Horribly inaccurate lead times on items. I was trying to make a few end of year purchases as a write off for my business and was referred to Abel by a friend of mine who had been doing business with them for years. It felt like every camera I wanted to buy I wouldn't be able to take delivery of by the end of the year so I made some compromises in order to get something from these guys. Even after being told my cameras should ship they were delayed and I missed deadline after deadline. At one point I even had to have them redirect my shipments to the 4 Seasons where I was staying on holiday in an attempt to actually take delivery of what I bought and they still didn't deliver. Incomplete shipments, incorrect shipments, and here I am months later and I'm still dealing with trying to solve an order from December. The only star I can give to the folks at Abel was in their support department. The guy they had me working with, Jason, did help me put together the package I wanted even if I couldn't actually get what he was telling me to buy. He had a fast response time even if every time I talked to the guy he was telling me things were delayed or he flat out didn't have them in the warehouse. I honestly don't know how this place does business since they never seem to have anything on the shelf and then after almost three months awaiting a lens that I tell them I don't want anymore they try to tell me that I have to keep it. read more

Okay, Here's my deal with Abelcine Pro - Staff is incredibly friendly and some of them are funny. I hear the jokes. I hear them. Having purchased and rented items I've dealt with those people (sales reps, rental guys and customer service) and they are awesome! I'll break something soon just to have an excuse to meet the people in service. Con - Where is the store??? Oh yeah... you gotta walk in, look around, take a few more steps in, head 'round the corner and BAM! Pro - State of the art equipment. And if they don't have it, they'll find someone who does. Went through customer service with quite a few camera places and I've been very impressed with this shop. I can ask questions here and not feel looked down on like other camera stores do in LA. I actually mentioned to them when I initially bought a camera here that I was looking for my local go-to camera shop and I may have found it with these guys. The fact that they were dealing with customers who were waiting for a pre-order of something that got delayed three times must be difficult, but they kept me informed and answered me each time. My purchase wasn't that relatively expensive but the service was still very genuine and helpful. I'm definitely coming back again. read more

Great selection of gear both to purchase and rent with a polite and knowledgeable staff. Their equipment testing area is roomy and right next to their customer service counter, so if you need anything from a longer cable to a fresh battery to a different lens, you can call over to them, and they'll help you in no time. They're also flexible and will do whatever they can to help you get what you need. Going with these guys when you're stocking up for a production is a safe bet! read more

I think half the reason why we moved to Burbank was because of AbelCineTech/film. They have everything you need camera wise. Staff is wonderful, make you feel like you're the only one there, very well educated and reference to the cameras and support for the cameras. We're so happy that they're here in Burbank California. I'm a fairly new film student and needed to rent a Super16 camera for a school project. Knowing little about the technical side of filmmaking and even less about film cameras I had no idea what I needed in my rental package, but Will in the rental department patiently put together a great package that gave me exactly what I needed (and for a student-friendly price). He was even able to work around some insurance issues that came up, and set up a fantastic training session for my crew before we picked up the camera and gear for the weekend shoot. I had been apprehensive because I had no idea what I was doing and had assumed that, as a student, I would be brushed aside, but AbelCine treated me like my business mattered to them. Terrible lead times, and careless staff. I walked around for twenty minutes while all the employees I saw messed around.

I realized when ordering my very expensive camera that it was going to be a long wait. I was told I wouldn't get it until January- February, no big deal, worth it. Then there was an offer through the manufacturer to upgrade to a better camera for a really good price. I was also told I would receive this camera within a month. A month goes by,(camera is paid for) Not once was I contacted on an update with regards to my camera. So I called in. They told me the situation and that was cool. Then another month goes by. Still no update, email, phone call for my camera. Finally received my camera, and one of the clips on the camera case is barely hanging off and the guy in the will call department didn't even ask for my ID when picking up a expensive product. wow. This company needs to learn how to treat it's customers. The problem wasn't the wait. At the very least this company could send an updated email every week or whatever letting the consumer know what the heck is going on with their purchase. The people who helped me were nice,helpful and responsive, but didn't once reach out to update me on the status on my order. My friend ordered through Samy's dv for a camera way less than what I ordered and they got a hand written note saying thank you for the purchase and they also threw in an additional gift. Went to AbelCine for the first time and I was so impressed by the level of customer service I received. When I called, Danielle answered the phone and she was very friendly and helpful and got me to the right person right away. I then went to the store and was helped by Ian, Brandon, and Timothy. I was really amazed by how friendly, knowledgeable, and committed everyone was to resolve the issue. There are many photography and video stores in LA, but this place is cut above the rest in regard to the quality of service.
