legal battle and that I don't have to figure everything out on my own. I only wish I had found them sooner. If you ever need a registered process server, I cannot recommend Swift Legal highly enough. You will be in excellent hands.

They just did a terrific job for me on a rush assignment dealing with a particularly difficult Sheriff's Office. They moved heaven and earth to get something done in one day. This is the second time they basically dropped everything and got something done for me that was pretty difficult. They have also finessed a few things in the San Mateo Sheriff's Office. (Frank knows the local Sheriffs and is careful to follow the procedures in each office -- this one needs a declaration re electronic writ even after the change in the SER forms etc...) If you have work in Nor Cal, I can't recommend them highly enough. (I should also mention that they just opened an office right across from CT Corporation in Glendale)

I selected East Bay Legal Services because they offered a standard 5-day process service with up to…read morefour service attempts. Initially, my experience was positive, they promptly filed my court documents, and I appreciated their quick work at the beginning of the process. Unfortunately, communication came to a complete stop after that. Over the following month, I sent multiple follow-up emails, made several phone calls, and left a voicemail requesting an update on the status of my service request. Despite these efforts, I generally received no response and no information regarding whether service attempts had been made or what the next steps would be. I understand that service of process is not always straightforward and that delays can occur. My concern was not the delay itself, but the lack of communication. Even a brief update would have been appreciated and would have given me confidence that my case was still being handled. Because I was unable to obtain any solid information after more than a month, I ultimately decided to retain another process server to avoid further delays in my court matter. I hope the company improves its communication with clients, as timely updates are especially important when people are relying on process service for legal proceedings.

6 stars if I could…read more I've used these guys for process service more than once. In other words, I was so impressed with the job done on the first situation that I called them first the second time I needed papers served. Both times involved deadbeat landlords who refused to pay back security deposits upon move out. I needed small claims forms served for both. The first situation was difficult as the landlord attempted to evade service. Craig was fantastic as far as performing all the steps necessary to effect service via procedure acceptable to the court where the subject won't physically accept the paperwork. Needless to say, the defendant had no choice but to show up for trial and receive a verdict against them. The second situation was much easier as the property management company was huge, and service simply involved dropping off the paperwork with the manager on duty. But Craig and company got it done literally within a couple hours of when I called. My concern this time was whether I'd need to pay extra for a rush job because the deadline to serve was fast approaching. But Craig got them served pronto anyhow, and I was able to breath a little easier knowing that all the court T's and I's were crossed and dotted. We won't be suing any landlords in the foreseeable future since we now own instead of rent, but if any other situations happen to arise involving process service needs or other activities Gotcha performs, I will be calling them first. In fact they may indeed be getting our business again as the most recent defendant is thus far ignoring the judgement against them which means we may have to use the court for collection purposes which involves a hearing and obviously a subpoena served on the defendant.
