This is perfect for trail running. The trail is wide and you're not going to have to worry about mountain bikers sneaking up on you over that next ridge. It's perfect for laps. Heading into the woods, there are decent trails for hiking. There were not many people here when I went on a Saturday morning. A boy scout troop was rebuilding a sign near the parking lot, but other than that, we only encountered a few people walking their dogs in the woods. There is also easy access to other trail systems from the trails in the Gosnell Big Woods. You can plan a lengthy day hike right here in Webster with trails covering miles of terrain. Some areas seemed particularly boggy and buggy, and the breezes are limited because of the dense tree cover. Prepare yourself with bug spray, and of course check yourself for ticks after you've been on a hike. Gosnell is a great place for trail running, getting out into nature without having to go very far. I would dare say it's a hidden gem of a place right in our own back door!

There is also a large wildflower field to enjoy and many insects, birds, and other critters to see. The small woods trail weaves past a beautiful meadow and young transitional forest while the big woods forest weaves through "the big woods" with all the ancient and beautiful trees. They also have some pretty expansive butterfly fields, which, alas I was unable to fully appreciate because I didn't go there at quite the right time of year but that's okay. Toward the back is a beautiful lake, and I'd recommend sticking to the trails back there because it can get kind of muddy otherwise. Great place to see a bunch of frogs, deer, and the occasional snake.

The terrain is relatively flat so it's good for folks of a wide variety of fitness levels. I think this would be a great place to introduce a young one to hiking as the trails aren't too long or challenging and there's a variety of stuff to look at. There are also a few benches scattered throughout to sit and take a break. There are quite a few knobby roots in the paths so I'd recommend shoes with sturdy soles. We didn't go out to the longest trail because we stopped on a whim and weren't wearing the best shoes. All the trails are well marked with white maps that show where you are and all the other trails so it's really easy to navigate. There are a few older signs that must have been there for a while and some of the trail names seem to have changed. So just ignore those. The first trail that spurs off the main trail leads to a little pond, but we couldn't really see it as it was obscured by cattails. Our favorite trail was the boardwalk trail as you're surrounded by all the cattails and it feels like the boardwalk just goes on forever. We saw some folks that looked like they were there to bird watch, so it might be a good place if you're into that. As it is a nature preserve, there are signs posted for no dogs and no biking. There's other info posted at the trailhead and some interesting posters as well.

This is a really lovely park... plenty of open space for playing games on the grass, getting some…read moresun, and also a pavilion or two for larger groups that want some cover & picnic tables. in the lower area, there's a very short little pathway by the water... there were kids playing and exploring the water, and someone else was fly fishing. On the upper portion of the park is the actual walking trail, which is a really well worn out path and very easy to walk (though I wouldn't consider it accessible to those in wheelchairs, etc). There isn't really anything to *see* at the end... it just kind of ends... but then you turn around and walk back. Honestly, my dog was more than happy to explore the entirety either way. :) I do have to remove one star because their bathroom facilities aren't great. At the time of my visit, the women's restroom was completely clogged - and the men's room was basically a single stall. :-/ TL;DR Really enjoyable park and I'll definitely be back in the future.

It is a little tricky to find and negotiate where the best views are, which I think is what keeps people away and maybe slightly intimidated. I took on this park after exploring the Maplewood Rose Garden, and found that jaunt to be perfectly doable, if you're thinking about making an afternoon of it. When I was there, we took some time to explore the artwork, which includes some great and unbiased pieces about Rochester's past. We hopped a small railing to get up close and personal with the falls, which provides a great view. If I am remembering correctly there are some tents and a community making their home in this part of the park, so just be aware of that. I highly recommend taking your next park trip to Lower Falls!

The parking lot can be a battle to squeeze into spots and can end up waiting for a spot. The spots…read morein the front do have a steep drop off from the pavement. The path starts off great running over and along the river with nothing but beautiful wildlife around you. It then begins to get steep and bit dangerous if you head the left route but forced to walk through the cold clean water if you head right. So water shoes are STRONGLY recommended here and still can be dangerous. The 1st waterfall is impressive and peaceful with the crashing waters. We sadly didn't see the 2nd waterfall because it didn't look safe enough to walk on the slippery rocks. It's a nice hike if you're prepared for the time and get here early in the day.

The day we went, it was kind of muddy which made it that much harder. I have participated in indoor rock climbing for years but this scared me. There were times were my full body weight were on these ropes. Ropes someone else tied, who knows how well and how long ago! The fall itself is stunning but it is a little dangerous. Naturally there was tons of trash down there as well. If you take the path to the left, it is a easy walk to the top of the falls. Very beautiful and easy!

Near Rochester, right off a highway, Corbett's Glen is very easy to get to. It's located inside a…read morequaint neighborhood (expect to walk behind houses at points along the hike), and is very well-maintained. We started on the wood-area of the park, walking toward the creek and water falls at the Glen itself. The round trip of the hike was just a sliver more than 2 miles but it was an easy hike, with just two sections of up/down hill-climbing. Very beautiful and picturesque, with an amazing tunnel under the Amtrak tracks. Very much recommended for a short, morning hike if you don't mind the drive out.
