I had three pallets of freight, all well organized, shrink wrapped and banded. All three pallets had been dropped, and one, containing metal file cabinets, had obviously had extremely heavy objects dropped on top of it, causing dents so deep in the top that it is now impossible to open. The contents will now have to be removed by using a grinder to cut the tops of the file cabinets off. One item was also missing from that pallet. There was a report of transit damage to an intermediate freight center, but I was not informed until I called and asked. I never saw the report. The response from ABF, after my sending damning photo documentation, was a query about the estimated weight of the damaged objects. I received a check for $20.00. read more

Around 11:30-11:45 Thursday August 24 I was traveling north bound of College Blvd and Red Bluff Pl near by The Goddard School. I was traveling in the bike lane, just cruising enjoying the day, when one of the drivers of ABF Freights truck #362410 license plate 9G36343 of California pulled in front of me in a aggressive manner, so I pull aside of him to get around, he decided get out of his truck as I'm passing by, to pull down me off my bike, I completely fall off my bike, thankfully I had a great helmet cause my head only hurts a little (couldn't imagine if I was wearing a regular bicycle helmet), I bruised left leg in the incident and my glasses were broken to hell. As I'm getting up to collect myself. Dude proceeded to call me a f**king stupid a** n*gger, totally gets in my face started yelling at me, he pushed me, I pushed him a few times away from me cause he would just continue to just charge to my face and; yell at me (clearly someone must've had a bad morning and thought he could take it on a black man that's going nothing but ride his bike to get some Chick-fil-A). Thankfully I was raised by a Marine cause if I wasn't me he definitely would've knocked out. You take away the constant yelling.. leave the racist remark and intentionally pull off my bike in an aggressive manner. I'm looking at him (low key laughed in my head) then I turn my back to him to continue my day and dude starts squaring up like I'm going to fight him or something.. Awful company with zero communication. I made a purchase, the company used ABF which is also ArcBest. This was a large television, so I assumed that they would require signature. The only communication is through you checking their website, Sunday night it showed that the item was being delivered Monday, so I took the day off. Monday at about 10am the shipping switched to Tuesday delivery. Like a fool, I took Tuesday off and on Tuesday the shipping switched to Wednesday. Finally on Wednesday (today) a phone number popped up and the delivery says as of this moment that the item will be delivered Wednesday. I called that phone number and they now say that they will deliver Thursday. I asked for a time window as I have now taken off three days of work and the best they can provide is 8:00am-5:00pm. I am out about $800 awaiting delivery of a television because a shipping company is somewhere between disorganized and incompetent. read more

Unfortunately Amazon hired this company to deliver my gym equipment. The first time I scheduled this delivery I was expecting at least two people to handle the delivery and get it into my garage. They gave me a huge delivery window the day of and so I wasted my whole day waiting for the delivery only for the driver to tell me he wasn't going to be able to get it up my drive way. I called ABF to reschedule my delivery and when I explained to the lady what had happened she gave me an attitude when explaining that it is not the drivers responsibility to get my package up my driveway or into the garage. They only offload into the street and I have to figure out how to get my package into my garage. You would think someone would tell me that before scheduling the delivery so I could plan for something like that. So I schedule the delivery for the following week (today) and I hire some movers in advance to help me get the package into my garage. I get a call from ABF today (the day they supposedly scheduled my delivery) asking to schedule the delivery. I tell the lady there must be some mistake because I already scheduled the delivery and it is supposed to come today. She said "I don't know who you talked to but they did not schedule for today". I told her I had hired movers already to help unload and she said "oh well there's nothing we can do". And I ask if there is any way they can get it delivered today SINCE I SPENT MONEY ON PEOPLE TO RECEIVE THE DELIVERY!!! and she said no the trucks are already loaded. So basically they are extremely unhelpful, unorganized, and unreliable. I would not trust them with delivering ANYTHING without them over complicating it. We placed an order online and the company picked ABF to handle shipping. The guy arrived in his truck and as my husband and I walked over he didn't even bother to turn it off to hear what we were saying to him ( yelling over a truck engine while wearing a mask and being on a busy road makes it laughably hard to hear anything) on top of that he parked his truck a block away from our building. We walked over to our building as he drove. Once he stopped the truck it took the driver 6-8 min to exist his truck as we waited for him by the back. Mind you it was 98 degrees that day so for us to have to wait for this guy to leisurely exist his truck was annoying to say the least. When he got into the back he had no idea what he was looking for... a few minutes later he states that our box is all the way in the back ( not sure how that's our issue) but then because he didn't know how to handle this delivery he asks my husband to come up and help him! So this delivery guy is wearing protective thick clothing/boots and thick rubber gloves and he's asking for help from someone who isn't... Of course my husband went up the truck to help but considering what a mess the inside of the truck was and the overall situation it was clearly unsafe. With my husbands help they moved the box towards the front and my husband lowered our heavy box onto our personal cart right off the truck. Why the delivery guy didn't lower it off the truck himself I have no idea. The truck guy also asked to keep the large outer cardboard box from our package for some reason. But the kicker was that this guy expected a TIP!!!!!!! This was one of the worst freight delivery experiences I have witnessed. I cant image how all of this would have went down if my husband wasn't there to help and I was alone? Why hire people who don't know how to handle a medium size delivery? Don't use if you need your stuff within a week even though they say 2-4 day estimated shipping or PAY EXTRA for guaranteed shipping. My Relocube has been at the Tacoma Location for 72 hours now. They claim shipping doesn't start when they pick it up from my home (pick-up location) even though that should be considered the start of shipping since the cube is MOVING. So basically they can bend their 'shipping estimates' to their will. No discounts or solutions offered. Spoke with two reps one named Kelly. Neither were helpful nor empathetic towards their consumers. Do not trust ABF with anything large or valuable, they will break it and put all the blame on you: Having paid $1800 to move 3 large gyrotonic and pilates equipment (worth avg $7500 each) from NYC to Albuquerque, I expected more from ABF. They broke the legs of a machine that is no longer in production, made multiple scratches on the wood, torn and punctured upholstery, and they denied all responsibility and claim. They also gave me the wrong information on pick up window times(via phone). They told me an hour window time frame is necessary, however it is actually a 4 hour window which i had to find out on the day of pick up! That wasted 3.5 extra hours of my professional mover's time in NYC as ABF would only pickup from curbside. Yes, the driver was late in addition to the extra 3 hours that i was not aware of. My mover in NYC packed and loaded the machines to ABF lift gate. He made sure it left in mint condition. But this is what i received in Albuquerque (see photos). Sooooooooo the customer service was great, the guy that came to the house was great. The product I ordered is immaculate. The reason for my one star review is that they sent just one person out to deliver a 400lbs treadmill and I had thresh hold service to put in my living room but since there was only one delivery guy and there was no way he could put it in the living room by himself. I felt bad and he asked if he could leave it in the garage. I said that was fine but I really am not happy since I don't know how I'm going to get it into the house now. We ordered some very heavy equipment which is supposed to be "threshold delivery" but instead the delivery guy dumps the package off in the middle of our driveway completely blocking it. The delivery man takes off as fast as he can. My review is straight down the middle for this company as I would issue 5 stars for the drivers, and 1 star for the company. I ordered a Shuffleboard Table from Amazon, and this is who they hired to do the delivery. My order was being delivered to the 17th floor of a high rise building, that has a freight elevator. This delivery was one 462 pound box. The first day, they sent one driver to deliver this. Obviously, he couldnt - and I questioned why they would only send one person. He stated something about if there are stairs involved, it requires more than one person... however stairs were not used here, it was a freight elevator delivery, but regardless, one person cannot deliver a 462 pound box. So, I had to refuse the shipment. The driver, whose name I did not get unfortunately, was very nice. At this point, I contacted ABF Freight in Orange, CA, as that who was handling this delivery, and spoke to a gal, whose name I also unfortunately did not get. I told her that her driver stated this was a 3-4 person job. He had asked if we had anyone available that could help, and I was not willing to offer that. She stated they could deliver next day, and would make it a 2 person job. I again stated her driver said it was a 3-4 person job. Next day comes, and the driver shows up, and is waiting for his second man to help. We chatted, and I tried to contact building maintenance as there is construction in our building, and the freight elevator had a wooden bar going across the top of it, which was in the way of these guys getting my shuffleboard table in the freight elevator correctly. Between this, and the two drivers discussing if they could even do this delivery just as the two of them...I also received a phone call from the drivers supervisor or dispatcher, not sure, letting me know his drivers could only wait around a few more minutes otherwise they had to go, as they had other deliveries. At this point, I got annoyed. I specifically told this company the day before THEIR driver stated this is a 3-4 person job, and they sent two people. Them waiting around, was the least of my concerns as it was poor planning on their companies part. Maintenance was able to lift the bar out of the freight elevator, and then they HELPED ABF Freight as the third person. This terrified me as I didnt want him to get hurt. The entire delivery took about an hour and a half from start to finish, and they only positive thing I have to say about it, over the two days, is that the drivers were AMAZING!!! I got their names at least... Mike Torres and Larry Garcia. They went so above and beyond with EVERYTHING yesterday. I can not thank them enough. I called the local office in Orange, and I asked to speak to a manager, and spoke to Eric. I explained my entire situation and he let me know Amazon promises the world to their customer, and while I understand that, I specifically told THEIR employee the day before THEIR driver stated this was a 3-4 person job, and they chose to send 2 people. While it didnt seem to matter that I was frustrated, and that I had all of these problems, I decided to just focus on the amazing job these two guys did, since that was what seemed to matter. Most people do not call to praise people and I wanted to make sure that at least got across, as I dont think the rest of it mattered. I also wanted to make sure to get the point across if those two drivers were reprimanded for being at my location for so long, to please have their direct manager call me, as that is unacceptable. I did not chose to have this company deliver my product, Amazon did, but I would not do it again. It was a complete frustration minus the three drivers involved over the two days. Garbage company. They have my product that I have already paid for, and refuse to deliver or even let me come get it. I spoke to 3 different people, including a manager who just said that it's not their problem and I haven't paid them anything. My grandfather ordered driveway gates for his home and had a terrible experience with this shipping service. After over a month of scheduling and shipping issues they were unable to deliver the product. They made up excuses at every turn, prolonging the process and never coming through or delivering. One such excuse was that they "didn't have a truck available" and that they should have it tomorrow, then the next day, then the next day. Then they didn't have the proper equipment to load the product onto their truck. Then they didn't have the correct route to drop off the product. Etc etc, it didn't seem like anyone ever knew what was going on throughout the process and it was always an arduous process just getting answers to our questions. Lets also be clear that the company as a whole is as bad as could be imagined. Our most recent experience involved $15,000.00 of damage to custom cabinets and counter tops. I have been waiting since 8:00 am for the delivery and the driver, finally, arrived @ 3:55 pm and had NO pallet jack to move the freight (2100 lbs per pallet, 4 pallets), from the front of the trailer. In speaking with the "dispatcher", Brandon (would not give his last name), he was going to try and get someone to drop off a pallet jack, but after about 15 minutes, he called and he wanted the driver (Eric) to take the freight back to the warehouse and re-deliver tomorrow....NOT what I paid for. After I called Brandon back, he said that he would have to take the shipment back and deliver tomorrow. I told him that was UNACCEPTABLE and he needed to figure out a way to get it off the truck today! After asking for Brandon's supervisor's name, he provided Mark Mantoya which I will be contacting tomorrow, along with the ABF corporate office. Eric and I hand unloaded (144) 5 gallon buckets (57 lbs each) from the truck because I have a customer coming at 7:00 am on Tuesday to pick up (2) pallets, was supposed to be picked up today.....but with the GREAT service that ABF provides, I should have told him Wednesday or Thursday. I had NO choice as this was being shipped by the manufacturer, but I can GUARANTEE you this, I will have my own shipping company pickup the freight on the next order and I will NEVER let them send me ANYTHING via ABF. Update: the ramp collapsed AGAIN while my dad was on it and he fell down very hard. It is absolutely ridiculous that this company continues to use ramps that are so unsafe and so terribly designed. Unfortunately, in order to use their service you have to sign a release form. If I didn't have to, I would sue the hell out of them for negligently using dangerous equipment. Used ABF freight with U-Pack to move across the country, and what a terrible experience it was. The bulkhead doors on one of the trailers was broken, so we couldn't even use them to secure our stuff. They refused to bring another pair of doors! On top of that, the ramps provided were terrible. The ramps with each trailer weren't even the same size, so we couldn't use them side by side to bring the larger stuff up or down, and they were very unstable. One of them collapsed while I was bringing down something, and I fell and hurt myself pretty badly. Luckily I was almost at the end of the ramp so I didn't fall too far. The hooks on each side were also made for some proprietary straps, so it was very difficult to get any of our standard straps to fit and secure everything. On Friday, May 13, 2019, ABF's U Pack truck was delivered to a Cubesmart in Deerfield, IL. My movers moved all my items from my storage unit into the truck. It was a long, hot, tedious and exhausting day. And it was a Friday. After my movers were done, I was instructed by ABF / U Pack to lock the inner wall and then lock up the truck ... that sometime later that day someone would pick up the truck. I attempted to lock up the inner retaining wall using U Pack supplied equipment, but THEIR locks would not fit into THEIR wall. I called the office and was told not to worry, as the truck would be locked and that I would not be sharing the truck with anyone else. (First red flag.) I made two trips to Target to find a lock that would work, but was not successful. I then attempted to lock the truck with the supplied lock on the pull-down door, but it was rusted. (Don't they inspect these things first?) I called the office and was told, "not to worry", that it would be picked up later that day. (2nd red flag.) I said I would not leave an unlocked truck with my possessions just sitting there. It took about 45 - 60 minutes for someone to come out with a lock for the back of the truck. It is now rush hour. Needless to say, I was extremely unhappy with the situation and quite concerned. You see, I've had things stolen from me many times. Also, I have moved many times in my life and each and every time, a box or two went missing. I was putting my full faith and trust in ABF / U Pack to get my things to my new home without any issues. That was not to be. Fact: The only times my possessions were out of my site was during the 3.4 mile trip from my home to the storage unit (there was no delay in the movers arriving at that site) and the time the ABF / U Pack truck sat at Cubesmart until it was picked up and driven across country to my home in Mission Viejo. Due to physical limitations and upcoming surgeries, I was unable to unpack all of my boxes at the time of the move. I unpacked the necessary ones and left the bulk of the boxes in the garage. (There must have been about 150 - 200 boxes total.) From the start, I felt things were missing, but then assumed I would eventually find them once I unpacked everything. I was giving the company the benefit of the doubt. Every box has now been unpacked and many items are still missing. At this time, I am missing valuable collectibles, crystal, clothes, food, appliances, a Casio synthesizer, tools, camera, lamps, and many other items. Some of these items had sentimental value, as they were gifts from my parents (both gone), or things they had once owned. I can only imagine that many more items are missing but unless I'm looking for them, I have no idea what else was taken. I have estimated that I am out about $10,000. To say that I'm angry (and saddened) is an understatement. Boxes were obviously missing. (We had numbered our boxes when we were packing and some did not arrive.) Boxes that I know were fully and tightly packed were half filled. Some boxes looked rifled through and the contents a mess. Boxes that were labeled "Kitchen" had non-kitchen items in it. The list goes on and on. I did have some furniture in the truck as well. Every piece had unexplained stains, gouges and scratches, where none existed before. The "frame" around my tv screen has a big gouge in it. (It wasn't there before.) It looked as if someone went through my contents, moved my furniture, as needed, to get into the boxes and damaged items as they moved them around. I contacted the company but they couldn't have cared less. It took them almost one month to report back on my claim saying that I did not file in a timely manner. I do not know what happened. But what I do know is that I did not get all of my boxes. I don't know if the truck was broken into during the trip across country and the movers didn't want to report it. I don't know if the drivers decided to have a free-for-all and just take what they wanted. I don't know if the keys to the truck were stolen and someone ransacked my goods. I just don't know and never will. But I do hold ABF / U-Pack responsible. Take this experience to heart when you're looking for someone to move you. read more

Worst freight out there. They have attempted to drop off several times...to the wrong location. Dispatch will give an automated phone call for delivery and not once does the driver actually arrive in the time allotted from dispatch. Drivers do not have cell phones to call contact person to ensure delivery. After all their failed attempts to deliver to wrong address they attempt to charge a holding fee for the delivery. Don't use this company ever! The 29 boxes we shipped took 17 days from Michigan to Seattle, but we only received 16 boxes, and they lost almost half of them. Had an extremely unpleasant experience with one of the drivers. He was delivering self moving pods to someone in my apartment building. He parked where moving trucks are not supposed to park blocking me from utilizing my parking spaces while also blocking my elderly mother from being able to get out of hers. We had to cancel a doctor's appointment. When I asked what apartment he was delivering to or who told him to park there, he told me he would be gone in 10 minutes. I told him that didn't really help me. He continued to behave extremely rudely, refused to tell me if he had been told to park there, and would not move so we had access to our cars. To top it all off, he had a fork lift for moving the pods. Parking where he was supposed to would not have made moving items anymore strenuous for him. However, when you move, its expensive and ABF or it's current staff took very little care to appreciate this fact. Twice after shipment was already delivered they charged my account a very high storage fee, it immediately takes funds from my account, they take almost 2 weeks to put those funds back in, moving is expensive and twice ABF has screwed me over. It is pretty simple to send a deliver receipt and avoid a HUGE headache, two months in a row it was not done. Abysmal - from their driver's attitude when he brought in a 76lb 8ft tall mirror and refused to deliver it since I have stairs - to their customer service folks who can't seem to see anything on their screen - to their business side of the house where they think a single person can deliver such a large item. I offered to help the delivery guy carry the box up the stairs and he refused to even accept my help. Here is the whole story November 2019 - I order a mirror for my wife for her bday on Amazon. It says 2-3 weeks for shipping - not too bad - we didn't have a flight out of the country until near the end of December. We were quoted a monday between 9-Noon. The night before I receive a text saying that they could not accommodate the time that we initially agreed on - fine - so my wife planned to be there at the new time 12-3pm. I get a call at ~1030am telling me that they are on their way - during the time we initially agreed on - I let them know that no one would be there and asked if they could come later between the time they updated us with 12-3pm - he said that he would call the supervisor and call me right back. 15 min goes by and eventually I call the office - they let me know that they would not be able to accommodate and that they would need to come back another day. I called the driver back to tell him that I could take a Uber back to my place in around 15min if he was still around - he told me it was between me and the head office at this point. I call the head office back - explain the situation and that we would be out of town as of thursday of that week until Jan 2 - and asked them to come back on Jan 3rd. They said okay. As we were taking off on on flight Thursday, I get a call from them telling me that they were 30 minutes away - I told them we were on a plane and that we agreed on Jan 3rd. They said that would be fine. On Jan 2nd I check my Amazon app - they ended up shipping the mirror back to the manufacturer - and did not even tell us that they did so. So I call them, they told me they sent it back and that I would need to wait for the merchant to receive it in 3 weeks and put it back online and to buy it again. At this point I'm pretty furious, but there is nothing that I can do. ~3 weeks goes by and I get an email from Amazon letting me know that the item is back in stock. I immediately purchase it and it says delivery in another 3 weeks or so. ~3 more weeks goes by, and we get the delivery date set - Feb 18th between 12-3pm. I get a call that they are coming, I tell them the code to get into the building. Eventually I get a call back from them. They had 1 person trying to deliver the item - 76lb 8 ft tall box. He said he was refusing to deliver because there were stairs. I offered to immediately come home and help him carry it up the stairs and he said he refused to do this as well. I told him to come back this next tuesday at the same time and to bring 2 people to carry it up the stairs. I told him that Thursday and Friday would not work since we would be out of town. I get a call on Thursday the 20th from them, trying to deliver the mirror - again on a day where I told them I would not be available. Today I called Amazon because this is horrendous customer service and delivery - they connect me to a customer service agent who said they were trying to deliver it today - but could not confirm if they were actually going to bring 2 people with them or not. To recap - I bought this item first in November - they didn't come when they told us they would, then they returned the item before the new delivery date that we agreed on. Eventually I had to repurchase the item, only for them to come with an unprofessional delivery person who refused to deliver, then again tried to deliver on a day where I told them I would be out of town. I'll reply back to this if they deliver to let you know if it was damaged. This is the worst freight company and worst delivery experience that I have had. Amazon should absolutely drop them. read more

I had a great delivery experience with this carrier. I bought some furniture from Amazon that was supposed to be delivered by ABF, this is the first time I am dealing with this delivery freight. First they called me about 1 week prior to my delivery dater to confirm. Then I called them to reschedule to an earlier delivery, and they were very accommodating. The customer service was great and answered all my questions. On the delivery date, I got a robot call about 1 hr before my delivery time, they gave me a 3hr delivery window, and told me someone will be calling me 1 hr prior to delivery. The truck pulled over 30min before the delivery time, everything was well packed. The driver Derick was very nice, he helped me carry all pieces of furniture inside my apartment. Everything took less that 15min, and these were heavy furniture. Everything went smooth from start to finish, really I could not ask for more. This is by far the most incompetent company I have ever had experience with. They were hired by Amazon to deliver a bedframe. 1) Wrongly scheduled delivery for 1 instead of 2 man job 2) Was out of their timeframe upon delivery 3) Driver, John, was very rude and in a rush. 4) Ended up driving away with my bedframe because he could not deliver it by himself 5) LOST MY ITEM 6) Weeks went by with no contact 7) Ultimately had to ask Amazon for a replacement 8) oh and phone staff very slow They did not take any responsibility for their mistakes either..."Well just call Amazon for a replacement." Literally so incapable. I beg you to avoid their services and encourage retailers like Amazon to do reconsider their partnership. read more

I have an issue that is almost the same as Kathleen K, ABF was to deliver a hot tub. They gave me a time for delivery and it was 8am to 8pm, At about just before 5pm, before they left for the day, I called to reconfirm. I was told they farmed out the delivery to another carrier. Called them and oops, they were not told by ABF that a delivery was to be made. Sat here all day and took the day off work. I think if a company is going to have such a broad delivery time and not a specific appointment, then they should be prepared to pay for lost wages. Horrible customer support. read more

I was supposed to receive a shipment on 2/12. It didn't arrive. I called that day and was told it would arrive 2/17. I called today (2/17) and was told it could "possibly arrive on 2/22". They also said my item was "misloaded in Kansas City". I asked them why they would not expedite the shipment since it was their error that made it late. They responded that they would not expedite the order without adding an additional cost, and that their delivery dates are not accurate eta's. The agent I spoke to was kind, as she told me that ABF Freight doesn't give a $h!t about my shipment or my business. Avoid this company at all costs! read more

I ordered a machine from Langmuir Systems at a value of $8000. ABF was hired to ship two crates from Texas to Alabama. They lost one of the crates - completely. Keep in mind - these were not small items (230 pounds and 545 pounds) After one day of trying to find it they asked me to contact Langmuir Systems to replace it. This has been a nightmare and ABF has been no help at all. Total incompetence! read more
