Recently I had the misfortune of being seen by Abramson who's examination took all but two minutes where upon entering the room in non-clinical attire (suit, not a lab coat), handed me a white sheet of paper with a copy of my driver's license on it and informed me that I failed to present my insurance card to his staff. This I felt was unprofessional and should have been handled by a staff member. After the quick exam Abramson wrote out a prescription with the wrong date and failed to be specific about what was medically required for a test. This brought me to an even more painful experience with his New York staff because that's who I was referred to by the NJ office. I was spoken to in a very nasty way by Pat in NY and hung up on more than once along with my wife and a two representatives from Holy Name Hospital. A third representative contacted Abramson directly and she was told to deliver a message to me from the doctor....he told her to tell me to calm down. All I needed was more specific information on the prescription and an authorization code for the insurance company. I saw Abramson on Dec. 10th. Today is Dec 23rd and no one in his office has yet to contact me with an insurance authorization code or a more detailed Rx which is required by the hospital. Even the hospital staff cannot get anyone from his NY office to answer any questions. They just hang up!!!
I've been handled in a very unprofessional manner as well as my wife and three members of Holy Name Hospital, Teaneck staff. This entire process to date, has delayed my medical care.
Note:If you do decide to go to Abramson, make sure before you leave the office the Rx is filled out properly and if a pre-cert is required, it's stated on the Rx because if you need to call the NY office, 'Alex' who is in charge of pre-certs, is either with a patient, with another doctor for the day, out for lunch or out that day and will not call you back and Pat will run interference for her.
