I love love love Andrew, his teaching style, everything. After taking tons of acting classes from all kinds of teachers, I would bucket Andrew's class into the category of "Foundational". This doesn't mean his class is for beginners -- far from it. I'd actually say his classes are for those who are serious about the craft of acting and want to grow and deepen their relationship with themselves as an actor. There are a lot of classes that are geared toward specific acting niches. Meisner, comedy, commercials, auditioning, etc. Personally, I don't find classes that focus on one methodology (like Meisner) to be helpful, because they make you take a specific avenue to get an end result. I don't think you ever get in tune with who YOU are as an actor when you're going this route. It's always about the methodology, which can be kind of culty. Specific classes for things like comedy or auditioning for tv/film are great, but they aren't foundational. They're skillsets you need if you want to be a working actor in LA, but those classes won't make you a great actor, and they won't get you more in touch with who you are as a human, which is so needed for this craft! Andrew's class focuses on the core principles of becoming a fine actor. If you are a beginner, you are in the right place. If, like me, you've been in 20 different classes with different teachers, and you don't even know what to do with a script anymore because your technique styles are all jumbled up in your brain, you'll leave this class with clarity AND inspiration. Andrew's class is going to get you really comfortable with a script and a scene partner and YOURSELF. In my opinion, we are our own biggest obstacles in becoming great actors, and Andrew's style of teaching will bring you home to YOU while simplifying your becoming and unfolding of finding the actor within.

I learned some valuable lessons from Andrew. But an adjustment that needs to be made in his…read morecommitment to his students careers. Acting class is expensive, many of us invest in it to grow as an artist to help our careers and hopefully make a living doing it. Many of us are struggling and work several jobs to make ends meet. I received a huge opportunity to go and read for a series regular role, it happened to land on Andrew's first day of class. Instead of being supportive and accommodating to move my start date to the next session, he threatened to keep my full deposit with no possible refund. I had to make a choice. I wish he didn't make choose. I've moved onto other wonderful acting studios and I'm a working actor now. None of these other studios have tried to put their class over my career. It's been years but I wanted to come back and share my experience because it really scarred me back when I was starting out and taking a chance on my first acting class.

There are many acting studios in Los Angeles that create toxic co-dependent relationships, ones in which the student feels dependent on the teacher/coach. Because of LAS, I've rediscovered confidence & playfulness in my auditions. Desean & his faculty build an environment of curiosity, freedom, and exploration all within a safe container. You'll always catch Desean asking the class for feedback after a scene. It feels like it's important to him to expand not just our critical thinking skills as an ensemble but to pay attention to every ounce of behavior. Desean's perception skills are on another level. He picked up on every actor trick I had on my first day of class. It'll feel vulnerable at first, to be seen so deeply but that's the work. Class culture is both individualized & ensemble oriented. He doesn't play favorites and every adjustment/redirect/prompt/exercise is specifically tailored to the individual actor. I LOVE LAS.

LAS is a great choice for actors that are looking to work on getting more involved (physically, mentally, spiritually) in the process, digging deeper, exploring nonlinear ways of building a scene, & just raising the ceiling on their work. Class here is amazing. Desean is the type of coach who will always treat you with respect, empathy & care while pushing you along the path of discovering your own greatness. Its not the type of class where u can learn something & coast. If you're open, you'll have moments where you crash and burn in a safe space (just real excruciating embarrassment) & also moments of genius & brilliance. Sometimes we have snacks.

I've been coming for years before they started upping the price. Now it's hard to get a rehearsal spot from all the promotions pirate doing so it's brought in a certain crowd that's tagging up the place. Be ready to just bring your own extra equipment whether it's cables or microphones cause they don't have anyone to help you out. It's basically self check in but IMO it's bad ass still we've never had an issue except for their AC not working at times. Pirate hooks you up with deals and promos if you have an account online with them so it comes in clutch sometimes when you just want your own space to get out the house and focus on your music. I'm serious about the promos, I've gotten 8hr sessions for mad cheap just from discounts or referring people to sign up. Parking is a little hassle but once you know your way around and figure out the busier times of the day you'll know when to book your session. Night or early morning is always the best there ain't many people. Again, don't let those few bad reviews turn you away. Some people act all extra about anything now a days
