Since we didn't have Maryland licenses we needed to submit either a copy of our passport or an article of official mail like an electric bill that had our current Maryland address in order to complete the registration. Instead of sending another round of letters we decided to walk down to the Board of elections office to hopefully resolve it quickly. After showing our IDs to the front desk we were shown to the office on the first floor. There's a bell to ring upon entering the office and someone came out to greet us promptly. The clerk was very friendly and helpful and after collecting our additional information and photocopying it, gave us our voter registration cards. She gave us additional information for early voting and a phone number to call in case we had any questions. Overall it was a great visit and was a lot easier to come down to the office then to do things through mail.

Originally constructed in 1865, the Jericho Covered Bridge is the last remaining covered bridge in Baltimore and Harford counties, and one of only six remaining in Maryland. It has a Burr arch through truss design, developed and patented by Theodore Burr in the early 1800s. This design allowed timber bridges to span longer distances than the typical single king post design used since the middle ages. This bridge was built by Thomas Forsyth in 1865 to connect the cotton mills and ironworks of Baltimore County with the mills and blacksmith shops in Harford County. The Georgia mansion home was the largest private home in America when it was completed in 1790. The estate was a plantation, one of the largest in Maryland, and hundreds of people were enslaved at the plantation until the end of the Civil War. The property is operated by the National Park Service, so a park ranger gives guided tours of the property. Our ranger guide was really friendly and did a wonderful job guiding us through the house. She taught us about the history of the area, the family, and the estate. She taught us about the architecture of the house and the artifacts visible throughout the house (many of which are original to the home). She also highlighted the lives and stories of enslaved persons who spent part or the entirety of their lives at Ridgely. There is some important Maryland history here at Hampton, and I really appreciated our experience. The house is undergoing some renovations right now and we were a bit tight on time, so we weren't able to explore the grounds (I think you can visit the slave quarters, cemetery, and more on the grounds), so I'd like to go back and explore more of the site's history.
