Garbage. Overrated. Abysmal. All common names, and all truthful. We are ised to mega-corporations following rules and standards. However.. this company defies all modern standards and should be avoided. Drivers do not attempt deliveries for days. The only good part about this company is the clerical department, which makes promises that can never be delivered. Would be zero out of 100 if it were offered. read more

TL;DR: ABF Carefully delivered a huge TV from a warehouse in SoCal to my home in NorCal in under 3 business days, and the local driver went way beyond my expectations to be helpful. The full story: Late Friday afternoon I purchased a huge but cheap refurbished TV from Woot, with $5 shipping. I knew that this was a gamble, having read dozens of horror stories in Woot forums about busted refurbs, and awful shipping/delivery stories. When I got my shipping notification, I saw that it's ship via ABF Freight. I then searched and found the reviews here on Yelp and was understandably nervous.Luckily, I needn't have been! It's tricky looking at reviews for shippers because most people only bother writing a review when things go horribly wrong. My experience was 5-stars, and absolutely worthy of reviewing: I got a phone call from a local 510 number 2 business days (to the hour) after placing my order. Cheryl left a clear voicemail requesting I call back to confirm delivery for tomorrow. I called back at 5:30 that evening, expecting them to be closed, but Charlene answered the phone live after barely 2 rings. She had me wait for 3 seconds while she pulled up the right page on her computer, and with my 9 digit tracking number, was able to quickly look up my shipment and confirm that they were available to deliver tomorrow, between 10 and 3. She informed me that I'd receive a call within-the-hour before the delivery. When I asked if that meant 3 minutes before, or if I'd have 15 minutes to drive home from work, she said she'd put a note in the account that I need at least 15 minutes warning. Brandon the delivery driver called 18 minutes before the 12:15 delivery, and I was able to easily be home in time. He was professional and courteous over the phone, and throughout our interaction. He carefully and skillfully removed the huge 71lb box from the truck, and it appears to have been properly transported upright and lashed to the wall of the truck. He carefully carried it into my living room. When he said that he was marking "subject to inspection" on the paperwork, I asked if he had time to wait for me to open the box, and he offered to help with unboxing. In addition to opening the box, he offered helpful tips as we went, including tilting the box up on its side so it's easy to slide the TV out, and while he lifted the TV he had me lay the empty box down flat so we'd have a padded flat surface to lay it down on. He helped me remove the plastic and inspect the TV, encouraging me to check the corners carefully, as that's the most likely place for damage. When we were done, he asked if I was going to let the dogs back in after he left, and I recognized where he was going--I'd want to move the TV from the floor before letting them in. He all but insisted on helping me carry the TV to the man room and even suggested we turn it around from how I had placed it on the floor so that the screen would be facing towards the soft couch. As he left, he gave me another helpful tip: to be sure I go through ALL the packaging before throwing it in the recycling, as there are often parts taped inside the air-pack material. During his visit, we bonded over rescue dogs (we've both rescued pit bulls), and he joked with me when I said I was planning on going back to work after we're done, recognizing how hard it is not to play with new toys the minute they arrive. (You were right Brandon, I had the TV up on the wall and running firmware updates before heading back to work). I was impressed and pleased with the speed and care that my TV was delivered. I was blown away by the amazing customer service provided by Brandon the driver based out of Oakland. Thanks so much! read more

Their driver asked me to come out and get on to his truck and help with unload of a crate as he was the only person who was unable to handle the unloading alone. Highly unprofessional. They don't take in to account driver or customer safety. They don't even have proper equipment to handle the large crates and rely on basic dolly or undersized hand truck. Rude call center staff. Zero star, worthless shipping company. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. The truly don't care about you or your shipped items.

The driver extremely nice ..and figured out later why . Because the delivered bed was badly damaged and he was very talkative so we wouldn't notice before signing his papers . That is why it took them a month and numerous calls to deliver it while lying that they called and I didn't answer . Never had a missed call . read more

My package was scheduled from 3pm-6pm Friday. I got home at 2pm just to receive a missed delivery notification from them. Now they have to redeliver my package Monday from "3pm-6pm". Good job, you guys are incompetent, which is reflected by your overall Yelp rating. read more

They were hired by Amazon (not by myself directly) to deliver a large item on a certain day and a certain time. They called to say they won't deliver in the time window chosen then said they only have semi's and won't deliver to a residence. I told them to return the item to Amazon, they said they could offer a bobtail service but I would have to pay more. It appears they bid home delivery to Amazon then try to charge customers for the service they were already paid for. read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! The absolute worst freight company I have ever dealt with. I do NOT recommend this company. Driver showed up to our office and refused to bring down packages - said his job was only to drive the truck not to unload? Happened TWICE with this company. Do yourself a favor and pay the additional shipping cost for a more reliable company! read more

Terrible carrier. Have used them in all parts of the country through my company. They have cost us multiple accounts because of missed appointments, unprofessional staff and lack of any sort of effort or communication. Schedules an "appointment" from 8-2pm and when does not show up, does not bother to call the client to advise of the delay. read more

Words cannot describe my utter frustration and disappointment with ABF Freight. They were hired to transport two garage doors from Colorado to Ohio. One of the garage door panels was severely damaged (metal buckled/bent; metal backside was punctured). Per the shipping instructions, the garage door panels were to be shipped on their sides and not stacked (per manufacturer). When the panels arrived via ABF, the delivery driver opened the back of the semi-trailer and we saw that the panels were laying flat and were stacked on top of each other. Since the panels were individually wrapped in cardboard, the damage was not clearly evident at the time of unloading. However, upon the removal of the cardboard, the CHI certified installer immediately noticed the damaged panel. To create the amount of damage inflicted, the garage door panel had to have been dropped, dragged, or shipped improperly. Since the damaged garage door panel is part of the CHI Shoreline series with carriage overlay, they won't just replace the damaged panel. They are saying that all three of the bottom panels must be replaced in order to ensure that the grain and the overlay matches up. Now I have to waste my time writing this review and filing an insurance claim. A few months later... the insurance agency declared the garage door as a total loss and is reimbursing me everything but the $500 deductible. While ABF did reach out to me on the matter, they basically did nothing to rectify this matter (lost $500 because of them). In conclusion, based upon my shipping experience with ABF, I strongly recommend avoiding ABF Freight as they don't follow shipping instructions which resulted in damaged/ destroyed goods. Note: I tried uploading the pictures but the website didn't allow it for some unknown reason. read more

If you feel like an exercise in frustration look no further. ABF Freight takes no responsibility on the accuracy of the information they provide. My shipment is now scheduled to arrive 2 business days LATE. The tracking system online is NOT RELIABLE and customer service will not provide any resolution. In my case I had to make arrangements (that cost me $) to coordinate the delivery. The tracking system showed the item would arrive on time, It was not until I had waited for 3 hrs and hired 2 individuals to move the delivery did they tell me (after I called) the package would arrive "one or two days later than what was scheduled", no apologies, no consideration, no concern. If you end up having to forceful use this company (much like I did) call them the day before the item(s) is schedule to be shipped, and every hour once it is "shipped". If you can avoid this company please stay clear for your own sanity. read more

This company is ridiculous. They say they will deliver your trailer to your house in 2-4 business days, when realistically it won't be for a week. Just know that if the hub receives your trailer on the weekend that you won't receive it AT LEAST until Tuesday because they're closed on weekends and you can't call on the weekends to schedule a Monday deliver. Absolutely ridiculous. They should have an on call number or just tell people they don't deliver on Mondays. The "supervisor" was extremely unhelpful and had terrible customer service. Never using ABF/UPACK again. read more

No Responce ABF's Customer service is a Joke. They don't care about the Customer. Freight was to be delivered June 30th. it didn't show up. I e-mailed customer service July 3rd got a responce of it had disappear out of their system we will get back to you. sent 2 more e-mails 1 on July 9th and 1 on July 15 No Responce. I wish I could give negative stars for this company. I just sat around the house from "8-2" (and then some) waiting for an oversized package to arrive (that I ordered on Amazon) which never arrived. The customer service line is useless. First, we get an email saying that they can't get a hold of us so they called and left a message to schedule and appointment which is a dirty lie...they never called. Fast forward to after an appointment was made and after I have waited for hours to no avail. I called and waited on two separate occasions today (for a half hour each time) without an answer. I then called the number to schedule appointments and I find out that whoever made the appointment for today is a TOTAL IDIOT because they are closed. They only ship on Mondays and Thursdays and luckily I had the day off today but apparently SO DID THEY. The employees who are making appointments probably should have been privy to this information. In addition, whoever I talked to today was not able to make an appointment for me for a later date. Why? Because "they are closed". I don't know how this company is still in business, but they should be shut down. AVOID THIS FREIGHT COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. read more

I got a better one! I ordered a large item through Amazon, was never told this was how it would be shipped until after the fact. They are charging me a storage fee for holding the item because they were not able to get in touch with me by phone. They have never attempted delivery. When I called them to set up a day, they scheduled it 4 days out, only AFTER the fact did I learn via a letter that they are charging me 20 dollars for each day's storage. I am going to fight the charges tooth and nail. read more

I need help with receiving this order. This order is past due for receiving. My order was placed on June 8 2020 and has yet to be received. It is outside the window for promise to receive. Menards chose ABF freight to deliver my order. ABF has not bothered to reach out to me after they have rescheduled my delivery 3 times. My delivery was first promised June 17, 2020 and then again June 18 and then again June 19 and then was finally told that it should be delivered no later than Monday June 22 2020. It is now Wednesday June 24 2020 and my order still has not been received. I was told that my order is in Dallas Tx and has been placed on the hot list twice for receipt in Wichita Falls Tx. I am still waiting on my items. Please help with expediting my items to me. The local ABF branch has already told that they do not know when my items will arrive. read more

Bought a couch from Blu Dot and they shipped it through ABF. The customer support was very rude. The seemed to have this attitude of "oh, we already have your business so we won't try". Yuck... 2 stars. read more

Useless. Never even heard of them til a company I ordered from used them. Tracking number was useless, they forwarded the package to UPS so I missed it since without a tracking number I had no idea when it was coming. Will be sure to avoid any company that ships with ABF. read more

One star is to good for ABF, they totaled a very expensive motorcycle that the dealership i bought it from shipped through them. They claimed it was slightly damaged! It took months to resolve with them. The adjuster was extremely rude to me on multiple occasions. Took way to long to resolve. Avoid at all costs. read more

I wish I could leave zero stars. I ordered 5 tvs and 3 glass dry erase boards online for my office. The company I ordered them from said that I must unwrap and inspect each tv for damages and if I did not I would be unable to return them. When the delivery guy arrived (Bruce) he made it obvious that his day was not going well. I unloaded the boards myself (and I'm pretty sure that was the delivery guy's expectation). While he was tinkering around in the back of his truck, I was able to open and inspect the boards to ensure they were delivered safely. I'm surprised he even brought the tvs to the door. When he asked for a signature I told him that I was going to have to inspect each item per the merchandiser's request. He stopped me mid-sentence and said "there is no way that is going to happen." He then told me that I could just refuse the delivery (that I've already been waiting for quite some time). I told him that "this was bullshit" and proceeded to open the boxes to ensure they arrived undamaged. While I was leaning over the box he pointed his knife about 5 inches away from my face and told me "I had better watch my mouth." I then called his office and spoke to Judy (who was very nice) and she put me on with the delivery guy's manager. When I spoke with him he was completely unconcerned that the driver threatened me with a knife and even less concerned about me wanting to ensure that the products were delivered undamaged. for your own safety, DO NOT USE THIS LOUSY, WORTHLESS FREIGHT SERVICE PROVIDER. read more

ABF is the worst shipping company I've ever dealt with. They're supposed to deliver a television "to my door", but by that, they mean the door of the high rise I live in, not the door to my apartment, leaving me with a 150lbs box to bring up by myself. When I've tried to reach out to their customer service over and over, all I had were unhelpful circular conversations and threats that they would not deliver the TV. Do not use this company. read more

You lazy POS company. You send a 70 yr to deliver a treadmill. You suck!!!! Guy was gassed just going up my stairs!!!! Ugh!

ABF did an awesome job moving us from the North West in Oregon to the Valley of the Rio Grande in Texas. Great way to move and not have to drive ourselves with all our belongings. They were the cheapest option we had so decided to give it a shot and glad we did. It was done by space vs weight which worked perfect for us. The pick up and delivery was on time. We were afraid our furnishings would be lost, stolen or broken but not one thing broke nor got lost. We packed/loaded and unloaded the trailer. The trick is when you pack your boxes. If you did a good job packing nothing will break. At unloading we hired a mover and was very easy and all together very cheap. This is the second time we move stuff from Oregon to the Valley and if needed would use them again. Good luck to all. read more

4 days before Christmas a driver pulled up and said they couldn't deliver because of snow in the driveway. Everyone has snow in their driveway, less than 1/2 inch it's New England. He offered to leave the 311 lb package in the double yellow, road. No thank you! I asked the driver if he could back into the driveway, he said no, it's a busy street, meanwhile he's parked in the street. The driver couldn't back into the driveway, not enough room... driver wanted to come back when the driveway was bare. Sure glad he doesn't work for me. read more

Doesn't look like the company cares about its customer service. There are 13 all 1-star reviews and the company continues to thrive and prosper. They shipped a large heavy door for me and thankfully I took pictures how it tumbled inside their truck, it was clear that the door was damaged in transit. So, I called the seller of the door and they arranged for the door to be seen by the inspector from ABF and supposedly they were supposed to pick up the door today, when no one showed up, I called the company and was chewed up by them. It's been a really long time since I've encountered something this bad. read more

DO NOT USE. I wish I didn't even have to give them a "1" star! They change their rates constantly and when you finally get the bill, you are paying hundreds - sometimes thousands of dollars more! Customer service is awful. Drivers are nice - the company is not. read more

Place totally sucks. Took weeks to organize a pick-up for my things. When the guy got to my place he told me I had to move all of my things into his truck. Then eventually he just bailed and said ABF does not do the kind of pick-up that I wanted. Guy was just lazy as shit and did not want to do any work. I called up ABF afterward, they said "you wanted him to help you move 50 boxes?" ... like that was absurd of me to ask of someone or ABF to do ... and I say "yes, I'm paying you $500, it's called work" ... then the lady at ABF says "well, we dont service your area anyway, so we cannot come out and make the pick-up." Which is a total fucking lie because ABF just sent someone out to service my area. Seems to me that ABF is just stocked with lazy workers who are not to keen on helping anyone if it inconveniences them. read more

Customer service??? Good luck. The 'head doesn't know what the tail is doing' it seems, they have no regard for those effected by what they do, nor even City Codes!! New renters moving into our building used ABF Freight, ABF LEFT THE HUGE MOVING TRAILER IN FRONT OF THE BUILDING ILLEGALLY PARKED FOR 6 DAYS, blocking ability for residents to access their parking spaces safely, making pedestrian passing a hazard & making it impossible to see while backing out of our parking spaces into on coming traffic. 3 different residents had to call the company, police ticket the ABF trailer for creating a difficult & hazardous situation. Police cited it as a hazard because of its size on a small residential street and no parking allowed on any public street more than 3 days AND it extended into the red!! Customer service had no record of the 2 previous complaint calls. When I called 'Ryan' was nice enough, just powerless to do ANYTHING. Seems they sub-contract the trailers out??? Or some such 'nothing can be done' kind of thing. Like the other poor reviews, I recommend: Do NOT use this company. read more

My delivery came out of South Elgin, IL. arranged by the Arkansas office. I ordered a recliner from AMAZON who used them for my chair. I made all the calls..no one ever called me about anything. The delivery man was RUDE and first tried to tell my husband he had to leave our package at the curb then said the garage door and again my husband told him the front door. He finally brought it to our front door. He started to walk away and my husband asked if he would bring it inside the door and was told no. He asked if he would wait and at least take the box away and he said no and walked away and go in his truck. I called AMAZON and complained and they said they are a delivery company and not to take anything past the door. I told them I do not ever want anything delivered to me from this crap company again. Customer service is important and they should at least bring it inside. I did not want it assembled just brought in. The delivery guy had a bad attitude . Do not use this company. I bought a piano and supposed to be delivered today 10/18/2013. When I tracked the item, it was in Portland. So I waited, but suddenly changed the status that item is delayed and will take another week to arrive. So I called them and said that item actually sent to NJ instead of Portland. However their amazing tracking system tracked until it gets to Portland (may be paper work). So finally it needs to come from NJ now. I am not sure they deliver this item on next Friday either and I am not going to wait for them since I don't have any trust on them. So the current arrangement is to contact me on Friday and deliver when I am at home, before they bring it to my house I am not sure why Fedex and UPS folks can not deliver these items. They are way effective. I buy most of the items online and I had only once that FedEx lost my small package. read more

There is no point in having a window of time for deliveries from ABF. Recent delivery NEVER arrived. I called ABF and they told me my package "DISAPPEARED"!!!! I asked how does a package simply disappear, and the man replied with "that is how this industry is, nothing we can do about it." If letting packages disappear is your standard of doing business, I am baffled at how ABF has stayed in business for this long. They have no idea where it is and most likely they will need to file a claim so I can get my order. These guys are a joke. read more
