I am incredibly thankful for the entire team at Sunflower for always making themselves available…read morewhen our family needs care the most. From Jessica and Aly, to Lily and Vanessa, the front and back office staff, Ani in the lab, and everyone behind the scenes we truly cannot thank you enough. Jessica and Aly are incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely show how much they care for their patients. Bedside manner is so important to our family, especially when it comes to our children, and everyone at Sunflower consistently makes us feel heard, reassured, and cared for. Today, our toddler suddenly developed a rash, and I called the office frantic because I truly did not want to take him to an urgent care. Without hesitation, they found a way to squeeze us in and make sure he was evaluated and received the care he needed. As a parent, having a medical team you can trust and turn to during those stressful moments means more than I can put into words. We are so grateful to have found a practice where, from the moment we walk through the door until the moment we leave, our family is treated with kindness, patience, compassion, and gentleness. You can truly feel that patient care comes first and that the people caring for you genuinely care about what they do. We hope to be part of the Sunflower family for many years to come. From our family to every single one of you, thank you for always going above and beyond and for taking such wonderful care of our family.

This was especially frustrating because Jessica, the owner, explicitly told my wife that the visit would be in-person. There is no reasonable explanation for how a one-year well visit, which requires weight, measurements, physical exam, and developmental checks, can be done virtually. What made this worse is that Jessica was physically present, walked by multiple times, clearly aware of the situation, and did nothing to address it, despite being the person who gave us the incorrect information in the first place. No apology. No clarification. No attempt to fix the mistake. We left without being seen after wasting an entire morning, gas, and a baby's schedule. This was disorganized, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. No regard for a parent's time; I had to take a day off work. If you are a parent considering this practice, confirm everything in writing, because verbal assurances apparently mean nothing here.

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at CHI Crisis Center was so disturbing and disappointing…read morethat I feel compelled to share it. A mental health crisis center should be a place where people receive compassionate care, emotional support, appropriate treatment, and help regaining stability and a sense of security. Unfortunately, my experience was the complete opposite. The treatment I experienced, particularly within the crisis unit, was deeply concerning. In my experience, certain staff members displayed an unacceptable lack of professionalism, empathy, and respect toward patients who were already struggling with their mental health. Rather than feeling supported, I felt verbally mistreated, ridiculed, and humiliated throughout the day. I was left feeling as though the very people responsible for providing care were contributing to my emotional distress. I was especially disturbed by staff members cursing at patients, speaking negatively about them within earshot, and making disparaging remarks as though patients could not hear them. People receiving mental health treatment deserve dignity and compassion, regardless of their circumstances. Mocking, belittling, or disrespecting vulnerable individuals is unacceptable in any healthcare environment, especially in a crisis unit. The condition of the unit and the lack of basic necessities were also disappointing. I found the environment concerning from a cleanliness standpoint, and access to basic toiletries appeared inadequate. Patients were provided with hospital gowns without straps, which left me feeling exposed and uncomfortable. Even basic necessities, such as access to clean drinking water and cups, raised concerns during my stay. Another major issue was the apparent lack of structure and meaningful therapeutic activities. I did not experience a consistent schedule of therapy sessions or productive activities that would help patients work toward recovery. Instead, much of the time was spent lying in an uncomfortable, institutional-style bed, with little opportunity for meaningful engagement. A crisis center should be providing appropriate therapeutic support and helping patients regain stability, not leaving them feeling neglected and trapped in an environment that resembles confinement more than treatment. Communication was another serious concern. When I requested medication, I felt ignored rather than heard. Patients should be able to express their medical needs and receive appropriate attention, communication, and follow-up. Being dismissed when seeking assistance is particularly distressing in a mental health setting. I was also disappointed by the overall atmosphere and the conduct of certain staff members. I observed behavior that I felt was unprofessional and inconsistent with the responsibilities of healthcare workers. Patients should never have to worry about being mocked, discussed disrespectfully, or treated as an inconvenience by the people entrusted with their care. In my opinion, these concerns go beyond individual interactions and raise important questions about staff training, supervision, accountability, and the culture established by management. Leadership has a responsibility to ensure that every patient receives respectful treatment in a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment. I believe CHI needs to take a serious look at how patients are treated and whether its practices genuinely support recovery. I also left with concerns about how decisions regarding the length of patient stays are made. I questioned whether financial considerations might influence those decisions, although I cannot independently verify the reasons behind any particular patient's length of stay. Patients and their families deserve transparency, appropriate communication, and confidence that treatment decisions are based on clinical needs. What troubled me most was the contrast between what a crisis center is supposed to represent and what I personally experienced. People who seek mental health care are often going through some of the most difficult moments of their lives. They deserve patience, understanding, compassion, and professional treatment--not humiliation, ridicule, or neglect. **Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend CHI Crisis Center without first carefully considering other available options.** I would encourage anyone researching this facility for themselves or a loved one to ask detailed questions about staff conduct, treatment plans, therapeutic programming, cleanliness, medication procedures, and patient rights. I sincerely hope this review encourages CHI's leadership to investigate these concerns and make meaningful improvements. Patients deserve an environment that promotes healing, stability, and safety. No one should leave a mental health facility feeling more emotionally damaged, disrespected, or unsupported than when they arrived. On a more positive note, a staff member named Melvin was actually nice to see around.
